TKC MUST READ!!! KANSAS CITY COLUMNIST STEVE KRASKE SMACKED DOWN OVER CONTROVERSIAL TOY TRAIN STREETCAR EXPANSION BY NORTHEAST NEWS!!!

Just like the glory days of newspapers, on this throwback Thursday we want to direct attention to a SCATHING NEWSPAPER EDITORIAL calling out a fellow columnist from a competing publication.

To wit . . .

CHECK THE NORTHEAST NEWS RIPPING STEVE KRASKE FOR HIS UNQUALIFIED TOY TRAIN STREETCAR CHEERLEADING FOR AN EXPANSION BEFORE SO MANY EMBARRASSING BREAKDOWNS!!!

Here's the money line that targets the part time newsie . . .

"Toy Train Streetcar proponents said despite the resounding no vote on streetcar expansion, it was just a minor setback. Kansas City will have light rail and you’ll enjoy it by golly; public debt, basic infrastructure needs, and bond rating be damned!

"Thanks to The Star’s Steve Kraske for leaking the news last Thursday, we’re much obliged. This should give those light rail zealots time to really put things together for an even bigger rigged vote to take more money from your pocket for a mode of transportation that vanished from city streets in 1957 while basic, boring infrastructure needs go deferred for yet another year."

Double bonus points to this community news organization for continuing to refer to this effort as a "toy train streetcar," a phrase coined by a top echelon denizen of our blog community.

Now . . .

READ THE ENTIRE EPIC TAKE DOWN OF KANSAS CITY STAR COLUMNIST STEVE KRASKE FROM NORTHEAST NEWS!!!

And while newspapers might be enduring harsh times, this EPIC screed reminds us that competition among publications was probably the most important part of the newsprint legacy.

  1. debate is good for Kansas City but it's not what most of the gang down at city hall want.

  2. Lot of White-boy smack downs recently. Keep it comin. They've had it coming for a long time.

  3. Kraske is a simpleton, leave him alone. It ain't right to tease the simple minded.

  4. A battle of wits between two unarmed men.
The very best in small-town piddly argument by people desperate for attention.
Maybe all these "opinion leaders" should run for office or get appointed to something where they have some actual responsibilities.
And watching the Star gang desperately hanging on becomes more pitiful every day.

  5. Kraske doesn't even live in Jackson County!

    LMAO!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Kraske lives in fucking Kansas already. Game over.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Until Kraske moves to within 2 blocks of toy train, his opinion is worthless!! What a fraud!

    ReplyDelete
  8. The real problem is Kraske, Helling and Rose all live in Kansas. Why aren't they advocating Overland Park or Leawood have a streetcar.

  9. Isn't being "smacked down" by the Northeast News kinda like being bitten by an ant?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Is northeast populated by conservative right wing nuts?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Don't know. Conservative hipsters or something.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Who the hell is the Northeast News? Surely they can't compete with the media empire that is Tony Botello's blog???

    ReplyDelete
  13. ^^^^^^But you read Tony's blog and have never heard of the Northeast News.

  15. the star should improve its economics by outsourcing editorials and downsizing them from being half of the printed content.

as support for outsourcing, more people read the letters to the editor than the n+1 daily editorials on what's the matter with kansas; meaning, content can be free.

employ an intern majoring in journalism to edit reader-generated content from (1) high school newspaper journalists writing pro-and-con op-eds; (2) more letters to the editor; (3) more contributor op-eds.

that way, the entire editorial board could be downsized and not affect readership very much.

what a boost to profitability! imho, it might increase readership, too, to have students writing editorials. editorial quality and variety could improve, too.

    ReplyDelete
  16. There's not much room to "downsize" the Star editorial board when it consists of just two people.
Although, given the crap those two put out, eliminating it entirely might have some merit.

  17. Hahaha! Poor Bushnell, as unhinged as ever with his fake "libertarian" screeds, and kindergarteners level of city finances. None of you and your handlers fear tactics work in midtown, Mike. You guys tried, and failed to swing a single vote. And since we are the ones who pay for the streetcar (and also the ones who pay for all the infrastructure in Northeast, where the tax base is next to zero, but the service demands for PD, FD, Pubic Works and Parks $$ are high), we'll be the ones deciding on the infrastructure we build in OUR NEIGHBORHOODS.

If you don't want streetcars in Northeast, fine. Northeast can continue on the path its on, but there's a reason that despite 100s of millions in city investment in Northeast, there are no development proposals there, while downtown gets proposals daily. Midtown would like to try something different than the failed strategies this city has embraced for the last 60 years, because if the choice is being more like downtown, which is growing, or Northeast, which is dying, midtown has made up its mind, and we showed it on the last vote, and the one before that, and the one before that, and the on before that, etc. etc.

  18. Kraken got SMACKED DOWN! in a paper with a readership of about 100?

I mean, it's got a little bigger readership than this blog, with its 8 regular trolls, but even in Northeast Bushnell is known as a reactionary tea-party loony.

As Scarrit Renaissance Neighborhood Associtation about why Bushnell is no longer the president...

  19. Great editorial, glad Bushnell is holding their feet to the fire at the star. It's about time we had some debate in Kansas City.
