TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! WHICH ONE OF THESE KANSAS CITY PUBLIC OFFICIALS SHOULD WE BLAME FOR THE BLOODY SUMMER 2016 CRIME WAVE AND WILL VOTERS HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE???

This weekend two children were gunned down amid an ongoing spate of violence that has pushed the murder count in Kansas City to record highs for this time of year.

Typically, social media chatter blames guns, poverty, Trump and or any social ill that's mostly beyond the control or influence of Kansas City residents.

Sadly, in the ongoing discussion of rising violence in Kansas City the responsibility of public officials is seldom a topic of public discussion. Until now . . .

To wit . . .

TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL QUESTION: WHICH ONE OF THESE PUBLIC OFFICIALS DESERVES THE MOST BLAME FOR THE HORRIFIC RISE IN KANSAS CITY VIOLENCE AMID BLOODY SUMMER 2016!!!

Here are the nominees with just a bit of background to better inform a decision from our blog community . . .

DOES CHIEF FORTÉ DESERVE BLAME FOR RISING KANSAS CITY CRIME???

He's not an elected official but he still answers to the public trust and a board appointed by elected officials. Recently, the Chief has endured a media firestorm over controversial remarks and push back from rank & file officers across the metro who openly questioned the viability of his tenure. Mainstream news reported that support "from the streets" and the community prove his effectiveness. However, budget problems and rising crime numbers amid discord with this colleagues provide reason to question his culpability in the current crime spike.

Council Lady Jolie Justus Leads The Citizens Task Force On Violence That Has Been The Biggest Running Joke Of 2016

The ongoing silence from this group led by Council Lady Jolie is one of the clearest signs that public participation in anti-violence initiatives is ultimately a waste of time. Members have dropped out, the anti-gun bent of the group has been hotly debated and during the primary the meeting served as nothing more than a series of political rallying functions for Democratic Party candidates . . .

Worse still . . . Midtown Kansas City in the 4th District has endured one of the worst upticks in local crime and Council Lady Jolie hasn't said ANYTHING about this tragic trend. Instead, we've heard more about her supporters pushing her to run for Mayor.

Should Mayor Sly Shoulder Blame For The Deadly Kansas City 2016 Crime Wave???

Mayor Sly is great at expressing anger, empathy and frustration at so many local killings but his legislative efforts toward the problem have been mostly unimpressive. Yes, there a great many anti-violence programs City Hall funds but if we think about local government in terms of allocations . . . Look at all the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS Mayor Sly has helped direct toward taxpayer funded development schemes for the benefit of local corporations and weigh that against the funding of so many anti-crime groups -- Only then will the priorities of his administration become clear.

And so . . .

HOLDING LOCAL PUBLIC OFFICIALS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE LIVING CONDITIONS OF KANSAS CITY SHOULDN'T BE CONTROVERSIAL DESPITE THE UNWILLINGNESS OF THE MEDIA TO CONSIDER THEIR RESPONSIBILITY!!!

Nevertheless, politicos, civic boosters, consultants and hacks of all kinds would rather the public focus on esoteric issues decided in faraway places, if at all, then looking toward people in power locally to take responsibility for the jobs they have sworn to uphold.

Accordingly . . .

Pick one of these folks and tell us why you think they deserve the blame for so many people and kids getting gunned down this year...

Comments

  1. Guns, it's always the guns that are the problem. Guns can't lose their jobs or elections so it's easier to blame them. Something that KC voters should consider.

    ReplyDelete
  2. I don't know if it's effective to blame people but encouraging responsibility is never a bad thing.

A better question for all leaders in KC is simple: What have you done to try and stop the killing?

That seems like something that would be more productive to ask. And I bet the answers would be even more helpful than that.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Public officials taking responsibility? Certainly you jest!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Why are you trying to blame these people? They did not kill anyone. The responsibility lies with the person who pulled the trigger. Plain and simple.

    ReplyDelete
  5. C. All of the above, as well as a completely useless local media whose role should be outrage and questions. Nope, they're empty-headed shills and cheerleaders.

    ReplyDelete
  6. All of the above would be D. I vote D. .

    ReplyDelete

    1. D is for Darryl Forte. He has run the KCPD into the ground. It will take a strong leader and years to recover, if it is even able to at this point.

  7. NAFTA, and the money grubbing rich are to blame. We need to become nationalistic and stop buying imported goods. Jobs will lower the violence.

Trump is the only hope we black people have, Billary is not going to help us.

  8. Obviously it's not one person's fault, but I'm really disappointed with the Mayor's focus of resources Downtown instead of in urban communities.

We need to begin to prioritize the needs of the most violent zip codes by providing access to quality education, safe, monitored activities, and jobs. This could include (should include) building more affordable housing and bus transit in the Northland; specifically in the Twin Creeks development. But integration of the east side (not to be mistaken for gentrification and displacement) is also something that does not get enough support from city hall.

Stop blaming guns and address the root of the problem; areas of little economic opportunity.

    2. I just shake my head at replies like this. While I'm definitely not a proponent of the money that was spent on the trolley, etc., this whole song and dance about quality education and jobs is overrated. You can't drive a block in the KC metro without seeing "now hiring" signs. The vast majority of negroes don't want to work anywhere doing anything unless it's rapping or pro sports. The same goes for education ... Billions of dollars have been thrown at educational opportunities for them; everything from free supplies and food programs to college grants, scholarships, etc. and look how much good it's done. Although there are exceptions to every rule, the majority of them could be given a private-school education and a six-figure job but they would find ways to ruin it inside of a week.

  10. I say put nothing on the east side. Remove the police and fire stations. Stop fixing the roads and shut off the water. Tell them they get everything back when they start cooperating with police on these murders.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The Chief repeatedly gave the "community" and his relationship with them credit for the reduction last year, so I think you have to put the blame there now that they're failing. Forte is a master at taking credit and then deflecting blame, but he should wear this one. He'll undoubtedly blame the police and their "unreasonable fear" for the black-on-black homicides because it takes the spotlight away from him. The real issue is the officer of the PD don't trust him and have stopped being proactive in addressing the violent crime in black neighborhoods. That will continue as long as the police are under attack on the local and national level. If the BLM movement, supported by Forte, want black neighborhoods to be de-policed, then we'll let them have their way. I don't think any officer would mind pulling out of those neighborhoods and forming a protective barrier around the neighborhoods that support the police. It would interesting to see where Forte would run and hide if that happened.

  12. TWO BLACK MEN AND A LESBIAN WALK INTO A BAR

Stop me if you've heard this one.

The bartender says "Welcome folks, what can I get you?"

The fat black man tells the bartender that he should build a train track right to his door to increase business. The bartender quickly senses the man's mental illness and just smiles as the man spontaneously begins singing and dancing.

Just then, the fat lesbian loudly announces "I'm the first openly gay person to enter this bar!" and immediately inquires how she collects her reward. The bartender again recognizes the clear signs of mental disease in this individual and offers her a bowl of peanuts.

Finally, the third person, who's wearing a hat labelled "Chief", tells the bartender that he's being a bit too aggressive and needs to de-escalate the situation if everyone is to go home safely tonight. Now realizing that these 3 must be escapees from the local insane asylum, the bartender excuses himself to call 911 and report a Crime In Progress!!

  13. I know, let's not play the Tony Botello Blame Game! Because none of them are responsible.

  14. Put the blame where it belongs: black people. They are the ones committing the violence. All across America in poor white areas like Pittsburg, KS, West Virginia, Lexington, MO, violence is almost non-existent. They are the ones with below room temperature IQ. They are the ones with zero patience, zero impulse control, zero empathy for other humans, zero work ethic, zero desire to change their lot in life. Think about the immigrants that came here 120+ years ago almost penniless, didn't speak English, and had nothing like the social safety net black people have today. And yet those Polish, Italian, Irish, Jewish, etc all managed to pull themselves up from the bottom of society. Is the old KC stockyard area still full of poor Polish immigrants? No. You know why? They (and other nationalities) got EDUCATED and WORKED to keep a better life for themselves. Yet millions of black people have zero interest in doing such thing. And before people like Bryan Stadler scream "racism" think about the bullshit you wrongly believe. Untold trillions has been invested in the black community. NO school district has had more wasted investment in it in the world than the KCSD and that's an indisputable fact. Racism doesn't make kids drop out. Racism doesn't make those same kids have kids at 15 that they have no intention of raising correctly. Racism doesn't make black people shoot other people over such important things like rims, any perceived disrespect, or the street they live on. Mr. Stadler, living in the Northeast you of all people should know the violence, death and destruction black people bring with them. I would think you see it on a daily basis. Do you go to Budd Park? No? I don't blame you because black people have made it too dangerous. If you filled every home in Mission Hills with black people and gave them each a billion dollars it would be a violent ghetto within a year. Black people have had way more than enough investment given to them, it's way,way past time for them to do it for themselves. They can go to college for free, something my kids won't be able to do. Corporations are dying to hire an educated black person but they have a hard time finding them and that's nobody's fault but their own.

    1. At 12:37 yesterday, I was actually tossing a football with my kids and the black lifeguards at the Budd Park pool. I like to believe that a lot of the ignorance here is satire but y'all have an irrational fear of minorities. The ignorant policies you and your parents have supported keep this city divided. Folks need to be held accountable for their own actions but when you move to the suburbs, have no clue what goes on in the urban core, and then blame black kids who grow up without opportunities, I'm afraid it's y'all that are to blame for the violence.

    2. Bryan,
I see your opinions here and in other channels from time to time and sometimes you make good arguments. But blaming inner city violence and crime on suburbanites is the silliest thing I've ever read.

  18. The Chief is not to blame. In good faith he appoints commanders that are "YES MEN and WOMEN" that have no clue about the community or investigations and will not be truthful to the Chief. They just want to make it to the next rank, and will drink whatever "Kool-Aid" is popular to stay in the "Popular crowd". The ones that claim they know investigations, were last years winners by default and the magic of creative statistics. The race card is easy way to blame Chief Forte. Race is not the issue, but only an easy cop-out. When the # of violent homicides continue to rise, let's see who steps up with a viable PLAN.

  19. Well, when you vote for a bunch of elitist spoiled brats like Jolie and Company what do you expect? Certainly not real solutions.

I suspect that once more of her constituents see their property values decline in the face of ever-encroaching violence that she might face some pushback. But that would require an attention span, something I deeply suspect Midtowners simply do not possess. Rather they will applaud her non-work and celebrate her ever-widening, er, scope of inquiry.

At any rate, the city is gong downhill fast. Enjoy that, taxpayers. Pay those higher water rates until you ahve no money left to spend in the *real* economy and then wonder why all the businesses are closing shop.

Of course, the lawyers will still be in business. Only thing this city is good at is writing tickets to its citizens. Sad.

    Absolutely pathetic.

  20. The voters of Missouri will never hold a politician accountable. I dare you to name one. They will sit on their ass and tell Kansas how screwed up their leadership is and then turn right around and reelect the slugs that have been sticking it to them or they will just be too apathetic to vote. As long as bad behavior and conduct is rewarded like this it will be encouraged.

  21. It is really the KCMO school district that is to blame. Not enough focus is given to get children educated and to get parents involved in what is going on with their kids.

    1. Yep. Forte has irreparably damaged the PD and the spineless BOPC has allowed it to happen.

      Delete
    2. And he does not CARE that he has caused this damage. He makes a lot of noise but when push comes to shove he fails to show up at meetings and events - many that he himself has called for or arranged. He does not want any kind of confrontation or any situation where he may have to answer difficult questions. When he does show up he wants questions ahead of time so he can pick the least controversial ones to answer. He will never be able to regain the respect and trust of the rank and file...and it looks like that's just fine with him. Disappointment in his leadership (absolute lack of) and lack of concern for his people doesn't begin to describe it. If you are not a member of that department you don't have a clue how bad it is. Many feel this environment is going to lead to a tragedy and there will be no one to turn to.

  23. Put the blame on the killers, their families, their immediate community. They act out aggressive behavior openly and are not checked. They murder and are not checked. They commit crimes for profit and are not called to explain just how the hell they got that money without a job.

Put the jail time on the killers and their support group.

Stop with the poor me I got handed a bad history bullshit. So shut the fuck up and get that gun outta my face. No you can't kick down my door and not have civil society chase your ass to jail.

Thugs, thieves, wankers tweakers all from the same flawed DNA. Your criminal actions are not a disease.

And as for the poster children for stfu all of them have stayed around to long. Beat it Justus, Forte, and James. You tired of hearing about more dead children? We are thoroughly tired of you profiting from the ongoing slaughter. You say you have no answers? Then go!

  24. This is what happens when you elevate people to positions of responsibility and authority because of identity politics and not because the person is the most experienced and qualified. If Sly James was some obese bow tie wearing white trial lawyer from Waldo he would not be mayor but since he is a black tow tie wearing trial lawyer from Waldo, he is. Would things be better if the positions were filled with a black, gay, disabled woman with Hispanic ancestry?

  25. Just hold more vigils, organize another crime commission or another worthless committee or task force.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 12:37 - spot on. The overall encompassing problem is today's black culture. Black crime rates didn't soar until black out-of-wedlock rates soared. A primary reason for that high illegitimacy rate is because the government subsidizes it through welfare, child support payments, food stamps, etc. The single mothers spend a lot of that money on themselves, not their kids. The out-of-wedlock kids are raising themselves, with no positive role models, basically becoming feral animals.

One possible way to limit the damage: the public economic assistance to mothers stops after the first kid (legitimate or illegitimate). An IUD is inserted in the mother, or she is sterilized - mandatory. For all males to receive public economic assistance, they must have a birth control device inserted or is sterilized - mandatory. Stop subsidizing people on the public dole to have more kids in order to make more money.
