TKC QUESTION: SHOULD DAVID JOHNSON TALK TRASH IN SUPPORT OF THE TOY TRAIN KANSAS CITY STREETCAR?!?!

Personally, we like Mr. Johnson because he gave us a freebie t-shirt in the last XL size at one point . . . But he's clearly losing his patience with the critics of Kansas City's toy train amid some important questions raised about property values and promises to taxpayers.

Mr. Johnson's latest quote:

David Johnson, vice chairman for the transit alliance, said "everything (the Show-Me Institute) comes up with is suspect."

"They have had every intention to make it look like the streetcar sucks from day one," he said, "because they don't like taxes, and they don't like mass transit."

To wit . . .

THE SAME CAN BE SAID OF DAVID JOHNSON'S ADVOCACY WHICH IS TANTAMOUNT TO TOY TRAIN CHEERLEADING . . . BUT IN A PROJECT THAT COSTS KANSAS CITY HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS DON'T ALL SIDES OF THE DEBATE DESERVE THEIR VOICES TO BE HEARD?!!?

The Biz Journal attempts to sort out the story without comments that some might deem unprofessional. You decide: Missouri News on Twitter

    WILL THE SIMILARITIES NEVER END?

I guess not as long as the Institute's checks keep cashing, eh, my little Mexican chum?

  12. Doesn't matter what mr Johnson says- see you guys at the streetcar extension groundbreaking

    ReplyDelete
  13. The only streetcar extension groundbreaking at this point is you people standing in a whole six feet deep furiously shoveling away thinking your at a groundbreaking ceremony 5:48.

    LOL

    ReplyDelete
  14. LOL, even the Shill Me Rexfax show property values increased along the streetcar line.

    Check and mate.

  15. Everyone except Staubios. The list is immense.

  16. It's going to be fun watching the toy train crowd trying to tweet, dance, hype, and selfie their way out of this one that's obvious.

  17. They've been lowering property values and property taxes downtown while raising them on everyone else outside of the TDD. And don't forget subsidies.

    FACT

  18. SHOW-ME INSTITUTE = 1 MILLION POINTS

    TOYTRAIN CHEERLEADERS = SQUAT

Please knock yourself out with all the redundant transportation models that you wish. But, do it with private funds!

If your plan is really worthwhile, private investors would be fighting for a piece of the action, because it would provide a return on investment.

A taxpayer-funded ToyTrain that can't turn a corner, go around a stalled car, is the nation's most expensive per-mile rail transit model, is free to ride, only serves tourists and those living within 1-3 blocks of the line which happen to be traveling somewhere else on the line....is a BOONDOGGLE!

    ReplyDelete
  19. "because they don't like taxes, and they don't like mass transit."

Since when has the Show-Me Institute opposed buses? It seems trolley boy is the one who doesn't like mass transit. At least transit that does not travel on fixed rails.

  20. LOL 8:28 Must be Daves mini me

  23. David Johnson is a liar and a jerk. We all hope and pray he will be leaving this area soon.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So...according to Show Me's own "facts" downtown property values were falling until the streetcar was announced and are now up 2.5%? Which means, it's working BOTH as an economic development tool and as a wildly popular means of downtown transportation.

Uh-oh. Somebody just Show-me'd their ass!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Even assuming this is correct (and that's a giant leap), 2.5% in several years is not a big deal. Brookside and Waldo property values have gone up 25% in the same period of time, and JOCO values have gone up even more.

How can we know when trolley boy is lying? Whenever he says anything.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Can we fix the GD water mains/sewers first! Priorities are so f'ed up in this city.

    ReplyDelete
  27. We can do both.

What we can't do is pay to maintain infrastructure built for 400,000 people in an area that only holds about 250,000 now, especially while we are still building new infrastructure in the Northland for people who don't live there yet.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So people would be shocked to learn that a KCSA board members property downtown has gone down in value from a million in 2012 to half that in 2016?

Just the tip of the iceberg kiddies.

It's astounding, mind blowing there has been no indictments.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The only people "astounded" that there have been no indictments for fictional crimes are the people stupid enough to believe the bullshit they read on this blog, Sue Burke's Twitter feed or CFRG's Facebook page.

    ReplyDelete
  30. " people stupid enough to believe the bullshit they read on this blog"

Given that at least half the comments on this article are trolley boy's, would he be including himself in "people stupid enough?"

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ah the racketeering of it. No where to run no where to hide!

Hee heeeeeeeeee Toot Toot! Ding Ding!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Trolley Boy Johnsons up to his nose in lies and bullshit.

And I don't see anyone tossing him a rope or life preserver!

    LMAO!

  33. Tony's obsession w/ the streetcar is like Omar Mateen's obsession w/ gays

    ReplyDelete
  34. ^^^ Are you saying TKC is gay for the streetcar? Do you have photos. Keep them to yourself, nobody wants to see that. Lulz.

Luckily, I think Tk is pretty harmless and he doesn't have money to buy a gun.

However, I don't know why the streetcar supporters are so vindictive and defensive against criticism. It makes them look bad.

  35. The Wall Street Journal for June 20th carried two stories of interest to TRANSIT people. The driverless car will be available as a call on your phone transit vehicle, which will arrive at your door and take you where ever you want. The investment in electric cars is jumping expotentialy. The combination of the two is a 21st century answer to transit and not the dinosaur Toot Tooot proposed by the dwebs in midtown. Dial your location and where you want to go and a "car" pulls up and takes you where you wish to go, electrically. Don't have to walk four blocks from the FIXED RAIL and it is cheaper overall cost and maintainence.

  36. Tony's Fact Free Zone, where next year we'll be living in the Jetsons-world, and the year after that we'll be teleporting, and where streets cost less to build and maintain than streetcar tracks. Pre-school level intellects + the Internet = this blog. Jesus, do also believe no one can see you hiding when you close your eyes, or that when mommy goes away she's never coming back?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Jeez, trolley boy, don't you have anything better to do than post here all day? Life much? We already know your opinion. Being redundant is not going to change anyone's mind.

  38. 6:56am on 6/21/16 ^^^ - Riiiiight. KC is wise to build up that Northland to keep and attract as many people as possible to maintain residency in Missouri. Good schools, safe neighborhoods, decent shopping and attractive amenities draw singles, couples, families with kiddos, and seniors for quality living. Homeowners desire sensible equities investments, which is mostly reliant on good property values. The college, retirement and bigger emergency funds are often tied to equity loans and home sales. SoJoCo, far west Dotte, and select similarly flung burbs are drawing more than a few away from KC. Bad crime rates, blight, busted sewers, and below standard schools is turning away plenty.
