Kansas City Toy Train App Part Deux

The toy train is on the march forward and these tech cheerleaders are along for the ride but not in an official capacity . . . Just one of the army of the "creative class" who support the effort from a safe distance.

We'll have more on this later but for now check the description . . .

"The Disruption Institute is excited to announce version 2.0 of The Streetcar KC app (unofficial). Track realtime location of each car to help confirm arrival times for each stop. The Disruption Institute’s Streetcar app also added a discovery tool to it’s arsenal of features to help you discover the best routes to local experiences."

Sadly, the effort iPhone only so only the trendiest hipsters can access the tech so far.

Developing . . .

STREETCAR phase 2 is a racist plan. It does not include anything on the Eastside. It does not help the Eastside residents get to jobs or shops. It leaves them in the cold yet we will all pay for it. If they set up a TDD we will still all pay as water, gas, and electric bills will escalate all over the city. The expansion is for rich, white people. It is racist!

Where is Black Lives Matter when you need them? Here is a legitimate racist issue they should protest! This expensive project does not help the poorest!

Does it also include information on the buses that are dispatched to pick up stranded riders when the folly trolly breaks down?

Can't wait to see how poorly the streetcar runs this winter with snow and ice. Yet they want people to vote on an expansion to UMKC when we don't even have a winter to observe how it will do in inclement weather? The Streetcar people will say it's been proven in winters elsewhere, however that is not Kansas City and Main Street. Entirely different story. Cars won't be able to see the white lines for parking, ice might be a factor in the rails or overhead wires and we have snow plows that might mess up the streetcar rails in the streets.

TKC promotes the streetcar no matter how much he denies it. Version 2.0 is actually a lot better than the first version which truly sucked ass.
