TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR MOVES TOO SLOW!!!

Our blog community noted this fact of cowtown slow-poke Podunk life upon the grand opening of the toy train streetcar and now it's "news" for the paper despite ongoing effusive praise: A slightly faster Kansas City streetcar is a better streetcar

  1. Walking is faster! I live in River Market and had to go to T-mobile in P&L District. When I was done, there was not a trolley at the stop so I started walking. I did not see a trolley before I got back home.

  2. Take the bus.

  3. - Realtime signs not displaying an arrival time consistently
    - Realtime signs not accurate (saw one go from 16 minutes to 4 minutes right before my eyes but not before one lady had looked up and just started walking to her destination)
    - No consistent way to track where streetcars are (itsab.us is the most consistent but never seems to show every train on the route)
    - Smart traffic signals stopping streetcar for ghost traffic
    - Pedestrian signals not working consistently, leaving pedestrians confused why they didn't get a walk signal
    - Smart kiosks dark
    - When smart kiosks are on, they aren't providing anything of value at this point
    - Inside streetcar, stop requests not displaying visual/audio feedback

It's again important to emphasize that how ANYTHING that is owned by KCMO city government actually works or is maintained is not at all important, at least to the gang at 12th and Oak
What's important are the grandiose announcements, the balloon launches, the confetti cannons, the bands playing, the ribbons being cut, and the opportunities for the D-list amateur electeds to bask in their patest triumph payed for by you, the taxpayer.
    Next up?
Maybe putting some shovels in the ground for Mike's hotel.
Or smiles all around as the city gets ready to dump another $27 million into the rabbit hole at 18th and Vine.
But just take a look at the airport terminals, the streets, the water and sewer systems, and all the rest.
The streetcar has already served its purpose.

  5. 13 Minute or so one way --that is one mile and a tenth in 13 or so minutes. WOW that is a little over four miles an hour. It takes 15 minutes from 45th to City Hall by Max Bus.

  6. If they could slow it down and put in a couple of private booths we could get a blow job and the city could collect double earnings tax.

  7. White people need this streetcar. Please spend millions of dollars so they'll never have to rise a bus.

  10. The choo choo is slow because it has to disgorge and pick up six gazillion people at every stop. Every person in China is coming to see the eighth wonder of the world and ride the touristy frou frou.

  11. David Johnson's experiment has failed and KCMO taxpayers are stuck with expenses for years to come.

  12. I been talking it up with all the street people at the Broadway bridge. I told them the trolly is a moving outhouse. It is moving so no one can see what is going on so try it out.
