TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! CROSSROADS PETITIONERS PREPARE TO STOP KANSAS CITY LIQUOR CODE CHANGE!!!

Quick update this morning on the progress of a petition drive that hopes to stop a proposed liquor code change that could threaten neighborhoods throughout Kansas City and turn the Crossroads into yet another cowtown bar district.

To wit . . .

SOURCES CLOSE TO THE CROSSROADS NEIGHBORHOOD PETITION DRIVE REVEAL THAT THEY'VE NOW COLLECTED THE REMAINING SIGNATURES AND PLAN TO PUT A STOP TO A CONTROVERSIAL ORDINANCE CHAMPIONED BY COUNCIL LADY JOLIE JUSTUS!!!

Remember that our blog community was FIRST to report this petition effort in response to a controversial ordinance that would weaken Kansas City liquor codes.

Denizens of the tech community and to so-called creative class were quick to trash talk about "Insiders" and power brokers but the reality is that most Crossroads residents don't want the area turning into an entertainment district.

In a rare bit of public disagreement, Council Dude Scott Taylor took aim at this legislation and called out Council Lady Jolie Justus by name in a letter to his constituents.

After all this, MSM finally picked up the drama and attempted to broker what is clearly a Kansas City neighborhood dispute against a new generation of bar owners who didn't think much about how this legislation would apply to other parts of Kansas City beyond the downtown development scene.

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. Obviously the council woman has her own idea of kc's future. A bar on every street!

Not bad but I don't think people playing $500 thousand for condos want to live next to a rowdy club.

  3. But don't Toot Toot Johnson and Nebraskee Staubio want 10 bars on every block so the choo choo is full of people on weekend nights?

  4. Score one to the big $$ property owners over the people who actually live in our city.

  6. What exactly is this ordinance? Can we get details on what this will involve?

    ReplyDelete
  7. No, it pretty much only affects the Crossroads. Outside of the downtown area density restrictions prevent new bar districts from popping up, and outside the Crossroads there aren't many places where a single nonresident landowner owns vast swaths of empty surface lots and uses that to force new small businesses to bow to his will.

  8. Incorrect, the ordinance applies to the entire city.

  9. Jolie is a great advocate for bars! The rest of the district, not so much.

  10. Why should Tom's Town have to follow the same rules as every other bar in Kansas City? They serve gin!

  11. Where is the outrage over the number of times Verlander struck a Royal last night? A cy young award winner! He did that on purpose if Ventura plunked someone on purpose!

  12. PSA sorry all that crap is happening!

  13. Note to Ventura: keep pitching inside like verlander but don't react with mean looks or words.

  18. Tony 136 seems to have leveled a threat. Threats are not covered by the First Amendment. I think you have a responsibilty to report that comment to the Police or share any criminal or civil liability that follows from their actions.

  22. So, all of this talk of perversion makes me think that we're okay with how Jolie is doing business. What a waste. Kansas City used to be a great place.

  23. More bars in the crossroads? Bring it on!

  24. We need the bars for a toy train extension. Dave Johnson said they've been popular since the beginning of time on a KC Star video.

  25. Cart has been jacking off in the throws of fantasy dreams about city workers for 29 years. Social Media only makes his fixations easier. NO POLITICAL JURISDICTION SHOULD MAKE AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NATIONAL WORLD WAR I MUSEUM WHILE CART REMAINS ON THE PAYROLL. I hate it when he greets us bu grabbing arms or other parts of our persons and talks in baby talk.

  26. Jolie needs to be held accountable and her consultants need to stop trying to hijack this thread. She was wrong to try to give bars free reign in Kansas City.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I like Jolie, I think she's doing the right thing with this legislation. We need to give businesses more freedom to grow in Kansas City.
