Sounds fishy. Never had a healthcare provider ask to talk to my kids privately. And certainly not talking privately about reproductive options. And why would Children's Mercy lie? This dad just sounds ranting political. No, this story does not add up.

Agree. Never happened. This is a made up story from a wing nut looking for publicity for his own personal crusade. The idea that the health care industry is looking for future abortion patients is patently absurd. I have taken my child to the doctor multiple times and never once have they requested to speak privately with the child. They only do that when they suspect abuse at the home. That might be the case here.

Or...the physician suspected child abuse and tried to talk with the kids without the presence of a possible suspect.

Maybe he wanted to show them himself.

Everyone knows that private sex talk is is the responsibility of the priest, not the doctor.

It's so they can remove the parents and give the kids PROFITABLE and DANGEROUS HPV shots.

The guy is an attention-seeking drama queen.

Maybe the doctor was wondering why this guy was so upset and nervous. Is the guy such a control freak (definite red-flag) that he was afraid of , not what the doctor was going to say to the kids, but what the kids were going to tell the doctor about HIM?
All that he had to do is say, "no". Then go home and do his investigating about the legality.
Where was Mommy during all of this?

Eh, Doctor's have private moments with teens all the time. To ask them about sex, drugs or alcohol. These are conversations that a child might not be honest about in front of their parent but is important to the doctor as far as the health of the child.

Kid says yes they are participating in these things, the doctor talks about health issues related to such. May also test for diseases that otherwise may not be necessary for a kid that doesnt participate in any of them.

Its not a conspiracy. They are not trying to ruin your family etc, their concern is solely the health of the teen.

Dear Dad:

Try to focus here: Someday soon, your puppies are going to have to learn about the human body. For their own good, it should be from someone other than you, since you will undoubtedly skip important details. Like how NOT to get pregnant.

FYI? Ignorance is the second-least effective method of birth control. The least effective is abstinence lectures.

I understand that for emotional and religious reasons, you want your kids to remain "innocent" and their information intake under your control. In addition to unhealthy, that is impossible. Unless you have kept them locked in your basement, the world has and will seep in.

As both the beneficiary and victim of 12 years of Catholic education, let me plead with you not to screw their minds up too badly.

I thought Planned Parenthood was educating everyone with that Federal Tax Payer Money.

Good on a parent for doing right. If that doc has anything to say, he can say it with the dad present. Sex health and moral lessons SHOULD be guided by minors' guardians as much (and far more, ideally) as by medical professionals, or, GASP, the youths' peers. And, GIANT GASPS, if popular culture is emulated for sexual behaviors.

Phil, those "old school" ways of a Sister Brigid Blind-Faith and that Father Francis Infallible does not apply for much of U.S. Catholic education currently. Lucky for this family, dad's not of the nincompoops and nanny-staters variety. He gets the gold medal for great guidance.

Why is a father and not the child's mother taking an 11 year old girl to the doctor for her annual physical?

2:22 - Uh, WTF is to you?
Let's see....mom's away on business travel....mom can't miss work this exact date....mom took her last time and parents alternate to lessen missed work....dad takes to doctor/mom does the dentist appointments....parents are divorced/it's dad's summer
shared custody date....mom's
deceased/seriously
ill....other kids, elder
parent care, or mom's own health conditions and responsibilities have used up allowed personal and vacation time already....mom must preserve whatever allowed time-off is remaining....

OR, how 'bout this totally novel idea---

HE'S DOING WHAT HE PREFERS AND PERHAPS DEEMS IS BEST FOR HIS CHILD ! ! !
