Northeast News: Police budget cuts pushback

Money line . . .

"Positions of both civilian and commissioned officers have been cut department-wide, putting a greater burden or patrol officers who already go from call to call leaving very little time for problem resolution, much less grabbing a street taco for a quick lunch. Those cuts to the police budget compromise public safety at large. Now on the heels of the recent line of duty deaths in Dallas, Baton Rouge and for the second time in two months, Kansas City, Kansas, the Mayor and council’s decision to cut the Department’s budget for two years running seems to be coming home to roost."

  1. If you gave KCPD a billion dollars they could not get the job done.
It's all about MANAGEMENT not money.

  2. The department is too top heavy, more captains and majors than any other agency their size.

Zero Accountability, the last person to hone in on this was Funkhouser the Auditor, not the Mayor

KCPD is the most inbred law enforcement agency in the country, full of cover ups and double standards, it will never change

  3. KCPD has never left the Pendergast era. Still full of corruption.

  4. Pull all of those cops out of the ghetto and put them where they are appreciated, in white neighborhoods.

  6. Hiring more cops does not correlate to a reduction in crime. There have been multiple studies going back to the 1960s that support this conclusion. Where KC has failed is nurturing an outdated culture by failing to acquire police management from outside KCPD. No one deserves to be chief of police just because they have been hanging around and have stayed out of trouble for decades. That is not talent. Get a chief from another city or keep repeating the same old shit that doesn't work.

Management, culture, training, attitude, technology and public partnerships are all major factors in success. As Einstein concluded: Doing things the same way, over and over again, and expecting different results is insanity.

  7. @2:23 - "Hiring more cops does not correlate to a reduction in crime. There have been multiple studies going back to the 1960s that support this conclusion." Bullshit. If that bogus claim is true, I challenge you to cite even one of those studies, and tell us who authored it. I will bet you can't do it!

  8. 3:09 I'll tell you what ass head. You go do you own fucking homework or educate yourself and stop talking out your dog damn ass. O am right. if i am wrong you go find the study that says I am you stupid cunt.

  9. 3:09 if you can comprehend words with more than six letter and more than two paragraphs at a time here is what you own government says about the bullshit of hiring more cops reduces crime"

    https://www.ncjrs.gov/works/chapter8.htm

This is just one article in literally hundreds that serve to quel the myth of police numbers reducing crime or increase deterrent or protection for the public. Do some research that isn't based on your ignorant numbskull assumptions and you might actually have some knowledge about something moron.

  10. Jobs that pay more than $10 an hour might help.

  11. Fun stuff from Bullshit Bushnell. Too bad a cursory look at city finances reveals that the OD budget has gone up and up and up and up.

  12. 3:29 should have read that report. It doesn't support the earlier claims. Idiot. 3:09 was correct according to the referenced report.

  13. 8:27 You stupid fuck. Do you have no fucking reading comprehension at all?

"A recent review of 36 correlational studies......found little evidence that more police reduce crime.

I should have known that if it wasn't from Marvel Comics someone would not be able to read.

    ReplyDelete
  14. "....the difference in scientific rigor tips the preponderance of the evidence in the direction of the conclusion that police numbers alone do help to reduce crime in a big city or a state."

  15. ^^^^ as stated, In reference to studies lacking credibility or scientific control. Read for god sakes.

  16. @ 9:28 - You are incorrect. The passage cited by the person posting at 9:19 is from a study Sherman found to be valid. YOU need to reread the report. Stop picking and choosing only the passages that support your bogus claims. Doing so, shows just how weak and lame your position really is.
