TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! SHOW-ME 2ND AMENDMENT CRACKDOWN!!! KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY LEADS LOCAL POLITICOS DEMANDING MISSOURI LEGISLATORS SUSTAIN GUN RIGHTS SB656 VETO!!!

Over the weekend our blog community engaged in an important conversation about this TRAGICALLY ANTI-GUN PRIVATE KANSAS CITY PRESS CONFERENCE TODAY in an attempt to influence the veto session.

Mayor Sly was the leader of this effort and right now he's being torn apart on Twitter by locals who disagree with his rabid anti-gun stance and who also point out that he's helping to disarm women who might benefit from the passage of this Missouri gun rights bill.

More over . . .

LIKE IT OR NOT, MAYOR SLY IS POLITICIZING THE TOPIC KANSAS CITY VIOLENCE AND LOOKING TO SCORE PARTISAN POINTS WHILE KANSAS CITY IS IN THE MIDST OF A HISTORIC HOMICIDE SURGE!!!

This press conference demonstrates Mayor Sly more concerned with political debate where he is powerless and outgunned than the weekend of shooting on local streets and the steadily rising murder count.

Here's the word according to Mayor Sly and the participants of this effort to thwart the 2nd Amendment . . .

City Hall: Mayor James, Local Law Enforcement and Community Stakeholders Urge Missouri General Assembly to Protect Public Safety and Sustain Veto on Senate Bill 656

Mayor James brought together a wide range of stakeholders today to highlight the dangerous provisions included in Senate Bill 656, which Governor Nixon vetoed and the General Assembly is poised to override during tomorrow’s Veto Session. Stakeholders standing with the Mayor as he urged the General Assembly to sustain the veto included City Council members, Kansas City Deputy Police Chief Cheryl Rose, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Sharp, Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, Kyle Boyer, President of Alpha Protection, LLC, and representatives of the Citizens Task Force on Violence and Mothers in Charge.

“We have to take a long, hard look at what is happening in our own cities and cities across America,” said Mayor Sly James. “We cannot protect women and children from their abusers if we are making it easier for those abusers to carry a concealed weapon. We cannot continue to put the lives of our law enforcement partners in danger as they seek to serve and protect our community. And we absolutely cannot sit back and watch as lawmakers make it easier for criminals to commit slow motion mass murder in our neighborhoods and our schools. I urge legislators to use common sense on this issue and in doing so, help protect the lives of countless Missourians.”

Senate Bill 656 eliminates the need to secure a permit in order to carry a concealed firearm. As a result, Sheriffs across Missouri will no longer be able to deny permits that could stop potentially violent people from concealing a weapon. In a news article from MissouriNet, over 1,700 people were denied conceal and carry permits last year. The override of SB 656 will allow for these individuals to obtain a permit. Additionally, this bill eliminates local sheriffs’ ability to keep domestic violence offenders from legally carrying a concealed weapon.

The full text of Senate Bill 656 can be found here: http://www.senate.mo.gov/ 16info/pdf-bill/tat/SB656.pdf

“Police are very concerned that if this law goes into effect, it will make it easier for many more people to perpetrate gun violence, which is a considerable problem in Kansas City,” said Deputy Chief Cheryl Rose, serving as Acting Chief on behalf of Chief Forte at today’s press conference. “It also could make it extremely difficult for law enforcement to get guns out of the hands of people who would use them to commit violent acts. We join law enforcement across Missouri in urging the Legislature to uphold the veto of Senate Bill 656.”

“The public should understand that Jackson County has declined over 900 requests for a conceal and carry permit since the existing law has been in effect,” said Jackson County Sheriff Mike Sharp. “We need to continue to take guns out of the hands of people who are going to be harmful to our community. If overridden, SB 656 would give those rejected 900 people the ability to own a gun.”

“SB 656 is a anti-safety bill. It will set Missourians up to fail, simply because they will not know the use of force laws,” said Kyle Boyer, President of Alpha Protection, LLC. “Concealed Carry classes allow instructors an opportunity to educate their students on being responsible and safe with their firearms.”

"I support Governor Nixon's veto of SB 656. The safeguards that exist today in Missouri's concealed carry system are critical to keeping all of us safe," said Jackson County Executive Frank White.

“Today, I’d ask every member of the Missouri legislator to walk in the shoes of a Kansas Citian impacted by violent crime,” said Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters-Baker. “Only then could they see the harm they’ve created with this kind of legislation. SB 656 will bring more harm to this community. Voting to override is asking this community, already overburdened with gun violence, to shoulder even more. That’s too great a burden.”

because the mayor doesn't believe a woman can fire a gun.

What a shame.

^^^^ I think the word is sham.

Here's something important to consider TKC.

Notice that there were no Missouri State Legislators there. Silvey didn't show up and neither did any of the Missouri State Senators. They didn't want any part of this, it's all just a bunch of B.S. to put Sly in a position to become a Congressman. He's using this gun takeaway to fuel his career.

James lost his credibility long ago. He's a politician on the make and will pander to the interests that will help him get to the next step.

I see that Sly has made every other one of those politicos his bitch.

Message to Sly, you'll never be Mayor Cleaver. So stop trying.

So the boyz in da hood all currently have CCP Amazing Ask the victims!

If only Sly fought this hard against his tax dodging and pocket lining friends - this city might actually have decent services and be less poor vs rich - the situation which drives violence levels.

When we are ALL better off, violence goes down. But apparently the mayor can only think of himself and his cronies.

Fuck the knuckle dragging cock sucker. He wants to forgive felons while taking my rights away? That mother fucker can suck my ass.

Regularly throwing 464,000 residents under the bus for his own pitiful notion of celebrity.
What a truly sad operation.

So the Mayor in his tiny brain thinks taking away the law abiding citizens the right to bear arms is going to make those in the hood all of a sudden start acting right and obeying the laws of the land. I don't know what crazy juice he is drinking but he best stop it.

StupidDave, you're the one with a tiny brain. He's a lawyer, educated, what are you?

It's you gun nuts who are on the wrong side of this debate, & the wrong side of history.

So Sly's gone from U.S. Marine to Mr. Frosty the Magic Unicorn Dreamer

Anonymous said...

Sly wants KC to be the next Chicago which has strictest gun laws in the country and the most murders.

4:56 stop showing your ignorance every time Dave makes a comment.

Fuck him.... If they want to make it illegal to have a gun so be it.
It will just make me a criminal to add the the list of real criminals.
They just want everyone to be a criminal in one form or another.
I'm going to own a gun. Legal or not.

They caught the second Walmart shooter he just got out of jail in July

this is to deflect responsbility for lack of leadership in addressing crime, among the other reasons enumerated above.

Ever since my honey pie put on an extra 40 pounds, I can't seem to get old big ed up and running unless I got me a firearm to fondle while me and the misses are heating up the mobile home.

Please don't screw with my firearms. I'm pretty sure it's in one of those rights things. Course, I could not tell you what are in the other for. When Trump gets elected, I'm going to get me one of those jobs on the wall.

This isn't leadership. It's some kind of sick focking joke!

Fuck you slime

Is this the place where people come when they are without the social skills necessary to communicate with those they disagree?

And Tony finds purpose in that?

Why don't we start deporting those who add functionality nothing to our society?

Ian trying to visualize a white guy working picking fruit. I'm getting zero.

OLATHE— A judge has denied self-defense claims from one of four men charged in a fatal gunfight at a Shawnee gun store.

6:20, I hope they will give you your money back for that creative writing course you took. It didn't help.

You are right. Definitely deflecting from their lack of leadership.

Why don't they take their authority into the "black community" and demand that the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters and sons turn in the illegal guns their relatives have in their possession? It's time they looked into their own homes and called out those who are committing the crimes.

It starts at home.

4:56 is a fucking libtard moron. You can't heal the dumb fucks until they become the victim. Then their crappy judgement is someone else's fault. Fucking drama queens.

Guess the citizens of Shawnee got the message after the She's a Pistol attempted robbery and shootout. Time to arm ourselves. Thank you KS legislative for ccw without a permit. One bad guy dead at the Walmart, other will be in custody b4 long.

Damn near every point made by these yahoos is already covered under state or federal law. It is a felony for a convicted domestic abuser to ever posses a firearm. It is a felony for a person subject to a domestic protective order to posses a firearm.

So what is being said here is we can not protect women because the local leaders and bureaucrats are not enforcing the law? What about all the LE personnel involved in domestic incidents where the brass sweeps the charges under the carpet so the officer is not banned, by Federal law, from having a firearm? Does that sound like a bunch of bureaucrats trying to protect women? So, the lack of local action makes crime and violence issues the fault of law abiding citizens and the state legislature? Fuck the libtard morons and the bullshit they carried in with them.

Notice how the people who reflexively support the police, ignore the police when it comes to gun control.

This willfully stupid interpretation of the Second Amendment places the police in jeopardy.

Anonymous said...

But, hey, if they keep killing unarmed black men in "self-defense", I don't give a fuck.

But, clearly, you don't give a fuck, either.

To be fair to the Mayor, he has had some success in keeping guns off the streets.

Unfortunately, the guns he's kept off the street are guns that would be issued to the police officers whose budget he has cut.
