SURPRISE!!! MAYOR SLY AND CITY COUNCIL HATE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR PART DEUX!!!

The cheerleaders of a controversial new plan to expand the Downtown Kansas City streetcar aren't finding any support at City Hall.

To wit . . .

TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! ONCE AGAIN TOY TRAIN SUPPORTERS WERE SHUT DOWN AT CITY HALL WHEN EXPLAINING THEIR STREETCAR EXPANSION PLANS!!!

Quick run down of the opposition and more behind the scenes reporting than anybody else in KC is providing . . .

4th District At-Large Council Lady Katy Shields Seyz It's Too Soon To Push Streetcar Part Deux

It's her district and once again Council Lady Shields calls for more time to study the current streetcar operation beyond all of the hype from Twitter. It's a good call considering everyone knows those ridership numbers are fake.

Mayor Sly Isn't Convinced . . .

This one is surprising . . . While Mayor Sly would never upset his strongest supporters . . . His lack of enthusiasm is a clear sign that toy train cheerleaders are off track.

Northland Politicos Tired Of Being Ignored

Council Dude Fowler and Council Lady Teresa Loar are already on record with their opposition but as the Northland expands it seems that these new reps are willing to fight for resources.

More to the point . . .

ANOTHER RIGGED TDD VOTE WOULD BE A DISASTER FOR ANY POLITICO ON KANSAS CITY AND CITY HALL KNOWS AS MUCH!!!

Strangely enough . . . Streetcar expansion isn't a horrible idea but this sneaky scheme hatched by consultants and cheerleaders CLEARLY didn't include politicos or other insiders and the effort to keep the gravy train going grows increasingly unlikely.

Also . . . The upcoming General Obligation bond vote is the sole focus of politicos at City Hall and anything that would risk it is getting pushed aside . . . If the consultant creeps in charge of the streetcar expansion effort knew as much . . . They would've planned their pipe dream a bit better.

Developing . . .

  1. I think if they worked on giving away free ponies to all the residents along that would help, but then they wouldn't need the streetcar.

  2. I like the streetcar almost as much as I do reading Tony's unrelenting, and purposeless, attempts to influence public transportation policies.

Witnessing your toxic commentary fail to do shit outside your vile group of denizens is beyond amusing.

But you could lie on the tracks and whine at the rails if it made you feel better. Hell, that would beat the deep thinking here.

Just be sure to post a pic.

  6. Streetcar is a plan for failure. It isn't working now, why expand it?

  7. This is BS from City Hall trying to make you believe they are really looking out for the taxpayers. This is all a smoke screen to make the sheep all fall asleep, so they can jam an extension down their throats before they even knows what happened.

  8. Well, sir, there's nothing on earth
    Like a genuine, bona fide
    Electrified, six-car monorail
    What'd I say?

    Monorail
    What's it called?
    Monorail
    That's right! Monorail

    Monorail
    Monorail
    Monorail

I hear those things are awfully loud
It glides as softly as a cloud
Is there a chance the track could bend?
Not on your life, my Hindu friend

    What about us brain-dead slobs?
    You'll be given cushy jobs
Were you sent here by the Devil?
No, good sir, I'm on the level

The ring came off my pudding can
Take my pen knife, my good man
    I swear it's Springfield's only choice
Throw up your hands and raise your voice

    Monorail
    What's it called?
    Monorail
    Once again
    Monorail

But Main Street's still all cracked and broken
Sorry, Mom, the mob has spoken

    Monorail!
    Monorail!
    Monorail!
    Monorail!

    Mono, d'oh!

  10. I appreciate the scepticism from city hall. If streetcar extends to UMKC via the Plaza, it's not a bad plan, but I really dislike mail in ballots forming a TDD based on previous election results as a means of approving it. If we want to spend $250M to send streetcar to The Plaza, these folks need to make the case to the city, not create a special district and exclude themselves. Northland needs sidewalks. East side needs schools and jobs.

  12. The TDD trick only worked once. Even in Kansas City you can't screw over voters like that all of the time.

  13. No, America needs a wall, Anon 7:53. Mexico already takes care of its illegal entrants, by sending them back where they came from.

    1. Or you could just join the small circle of racist storm front streetcar supporters. Come early though, the "elephant walk" is something that must be seen to be believed.

In other words, nobody gives a shit.

  15. Streetcar is a waste of money and time. Is it too much to ask KCMO to fix the sewers and the streets?

  20. Meh, given how everything else goes in this town, the expansion will go on as planned. This so-called skepticism by city hall is a front.

    ReplyDelete
  21. ^^^^ No THAT is wisdom.

    ReplyDelete
  22. ^^^^^actions speak louder than words, have them go on record that they oppose the expansion and publish it.

  23. An experiment was tried and it failed. After an initial period, other cities with streetcars started charging a fare. Will need to do this in KCMO.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So if the streetcar expansion is approved, it won't be operational to UMKC until 2022. Does anyone else realize how ridiculous this is? With the advances in Bus Rapid Transit, much better than the Max bus, and self-driving vehicles, the streetcar to UMKC will be obsolete before it even gets completed to UMKC in 2022.

  25. The toot toot is by definition obsolete. Our great-grandparents wisely decided in favor of bus transit 60 years ago and took up the rails. All the toot toot is in this century is a nostalgic amusement park ride celebrating the wisdom of our ancestors.
