TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR ABANDONED TUESDAY NIGHT!!!

Slice of life and EYEWITNESS REPORT as seen tonight according to an astute TKC Reader:

"It appears to me that they have cut back on frequency of service and it looks like it is really paying off in terms of ridership numbers. This is the streetcar early Tuesday evening."

And, once again, it seems the toy train streetcar only really works on weekends.

  1. Do not make the streetcar consultants work late. They have very important lives and they need a break. They can't spend all day and night defending this damn train. Can they?

  3. Streetcar is only for weekends.

  4. We are seeing these photos for afternoons and evenings. How does David Johnson come up with those ridership numbers?

  5. Maybe it's time to send Schulte and McIntyre on another romantic tax payer vacation to Spain to figure this out.

  6. DO NOT be a hater of the streetcar!

Why do you want KC to fail. It would be better to show people how they can benefit from the streetcar and incorporate into their work schedule. It's a shame that some of you are so desperate that you won't want Kansas City to succeed. Shame on you!

  7. Wait a minute, something's not right. Didn't Jenee's totally impartial, not at all sold-out journalism tell us that the choo choo was the cutest and best thing ever???

    ReplyDelete
  8. The evidence shows the streetcar was a costly experiment that failed. Either shut it down or make the tourist that use it, pay for it.

  9. In this City you have to have a petition to have our government respond to the will of the people. Not sure what you call this form of government, maybe be a modified form of absolute monarchy. Let’s get the petition going – no more free ride!

  10. oh shit, time to shut down the city because TKC TOLD YOU SO!!!!

    1. It's ok, David. You had to know the truth would catch up with the hype sometime. Calm down Lil urban futurist. ;)

    2. Yeah, like how the truth caught up with Tony when he got successfully sued for libel. Check it: http://willnotbetelevised.com/tag/tkc-forced-to-settle-in-court/

    3. Well, it's a non sequitur, and one you endlessly repeat as if it's new. The key difference is that Tony has been accountable. For you that's still coming. And it's delicious to watch. ;)

  11. Maybe a homeless guy pooped in it.

  12. Crosby Kemper said it back in 2012

"This streetcar will be used by tourists, shoppers and lawyers who can afford to bill a two-hour lunch. I call it the take-a-lawyer-to-lunch trolley."

  13. The price is $7.50. Good all day. Come on ride the train. Jump in.

    1. Hmm. Weak. The jihad thing doesn't seem to work that well, and it's poor technique to try to tell two jokes at once.

  15. Wow looks like record ridership there.

Jesus, you may as well throw in Emmet Till.

Talk about "Going to the well".

  17. That's what it will look like constantly once the novelty wears off and people have to start paying.

  19. Wow, that's one hard hitting exclusive. UNFORTUNATELY YOU CAN TELL IT'S UP BY CITY MARKET AT THE END OF THE LINE. SO OF COURSE THERE'S NO ONE ON IT.

    Nice try, nigger.

N-word guy loves the streetcar. Why? Because it steals money from black people riding the bus.

  21. WOW - SUPER WOW !!!!!
You can go Shopping and fit the entire WAL MART Store in one of those empty Toy Trains with NO RIDERS - WOW !!!!!

  22. "Why do you want KC to fail. It would be better to show people how they can benefit from the streetcar and incorporate into their work schedule. It's a shame that some of you are so desperate that you won't want Kansas City to succeed. Shame on you!"

Well, if wanting the choo choo to succeed isn't reason enough to ignore facts, I don't know what is!

  23. 6:32am is exactly right to cite the clueless quote above.
The streetcar project was undertaken, NOT TO FILL SOME NEED, but simply because the idea was peddled around the country by the urban futurists who make their money selling books and lectures and have to constantly come up with new "must have" fads to keep their gravy trains running.
The notion of investing this kind of money and then hoping to convince people to change their lives to use it is insanity than no private business would ever try, and certainly not more than once.
    Remember "New Coke"?
    It also involved tin cans.

  24. The trolley is nothing more than the carriages on the Plaza are ... An amusement for both locals and visitors. Anyone who ever thought the KC trolley was going to be on par with public transportation like Chicago's El are crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Until people start using what we got, any thought of expansion is just bizarre.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Looks like David Johnson, Doug Stone, and their crew of shit for ethics miscreants plan to attempt a repeat of the 2012 mail in election for the extension. As to avoid the crushing defeat they know would happen if an actual democratic vote was put on the ballot.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lol at the Tiny Kvetching Cunts and their circle jerk of influence.

Daily ridership still TWICE what was projected...

And expansion is polling in the low 70s in the TDD.

Enjoy that big plate of cold old crow. Keep chewing thru your tears, kiddies. It's good for you.

    1. Your capacity for delusion is fascinating. Need new material tho. We're already familiar with your silly propaganda, questionable data, and rigged elections. ;)

  28. We need to spend billions of dollars to expand the streetcar for white people who consider themselves too good to ride a bus. That's the simple reality. We have buses serving the same route as the streetcar and much more. I bet most of the streetcar advocates have never ridden a bus and never will.

    ReplyDelete
  29. It should be clear to all by now that free rides are not good enough. To get folks to use it, they need to offer a cash reward. Maybe start by paying $5 for each ride and go up from there if necessary.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sure are lots of black and brown people on board for something that's just "for white people who consider themselves too good to ride the bus".

You guys are losing this one more and more everyday. People like it and they use it. If you don't want to, it's doing just fine without you. If you don't want to fund it, don't shop, own property (hahaha, as though any of you own property) or live downtown.

And quit fucking crying. If most people in KC knew about this exercise in futility, they'd feel bad for you, if they didn't vomit in disgust first.

    1. What grows day by day is the city's preoccupation with eco devo at the expense of basic services and even safety. Your temper is showing. That's probably because you fundamentally are incapable of engaging with any viewpoint that is not in lockstep with your own. Take your own advice and stop crying if you're um...winning so much. Time and photography are not on your side, kiddo. :)

  31. WE need to give sleeping privileges to homeless guys on the Toot Toot. If every seat was filled all night long the ridership would go though the roof.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Crosby Kemper? Seriously? Dude was born with a platinum spoon in his mouth, later got run off from the family business. Think about that. How fucking hard is it to get run off from a family-controlled business? I wouldn't let him watch my dog for chrissakes.
