Quick stop into the Starbucks on Kansas City Country Club Plaza revealed a United Nations like gathering of a diverse clientele conversing with one another in a half a dozen languages at the very least.
Still, this entertainment district is mostly known cross-cultural conflict and a desperate attempt to keep the area safe from the same kind of crime that's running rampant in other parts of the Midtown Kansas City corridor.
Meanwhile, retail is changing overall as Kansas City's first outdoor shopping mall struggles to keep up with the digital age and the fact that people not only hate going out but they're also buying less junk they don't need.
Still, we plan to keep the fire and document the changing landscape of this midsize American city confronting upcoming global economic hardship, greater class divisions and scarcity in the lead up to the era of Chinese hegemony.
The road to the future is unclear as locals might struggle to distinguish illegal fireworks from illegal celebratory gunfire as Kansas City honors the birth of a nation amid a near record high murder rate this Summer.
You decide . . .
New camera? Nice pix. And the Starbucks on the Plaza is gross. Do you ever notice all of the mice running around the patio?

ReplyDeleteI will tell you this, Plaza would do well to take out that movie theater and then they could make some progress.
ReplyDeleteRemember when the Plaza was a nice place to go? And everyone has just stood around and let one race of people destroy it all.
ReplyDeleteWhen the choo choo comes to the Plaza there will be 24 million tourists there every day.
ReplyDeleteIf the choo choo comes to the Plaza, that will be the final nail in the coffin. LaQwanda will be packin the chilluns up for a week-long stay instead of just Saturday nights.
