For the moment, the consultant class and so many urban planning dweebs are forced underground and have taken to starting pathetic Twitter memes in order to advocate for a new airport that nobody wants and City Hall has been forced to abandoned. ReplyDeleteOn a separate note, word is that the Mayor appointed a group business men from Johnson County to an airport advisory committee. Any truth to that?
Hopefully Johnson county will step up and just build a nice, new, modern airport like every other fucking city in the country has. Johnson county never has a public vote on anything, from TDDs to its huge tax incentives, to apartment complexes being built on vacant land.
ReplyDeleteKC's anti-progress freak out is laughable. The hillbillys who live hear seam to think that when they do something different than everywhere else it's because they are way smarter than the rest of the country. Yet, somehow, KC keeps falling behind economically, culturally and in terms of its importance and prominence. KC used to be an nice medium-size city, but the old codgers who live here want it to be a dinky little dying town, and they are getting their way.
Nah. Your error is thinking that purchase equals wealth. If we go through the monumental expenditure and trouble of X development scheme, that assets and resources and growth will follow. This hasn't been proven with other such schemes.
DeleteBeen to many airports around the world. KCI is hands down the easiest to get in and out of anywhere. Cities should be coming here to see how it is done. Restore it, no new one needed IMO.
