Will Kansas City Developers Hire Local???

Another local feel-good effort given that Kansas City companies have historically FAILED to live up to any requirements stipulated by City Hall. Here's the hype report from City Hall's news outlet: KC Council calls for more local jobs with subsidized projects

Comments

  1. Translation: If you want your free taxpayer money you have to hire these government subsidized, inexperienced, unqualified minority/black shell companies. Don't worry though, they never show up to the job. They just collect the money.

  2. Not going to work.

  3. From what I can see the current requirement is that they are all white and from Belton or Raymore.

  4. These resolutions don't mean squat. Council passes feel good crappy and companies and contractor so whatever they want to and have been doing all along. No one living in KC will get a job out of this, especially not at Cerner project.

  5. And now KC can hire another compliance officer to monitor residency requirements. Compliance Monitor I gets a promotion to CM II. If CM II gets federally certified to begin monitoring for the inclusiveness of LGBTs on jobsites then a promotion to CM III is in the works. Small gubmint run amok. Ugh.

  6. I'm amused, some of you people on here set your expectation standards much higher than you yourselves can deliver. If you understood a tidbit of what capturing local hires with subsidized projects could offer to urban communities, then you might be considered for an opinion. You might even support and push that position. These type policies lead to noticeable changes in their respective communities.
