TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! INSIDERS FEAR POTENTIAL COUNCIL LADY KATHERYN SHIELDS MAYORAL RUN COULD HURT CITY HALL GIRL POWER!!!

Like it or not, the list of potential candidates for the next Kansas City Mayoral election is steadily increasing with every passing week.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS FEAR THAT 4TH DISTRICT AT-LARGE COUNCIL LADY KATHERYN SHIELDS MIGHT RUN FOR MAYOR AGAIN!!!

Her previous attempt was a pricey but unsuccessful affair and Katheryn Shields has seemed to always covet Kansas City's highest office. However, this time around some timely campaign donations from top power brokers have raised eyebrows among insiders.

One perspective . . .

"Of course she's doing to run for Mayor. She's working against the clock now and it seems to be the conventional wisdom among all of the consultants and even Sly's people that the next Mayor of KC needs to be a white woman needs to be the next establishment candidate in order to balance public perception and appeal to the biz community. This takes us back to the glory days of Mayor Kay Barnes who is still the development queen of Kansas City."

To be fair, Council Lady Shields hasn't made any formal announcement yet and while her campaign funding list is steadily increasing, this council member seems extremely committed to historic preservation more than any other public official and seems to be delving into the deets of council work.

Still, what's important here is that the race for Kansas City's next mayor is STARTING NOW behind the scenes. Council Dude Scott Taylor is the first to openly declare his plan to run, we expect Council Dude Wagner will do the same shortly and now a litany of ladies including Former Council Lady Cindy Circo, Council Lady Jolie Justus and now Council Lady Katy crowd the field. The reality here is that all this ambitious chatter and jockeying for the next big job will undoubtedly impact City Hall and any hint of unanimity among elected officials in the foreseeable future.

  1. This is an interesting decision for shields.

She can't afford to sit this next race out. KC is a very generous city but not so much to have a 70 year old woman at the top of city hall.

    So it's now or never.

I notice that Katheryn is being kind of quiet since she earned her committee spot and that should make all of these other women very nervous.

Not sure if "girl power" is really a thing but if it is, all bets are off until one of these women becomes the front runner. But Shields for mayor should hurt the case that some people are making for Jolie.

  2. This is why I'm voting for Scott Taylor. With him you get his experience and Cathy Jolly's charm. A better trade off than just one politician.

  5. And the 85% of metro residents who had the good sense to decide to NOT live in KCMO watch the endless carnival and congratulate themselves over and over again.
The next mayor of KC is going to have to be an expert in manipulating public debt.
But feel free to give Sly a call in DC. Maybe he can find a few million to try to fill in the holes.
    Frosty.

TKC, you failed to mention that she already beat the feds once. With that kind of hubris, I'm sure she thinks she's untouchable.

  13. Electing Scott would be the same as electing Cathy, she will run the show. You all thought it was nuts and crazy with the Funks in City Hall just put the Scott and Cathy team in there and see true chaos.

  14. City Hall makes Caligula's reign look like Disneyland on meth right about now. What a Bacchaus is going in that place.

  15. Maybe the "85%" should pay attention to what's going on in their own back yards...corporate welfare, locust-like canna liking development, rapidly ghettoifying inner burbs, an entire state in economic free fall, elected leaders who fall for multimillion dollar email scams, the list goes on.

Meanwhile downtown KC is hoppin on a hundred degree Saturday, crawling with suburbanites enjoying a day in the city...

Yeah, she's out there campaigning and raising money but just because shes a woman doesn't mean people will like her. It's about time that all of our female politiians start talking about something more than their gender.
