The murder of innocent children in Kansas City proper incited strong emotions and tough talk during a recent protest that might ultimately thwart a social media movement with a muddled message.
To wit . . .
SUBTLE THREATS OF RETALIATION ACCOMPANIED A RECENT KANSAS CITY EAST SIDE RALLY IN HOPES THAT THE #BABIESLIVESMATTER MOVEMENT WOULD HELP TO CURB LOCAL VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN AND HIGHLIGHT A CALL FOR JUSTICE!!!
Here's an important aspect of the rally . . .
After a group of half-a-dozen men finished passing out fliers to people driving by the scene of the most recent shooting at Church's Chicken at Gregory and Prospect, the message of nonviolence became muddled by emotion.
Minister Vincent Mohammed talked about finding the killer of Jayden and Montell.
"We are going to find them and when we do, we can only say to them, 'Have that same little gun that you had, and we`ll see if you can kill all of us,'" Mohammad said.
When asked if he was advocating violence, he responded, "No, I am advocating what Jesus said, if you live by the sword, you die by the sword . . ."

A few more other reasons this might not work . . .
- It's not an original hashtag. Actually many anti-abortion activists use #babieslivesmatter to highlight their cause but strong Democratic Party alliances throughout urban core Kansas City prevents any challenge this baby killing tenant of so-called "progressive" pro-Hillary politics.
- Look closely at the reports . . . Not really a well attended event, vigil, protest, rally . . . Whatever.
- Again, the threat is explained but even the idea of advocating vigilantism and repeating the same cycle of violence that begets this kind of killing of the innocent in the first place shows us that this is probably yet another KCMO anti-crime effort with good intentions but ultimately going nowhere.

Have to disagree here: It might not be the right message for a preacher but I see where the man is coming from. If people who killed kids know that there are greater consequences than just a bored jackson county judge waiting for them, maybe they might second guess their actions that create so many dead babies.
ReplyDeleteKeeping the peace is important but nobody feels sorry for somebody who is going to gun down innocent children in their own home.
Rallies and vigils don't work for a lot of reasons and they're not all bad.
ReplyDeleteThis one might not have been great but these are still the kind of people who want to do the right thing, help the their community and stop the killing.
The people who shoot kids and commit the crimes that inspire these rallies are not listening, they have no politics and they are simply violent killers.

ReplyDeleteSo fucking sick of hearing from black the same tired slogans and vigils, especially coming from another self-proclaimed "preacher" in the hood. Black people have been talking for decades now about how to improve the "community" yet they only get worse. My dad told me about a black lady he saw on tv back in the 60s saying how they were going to prove to white people they could do more than just shoot each other on a Saturday night. Well she was right, now they shoot each other every day of the week. Black people are all talk. The way out of their situation is education and employment, neither of which do they have any interest in. They are perfectly content dropping out, having kids at 15, and being on welfare their entire lives, just like their mom, grandma, and great grandma before them. They literally ruin everything they touch.

We must do better, I don't blame these folks for being mad. But what we need to do is encourage people to come forward with information, not try to play judge, just and executioner.
