James calls for governor to pardon 'Medicaid 23'
There are more than a few Kansas City ministers and activists in this crew who plan to appeal a charge for disrupting the State Capitol in order to advocate for healthcare and sing Amazing Grace which actually earned the support of some GOP lawmakers.

Mayor James, who is an attorney by the way, demands the Governor pardon a group of individuals who violated the law? WTF?
ReplyDeleteNever mind that these individuals thought they were standing up on behalf of others. Everyone is responsible for their actions. When you disobey a law officer's commands you must be willing to pay the price for that disobedience.
Mayor James is, of course, pandering to this constituency. Just like he panders to East-side residents while ignoring their neighborhoods. Just like he panders to the $15/hour minimum wage protesters, though he knows the state rules on that issue. Just like he panders to the urban core youth with pizza/dance parties, though their parents are responsible for their supervision. Just like he panders to the KCPS, though he attended a Catholic school and sent his children to private school.
Mayor James and others, please STOP promoting the culture of lawlessness and perpetual victimhood.
The Mayor is making a mistake trying to think he can buy loyalty here. Most of the Revs would be happy to protest against him and are already working to bring about tax subsidy reform because of the mayor.

ReplyDeleteThe Medicaid 23 keep their conviction, but here's their sentence: each one gets paired with a cop assigned to the Troost-Paseo-18 th & Vine areas of town. They have to accompany their cop on patrol of these shitholes every weekend night for a year. Might be enough to really make these reverends come to Jesus, as they're dodging bullets.
