Written from TKC's old-ass mobile phone . . . Right now I'm about three beers in watching a fat broad in a tube top play with sparklers and thinking about Kansas City Democracy.
Navel-gazing makes for boring blogging but once in awhile it's important to provide a progress report.
So here goes . . .
RIGHT NOW OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY IS TOP SOURCE FOR ALTERNATIVE NEWS, OPINION, DISCOURSE AND BAD JOKES IN KANSAS CITY!!!
While I'd like to take sole credit for this amazing feat of the digital age, the fact is that our place in the local news world is due completely to our reader, commenter and tipster community who have thrown off the shackles of lame-stream "journalism" and realize that talking to the public in a way that gets right down to the point in a language that everyone understands is far more important than supporting a fading corporate hierarchy and their ineffective rituals that ultimately dissuade any real conversation.
But it goes beyond that . . .
There are a lot of great message boards, social media pages and fledgling websites in Kansas City but none of them matter because they're run by people who don't have any insight or connections to local newsmakers OR they're just clickbait operations looking to justify their existence by way of disappearing ad dollars not knowing that in the digital age advertising is like paying for sex . . . The only people who have to do that are the ones who can't get it on their own.
But I digress . . .
This state of our bloggy union realizes that TKC blog community dominance of the local alt. news world isn't without it's struggles and challenges beyond just pulling ourselves out of a futon every morning. There are false flag racists spamming this site with cut and paste garbage they don't even believe because I dumped this crew of old school yokels years ago when it was clear that they only wanted to write for and about a dozen of their friends, additionally the streetcar creeps have declared war on our blog too and somehow think that spamming old news links will convince everybody to stop reading despite the fact that they check in every day throughout the day. Let's not forget that a certain lady politico has promised to shut this blog down after crying about us in front of a local legislative body and calling our blog community "insignificant" despite the fact that she won't shut up about this web presence at just about every local social function . . . Truth is, there are lawsuit, violence and stalker threats against TKC DAILY but that doesn't stop us from exercising our CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHTS in order to sustain one of the most highly trafficked and vibrant FREE SPEECH ZONES Kansas City has ever seen. So we delete spammers, tolerate all the unemployed newspaper dweebs who keep up our name recognition and more than anything . . . And we respect this barely organized collection of TKC blog community denizens AND THEIR FREE SPEECH COMMENTARY from all walks of life and political bents who believe that our discourse, criticism and snark helps improve Kansas City given that most mainstream news has been bought and paid for by City Hall and other failing corporations.
Again, the credit belongs to this community and so many people kind enough to support and help our blog journey. THANK YOU and God Bless the United States of America.

ReplyDeleteI get all my news from Twitter. Their marketing is built in, they have redefined themselves as a news source. In world crisis, people turn to Twitter in order to share information and communicate.

Sure we piss off more than one politician with what we say but oh well life is a bitch sometimes and if dealing with the truth is more than you can handle then I suggest you find another job and stay out of the spot light. People are sick and tired of being taken advantage of and TKC is the place we are able to send our messages that we are sick and tired of it and do not have or want to deal with the Yael T. Abouhalkahs of the world who are to narrow minded to accept that how they think isn't how the majority of us do.
