TKC EXCLUSIVE BEHIND THE SCENES!!! ACCUSATIONS OF 'BULLYING' TRADED IN BATTLE BETWIXT KCPD CHIEF FORTÉ AND NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS AMID DEBATE OVER COMMUNITY INTERACTION OFFICERS!!!

Kansas City's Chief of Police is embroiled in another controversy and while the staffing decision is well known . . . Insiders offer our blog community AN EXCLUSIVE BEHIND THE SCENES perspective.

To wit . . .

CHECK THIS WORD FROM INSIDERS OFFERING A PEEK INTO THE LATEST KANSAS CITY COMMUNITY POLICING DEBATE WHEREIN BOTH SIDES ALLEGEDLY ACCUSE ONE ANOTHER OF BULLYING!!!

Here's the word . . .

"As I am sure you know; Chief Forté is dissolving the CIO position from KCPD. After many emails were sent to Chief Forté in protest of this action, he called a meeting of neighborhood leaders to discuss his thought process. In this "meeting" (Press-Op) Chief Forté spent over an hour lecturing us about bullying and how by sending him emails explaining our disapproval was us bulling him. He set this meeting up with barely 24hrs notice, then proceeded to invite the media which was uncalled for and filled the room with his entourage; thus bulling the concerned citizens in the room. During the question segment he continued his bullying by not allowing anyone who disagreed with him finish their questions, he would just interrupt them and talk over them, the questions he did answer were in true political round about form. Not once did he answer the questions directly."

Signed: Bullied by Forté
##############

In fairness, the Chief points to the Westside CAN Center for an example of success without CIOs and continues to contend that ALL police should fulfill the duties of this position that's now dissolved.

Example . . .

Nevertheless . . .

THIS IS THE SECOND MAJOR CONTROVERSY INVOLVING THE KCPD CHIEF THIS SUMMER AND THIS TIME AROUND NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS IN NORTHEAST SEEM EXCEPTIONALLY FRUSTRATED WITH THE TOP COP!!!

Developing . . .

  1. This one is tough because the Chief has done a lot of great things for northeast and the 3rd district.

What makes this worse is that it comes right after the debate with the unions. I don't want to say that the Chief is facing strike three but this has definitely been a hard summer for all the leaders in law enforcement.

  3. Forte is a wuss that can't take any degree of questioning or criticism.

  4. It is time for the Chief to step down. Crime is skyrocketing in KC and he wants to remove the one link neighbors have to the police department. I have always been a supporter of his but this is definitely the worst possible thing he could do.

  6. Nah. There's a couple of Northeast folks who are bullies to anyone or anything that they can't control or take credit for. Once the Chief explained his position, most of the folks I've talked to seem to trust his decision. If y'all were cc'd on any of these emails or reply all's, you'd shit your pants. We're still working on our communication skills over here. I've had enough of every elected and appointed government official having their inboxes filled with internal griping. We're a diverse bunch here in Northeast, so we're not all gonna agree all the time, but city and state representatives don't need to be a part of that.

    1. Yeah I hear there are Trump voters AND morons who think climate change isn't real in the godforsaken slum known as the Northeast! And sometimes they're the same person!! Plus there are people who think raising a negro child among whites is somehow proper!!! Now that's stupidity!

Hey! I forgot! You're ALL THREE of those idiots in one, Statler!!

    2. Trusting Forte is a huge mistake. The officers in the field do not have the time, resources or accessibility of the CIO's. You're fucked.

    3. Bryan Esq.this is one of the most idiotic statements to drool out of you.
When is the last time you have EVER been involved in a crime watch or dealt 1 on 1 with the police.
      Forte must go.
He is simply out of touch with the community he is sworn to protect

    4. 9:41; I participate in multiple crime watch networks and communicate with the East Side CIO almost daily. None of that is going to change, except he won't be called CIO anymore. Hopefully we'll get better results from our police with the Chief's higher expectations. If you haven't noticed, there's civil rights protests going on all over the country and Chief Forté is the only leader in this city who is attempting to address it proactively.

  7. The chief could announce he was going to pass out $100 bills to everyone and there still would be people that bitched. If you are a leader, and someone is not complaining, you are not doing your job. Hang in there chief.

  8. Forte doesn't want interaction with any "community" except the black community, which he acts as the CIO for. When he talks about improved relations with the "community," he is only talking about his relationship with his community. The rest of the department isn't engaged with him or his community in any way, shape or form. Of course, only 7 members of his community showed up at his rally, so they don't give a shit either. It's all a show. He doesn't have the intelligence or interest to get into a reasoned debate on this issue because it doesn't help him in his efforts toward self-preservation. Neighborhood leaders need to show up at board meetings and speak if they want to get any traction on their disapproval. That will best illustrate his narrow view of what "community" is.

  11. Asking an ineffective black police chief to step down would be RAYSHITZ, right?

  12. Rumor is the Chief wanted all the inner city CIO's to be black, however this caused heated conversations with his members of management. Also, lots of Captains and some Majors have lost faith, however they will not speak up due to being fearful of being titled a RACIST. Rumor is that a few black commanders are embarrassed by his actions as well.

  13. I am pretty sure Forte trashed talked the Westside CAN center guys, calling them "a couple of white guys" not too long ago. Now he points to them as a success with out CIOs? Also the CAN center officers attend school events and pick up trash just to name a few. That is a lot more community interaction that most of the other CIOs ever got into. They are also not regular beat cops and do not have to answer calls for service. This allows them the time to do these these things. You will get almost zero interaction from a regular patrol officer and no consistancy of contact.

  14. This is ridiculous. He works for us, and we should be able to ask him questions without him calling the NAACP. I simply cannot work with him. Maybe we should partner with the police union to see if the governor will do something with him. From what I have read he doesn't have any support from his officers. Anyone else sick of this shit?

  15. As a patrol Sgt for many, many years within this once top of the line organization (KCPD), I will tell you that the Patrol guys/gals will not have the time to talk one on one for extended periods of time with members of the community. Why, you ask? Put simply, our fearless, racist leader pulled many Officers from the field (streets) and put them in special units such as KC-NOVA, LERC and a few other "touchy-feely Hug-A-Thug" units without replacing those beat cops. Eliminating the CIO positions are a slap in the face to Community Groups especially in the inner city. Funny how the Chef originally bitched about the "White" Officers at the Westside Center, now changes his tune. Trust me folks, your Patrol Officers are overworked, severely understaffed, haven't had step increases for years now, and have the worst morale that I have ever seen in my 25 plus years. Can't say I don't blame them one bit in the "Morale" Department, especially when you have a leader who has made folks wearing "Blue" more of a target. Dumbest thing I have ever heard come from the mouth of a so called "Leader". Perhaps its time the Board step up and start a nationwide search for the top spot. PD needs a leader, not a whiner.

    1. 9:59; This is disingenuous. Of course patrol officers don't have the time to chat at 9:PM on a Friday night, but I've frequently chatted with east side patrol officers during the day. Forté has been sending Detectives out to community events as well. I've met more police over the past four months than I have in seven years with the neighborhood association.

I'm sympathetic to some of the really great police officers who are upset by the changes to the department, but policing is going to have to change all over the country. Cities are going to have to update their affordable housing and economic development policies as well.

    3. Instead of updating "affordable housing," how about those who grow up with the affordable housing mindset update their own skills. Get a job that allows you to purchase a reasonable home. THEN, take pride & maintain that home.

I know . . . Pipe dream. Maybe Bryan can take in a border or six in an effort to support his own call to action.

    4. Policing is going to have to change all over the country....? WHAT, precisely, is THAT supposed to mean? Hopefully, you mean "prosecution" is going to have to change, all over the country.... as in, putting criminals in jail, and keeping them in jail, so the rest of us don't have to deal with them....but, that is just me presuming to know what you "meant"....Do us the courtesy of explaining your comment, please.

  18. Morale at this point is worse than when that POS Bishop was the chief. In over 20 years, I never thought it could be worse but "Durrell" Forte has proven me wrong. Officers have 0 respect for him. He has promoted the "Ferguson Effect" by his racist statements, lack of respect for the safety of field officers and playing the race card when his decisions are questioned ie; threats (lol) to involve the NAACP and SCLC. What a piece of work we have to "lead" our department. He's a race baiter, bully, and narcissist!!!

    1. Exactly right - Every.Single.Word. No one could ever have imagined a regime worse than Bishop's...but it's happened. Someone needs to take a stand and address it and then begin the long, painful, and difficult job of rebuilding trust and equal treatment.

    1. Oh, you haven't heard? I'm voting for Trump and I'm a climate change denier. I just had this weird idea that black folks have equal protection in the Constitution and it's more efficient to proactively address crime with youth rather than chase 911 calls and clog our court system & prisons.

I wasn't aware conservatives endorsed a police state or inequality.

  21. Hey BRYAN...come ride with an East Zone Officer & maybe that will help you pull your head out of your ass! Wait until you see a 25 year old male who just beat his own mama because she wouldn't give him $10 to buy booze! That kind of shit in the inner city isn't the exception. If you can beat your mama over some Colt 45, you don't deserve the "PRIVILEGES" of tax paying LAW ABIDING CITIZENS!!! Come and discover the BS we are supporting when law abiding & tax paying citizens finance sculptured nails, elaborate tatoos, nicer cars and jewelry than most can afford....don't forget the government cell phones law abiding and tax paying citizens "don't qualify for" Quit burying your liberal head in the sand and enjoy a nice, peaceful, eye opening experience in this shit hole called the "blighted neighborhoods."
