It does not take a rocket scientist to see people on the street and get a clue about who is looking for trouble.
Having taken science courses to become a doctor, the author of this article should understand that he has reached a conclusion using data that, at most, justify a hypothesis. Data: proportionally more black drivers are stopped than white drivers. Hypothesis: the police are engaging in conscious or unconscious racism. Attempt to falsify the hypothesis: control for age and condition of vehicle, control for proportion of black vs. white drivers in higher crime areas (this assumes the police are present mostly in areas where crime is most likely to occur), control for time of day.
ReplyDeleteAnother wild card factor is whether, and to what extent, the police officer is able to determine race before the stop. A similar "scandal" in New Jersey was defused when an independent investigation found that at the locations and times most of the tickets were written, the officers were not able to tell the race of the driver before the traffic stop.
The good (or not so good, who knows) doctor should know better.
Current policing is 100% discriminatory to drivers that break the law. They also give all the tickets to the same group. How can this social justice crime against humanity be stopped? Freaking race baiting libtards that can't own up to tendencies that the behavior of groups reveal. Own what you are and then figure out to address it. Cops aren't the problem.
ReplyDeleteI live in a lily-white suburb (thank the Lord) and it's a fact of life here that colored drivers are going to get pulled over if they drive through. I'm very happy with the arrangement; my tax dollars at work and our neighborhood has the lowest amount of crime in the metro.
