TKC MUST READ!!! CONSERVATIVE CASHILL BLAMES KANSAS CITY STAR AND UNIFIED GOVERNMENT FOR SCHLITTERBAHN VERRÜCKT DECAPITATION!!!

In defense of partisan media attacks attempting to connect Kansas Gov. Brownback to one of the most horrific tragedies of this Summer, Kansas City's most prolific conservative author offers a vehement defense.

Checkit:

After Schlitterbahn, a Rush to Regulate - Capitalizing on personal and community tragedy, the forces of ever-bigger government disregard facts—as well as decency.

Money line . . .

"Regulation . . . Could not begin to encode the variables that make an industry safe, especially one as tricky to commodify as the amusement park industry. Schlitterbahn owners, I am confident, will make the necessary corrections, even if it means shutting the Verruckt down. If they want to save their business, they will have to. Unlike the officials of the Unified Government or the editors of The Kansas City Star, the Schlitterbahn people cannot point fingers and pretend they had no responsibility for Caleb Schwab’s death . . ."

One of the smarter TKC blog community denizens sent this one our way because it attempts to explain: <b>"How government regulation is not needed because obviously (according to Cashill) a business will do what is right because it is in their self-interest to do so." Which is a good theory right up until the point some kid's head is torn off and lax safety procedures are discovered that probably saved money over more stringent and effective inspection that would've ultimately saved lives.

You decide . . .

  1. lol! Yes, once finding out their product will sever someone's head which Sophomore engineering students could have figured out THEN they will not operate such a ride.

    That guy is retarded.

Where does a decapitation fit in?

I dare him to say decapitation on KCWIR.

  4. 2:44, please explain how the accident was due to a defect that a sophomore engineering student could have figured out. There have been lots of rumors and speculation, but I have not read or heard of any official review that categorically pinpointed the problem.

  5. Now that was a different perspective. Actually on the inside sort of speak and not an outsider nose pressed against the glass. Not privy to that world we mourn the loss of a child. Gone too soon. Always saw Cashill as tough and hard. Interesting.

  8. Problems include: Bleeding edge features- tallest, fastest, and apparently a lack of knowledge requiring a build, test, modify, test process to get it in operation:

"The first full-sized version of the slide that was tested was essentially a basic slide that would have sent riders on essentially a free fall for 17 stories, and then a 55-foot hump afterward.

Test rafts on that version continually flew off the slide. That was captured on film and aired publicly. “Tipped over and killed every sandbag in there,” Henry says on one video clip."

Shit! What could go wrong? Good thing there were highly qualified and skilled operators to run the tallest fastest velcro safety belted thrill ride.

Any above average mechanical engineering or aero engineering sophomore will recognize that Verruckt has way too many variables to calculate with any degree of certainty how it will actually operate.

One more question: why was the "safety" netting added?

The specific problem imo: Design fuckery from the start. The only question is were they too stupid to realize they were engaged in design fuckery?

  15. It may seem callous but Cashill is correct. More regulation would not have saved Caleb.
