The argument here is that the restaurant could have done more to keep patrons safe . . . Like it or not, if the suit is successful it could threaten every bar and restaurant on the Plaza making the location unprofitable . . . it would too easy for us locals to abandon the plaza. if the plaza can't be saved, neither can anything else.

I'm at a loss to figure out what the restaurant did that it shouldn't have, or didn't do that it should have, to cause the attack. I suspect this is one of those lawsuits that, when thrown against a wall, will leave nasty stains.

ReplyDelete@4:22, What do you mean "would be"? Most people with sense avoid the Plaza like the plague now, and have for some time. Unfortunately, besides the pretty architecture, the Plaza has become the same type of strip mall you can find anywhere in America, not to mention the riffraff that dominates it. There are too many nice places throughout the metro to shop and dine without the same risk of crime or violence.

8:54 what about the UMKC student jumped and beaten by at least six "teens" (read: black people) last weekend? Was that just a guy walking down the street fight? Race had everything to do with it. How boutique you take a stroll on the Plaza later at night this weekend. Do it by yourself and be sure to walk directly by passing ks of young black males. See what happens. When they are beating the shit out of you, robbing you, and maybe shooting you, remember it's not racism.
