TKC SUNDAY MUST SEE!!! KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY JAMES LASHES OUT AT ARTIST EL BRYAN OVER TWITTER CRITICISM!!!

This weekend, while Kansas City is in the midst of a record-breaking homicide spike and community upheaval over a corporate development slate . . . Mayor Sly James is calling out his critics via social media.

To wit . . .

Accordingly . . .

WHO DO YOU THINK WON THIS KANSAS CITY TWITTER POLITICAL SLAPFIGHT?!?!

It was strange to see Mayor Sly James taking political criticism so personally. Did El Bryan's comments resonate?

The problem with social media beef is that there's very little resolution or room to find common ground.

Accordingly, we challenge our blog community to weigh in with something more thoughtful than 140-character-snark, insults or chatter . . .

Moreover, with this town facing a myriad of problems including a murder spike, outrage over taxpayer subsidy and an epidemic of violence hitting the Midtown Corridor . . . Maybe asking Twitter or the Internets for a solution is far too much to expect . . . Especially given that the crux of this online discussion seems to be the waning popularity of Mayor Sly James.

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. Bryan raises some excellent points but in terms of pure debate. The Mayor hit back hard. But that's his job.

  2. I just feel sorry for all Mayor Sly's consultants who are going to have to spend this Sunday working to defend him. Give credit to Bryan for showing that the emperor has know clothes and he knows it too.

  3. Trump Wins.

  4. I remember hearing politicos scream at Funkhouser before his term was over. Maybe Sly James is getting a little of the same and ELB got in the cross hairs.

  5. I don't know about winning, but kudos to Bryan for publicly stating what so many people think. Sly is an embarrassment to KC, and makes Funk look like Superman.

  6. All hail the kc mayor of twitter!

  7. This just proves, the Mayor IS a "twit"...

  8. Hows that "Change" and "Hope" working out in Kansas City?

  9. Love it. Good for El Bryan. Sure didn't take much to bring out the petty, silly child in our grifter excuse for a mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Don't know much about Bryan other than he lives in the Northeast and also lies to himself about the immense problem black people truly are. That said, why is it his job to fix anything? I thought that was the mayor's? By not moving out of the Northeast and being one of the decent people there is an accomplishment itself. The mayor needs to address the massive problem that his black brethren are and not by some damn midnight basketball either (which always has a shooting). It's way beyond time he gets together with the prosecutor and do what Giuliani did in NYC. I'm no fan of Giuliani but credit where it's due because he cleaned up NYC. It's beyond time to come down with extreme force on his people. You would be surprised how much that would fix the behavior in the schools too. But I know he won't. He's just another black grifter.

  11. Stop and frisk and house by house searches for illegal guns and drugs city wide now!

    ReplyDelete
  12. The Mayor as one could see was more than happy to point a finger and blame someone else for not solving the issues.

So in my book Byran wins and James comes off still looking like the ass he is!

    ReplyDelete
  13. El Byran loses because he personalized a difference of opinion and policy with the "disgusted with you" comment.

I realize that Trump is using personal insults to lambast opponents, but the insults should be directed at policies, actions (Or, lack of action) and legislation that has failed. The insults are built in when you personify those same policies and actions, marrying them to their owner.

The mayor's butt hurt defense sounds petty, rehearsed, contrived and actually support El Byran's criticism. The Mayor IS vulnerable on the murder rate and crime, because Democrats are and should be, associated with support for criminality. Democrats make excuses for criminals. They need votes and obfuscating that same criminality assures the solid 14% of the Black Vote, will always go Democrat. The Mayor IS vulnerable on the Street Car and other city initiatives. But, the Mayor is in power and should follow Disraili's dictum, "Never apologize, never explain. When he punches down, he can only achieve a Pyrrhic victory.

Trump broke up the Republican and Democrat play house with unprecedented vitriol and anger. It was genius, or, maybe luck. That notwithstanding, he would do well to refine his attacks to actions and provable failures of Clinton and reduce dramatically the 4th grade level of ad hominem attacks.

(The Toy Train, Single Terminal, Jazz District Money Pit, or Mayor Slies "Keep Your Kids Outta the Plaza" Hoops events) Big money spent without general voter approval.

Look, Mayor Sly James is a better mayor than I could ever dream of being, but he has failed the east side and the urban youth of this city by prioritizing the needs of greedy white 20 somethings. His response to me indicates that he is both conscious and sensitive to that fact.

  41. At least the Mayor responds to White people. I had great solutions but was totally ignored. It is rhetoric when Sly suggests that running for public office gives meaningful solutions. The term lame duck, which the Mayor is, comes to mind. The fact is the Mayor has and continues to ignore the eastside. It's not about throwing people out and blighting the area, its about demonstrating real ideas that dont begin and end with a bulldozer. Mayor assumed people elected him because he had solid ideas and we all know that his ideas had very little to do with his being elected. Neither time did I vote for him. I always voted for the other guy. So, here's at least one voter that never believed in him, his ideas or leadership.

RE: Sylvester James on "gun violence"
Sylvester James, the narcissistic sociopath who would rather seek the attention of strangers than spend time with his own family, is hoping to curry favor with the likes of Obama and Clinton. He's doing this because he's been planning for quite some time to replace Congressman Carwash in Washington, D.C. He doesn't want to be here in KCMO when his chickens come home to roost and residents find a "fowl" situation with their municipal finances. Sylvester James is the wrong "caliber" of leader for Kansas City.

    This is just one example!!
Kansas City Live LLC is The Cordish Company of Baltimore, Maryland, developer of the Power and Light Entertainment District in downtown KCMO, which is being subsidized by KCMO taxpayers to the tune of nearly $15 million dollars in fiscal year 2014.
Cordish expects to invest more than $88 million in Two Light. But to make the project a reality, the city is providing Cordish about $17 million, including a cash subsidy of up to $5 million for the apartment units to defray construction costs, plus a cash subsidy of between $10.6 million and $12.3 million for a residential parking garage.
City officials said the parking garage subsidy was provided for in a 2004 master plan agreement with Cordish, and the $5 million construction subsidy is needed because high-rise construction is nearly twice as expensive as low-rise. But the overall city subsidy for Two Light will be less than the city contribution of more than $20 million for One Light.
The deal also involves an effective property tax abatement of about 50 percent over 25 years.

$80 million in tax incentives for the expansion of Burns & McDonnell’s world headquarters complex at the northwest corner of Wornall and Bannister roads.
Chapter 100 bond financing for the project that will allow the developers to receive a 25-year property tax abatement. At a rate of 100 percent abatement for 15 years, followed by 50 percent for 10 years, it will abate a total of $41.8 million in property tax revenue during the 25-year term.
The Chapter 100 financing will allow the developers to also receive a sales tax exemption on building materials worth about $3 million.
A portion of new headquarters employee earnings will also be exempted from the KCMO earnings tax.

"It can happen right before your eyes and, at first, you might not even notice. It can take years of planning for the pieces to fall perfectly in place."----Burns and McDonnell website introduction
    http://www.burnsmcd.com/

Sylvester James, Jr., was elected Mayor of Kansas City Missouri (KCMO) in March 2011, with only 21 percent of the City's registered voters casting ballots. James was re-elected in 2015, with significantly fewer voters participating, against a largely unknown, unfunded candidate. When no serious challengers emerged for the primary election, it was a foregone conclusion that Mayor James would win re-election, and therefore not require campaign funding.

Despite Burns and McDonnell CEO Greg Graves advance comments that the company would remain in KCMO, Mayor James and then-Council members insisted on lavishing extravagant subsidies toward this wealthy employee-owned company.

Please visit the following website http://mec.mo.gov/MEC/Campaign_Finance/CF11_CommInfo.aspx
M.E.C. ID NO. C091019: Sly James For Mayor
Go to this report: 42039 AMENDED January Quarterly Report 02/06/2014
Please contrast KCMO Mayor James' recent comments concerning "outside influences" attempting to interfere with the upcoming earnings tax renewal vote, to this listing of Burns and McDonnell donations from a single quarterly report.

In this quarterly report, we're specifically focusing upon contributions from those connected to Burns and McDonnell only. When scrolling through this lengthy list of names, please pay particular attention to the contributor's city of residence, and the date of their campaign contribution to Sly James For Mayor. A couple of employees listed the Burns and McDonnell corporate address, but otherwise we will highlight in red all of the other KCMO residents (don't blink or you'll miss them!).

If these 267 Burns and McDonnell employees are representative of the company workforce, in regards to residence, we can say that 12 percent of Burns and McDonnell employees actually reside within KCMO. The lesson from this exercise, is that non-KCMO residents seem to be exerting considerable political influence over KCMO policy makers by exchanging campaign cash for a diversion of their tax responsibility. Those entrusted to fairly represent taxpayers, are instead, violating this trust and picking winners and losers.

Meanwhile, Northeast's biggest accomplishment is continuing the failed policies of the last 50 years (more cops! tear down more buildings!). Meanwhile, downtown is growing, the residents there actually vote, and in another 10 years there won't be enough residents in the East side and Northeast to comprise more than a single council district. But thank God we didn't get a "toy train" here, we wouldn't want Independence avenue to look like Main Street downtown, with new apartment buildings and scary, scary "density". We want our vacant lots and dwindling tax base, plus increased demands for services and infrastructure maintenance.
