TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! SCOTT TAYLOR CALLS OUT JOLIE JUSTUS IN CITY COUNCIL LIQUOR ORDINANCE SLAP FIGHT AND MAYORAL CONTEST PREVIEW!!!

As the popularity of Kansas City Mayor Sly James PLUMMETS the city council now turns against one another amid controversial legislation that's confronting a petition from residents.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY 6th DISTRICT AT-LARGE COUNCIL DUDE SCOTT TAYLOR CALLS OUT 4TH DISTRICT AT-LARGE COUNCIL LADY JOLIE JUSTICE IN A NEIGHBORHOOD E-MAIL BLOWING UP AMONG THE CIVIC SET!!!

Remember that he's the first guy to form a committee for a Mayoral run and he's going after Council Lady Jolie before she can even get started with a rumored leap frog move to take the Mayor's office . . .

Council Dude Taylor Seyz: "The City Council last week rushed through a change (Ordinance 160281, sponsored by Councilwoman Justus) in our liquor law ordinances that would weaken the neighborhood consent process of surrounding property owners around liquor establishments . . ."

We've talked about this ordinance and the petition push back coming from residents . . .

WHAT'S INTERESTING HERE IS A ROOKIE MISTAKE BY COUNCIL LADY JUSTUS WHO SHOULD HAVE SIMPLY HELD THE ISSUE FOR A WEEK INSTEAD FOR RAMMING THROUGH AN ORDINANCE THAT NOBODY REALLY LIKED!!!

This isn't Jeff City where her advocacy can be politely and conveniently ignored . . . Among Kansas City council members with competing agendas, she has earned a direct challenge that can't be dismissed as part of the culture war.

LIKE IT OR NOT THIS IS A SERIOUS SMACK DOWN OF COUNCIL LADY JOLIE JUSTUS AND HER LEGISLATIVE SKILL!!!

After a FAIL on the new airport, it seems that Council Lady Justus is now having problems dealing with neighborhood opponents of bar biz.

TKC FIRST TO POST THIS NOTE FAR AND WIDE . . . Here's the word that just hit Kansas City e-mail moments ago . . .

FYI-Neighborhood consents weakened by Ordinance 160281

Dear Neighborhood Advocate,

The City Council last week rushed through a change (Ordinance 160281, sponsored by Councilwoman Justus) in our liquor law ordinances that would weaken the neighborhood consent process of surrounding property owners around liquor establishments. While this was likely done to help one business, I explained to the rest of the Council that we have the consent process in place to protect neighborhoods and that any change should never be introduced in committee on Wednesday, expedited, and passed by the full City Council within 24 hours, as most neighborhood leaders probably did not know about this proposed change. Councilwoman Loar and I asked for a courtesy one week hold but the rest of the City Council voted to expedite and pass this change. We just received word from the City Clerk’s office that a petition to overturn this ordinance has been filed by almost 200 citizens to stop this ordinance from going into effect. The next step will be for a petition to be passed around for signature to put this request to repeal the ordinance to a vote of the people. I am bringing this to your attention as I thought you should be aware. Attached is a list of City Council emails and phone numbers if you would like to voice your opinion on this Ordinance 160281 to the City Council.

Thanks,

Scott Taylor, 6th District At-Large

  1. Jolie is having to get her hands dirty here.

What's a shame is that a lot of the fights she has been involved in are at the behest of Mayor James.

I know lawyers stick together but she would do will to stick to her own constituents and try to keep them happy.

I'll vote for Scott if he can promise to fix the damn pond on Brookside boulevard. Beach front property is not a benefit in the Midwest.

  3. Mayor is letting KC and his own building go to hell.

  4. Um Lucas is also the partner with Justus on this.

    This is a Lucas-Justus farce.

  5. Disappointed that Taylor would carry the big money water on this one, protecting one large business owner from competition by throwing up road blocks for small neighborhood businesses. Loar is no surprise, she's for rent to the highest bidder and has been since her 90s disgrace days.

  6. Scott Taylor is just pretending to be for neighborhoods. Scott is always first in line taking care of his corporate cronies. Scott is just pissed that this was not in his committee so he could extract campaign contributions. This way he can try to actually get votes instead of money.

  7. Right now, I'd tell everyone I know not to vote for either one of them and will!

  8. Taylor is a man/boy who has no business running with the big dogs. Also, Jolly better recognize that Justus has WAY more friends and talent in her left knee then she EVER dreamed of having. Justus v. Taylor/Jolly is like adult v. child. Justus is schooling them and they don't even know.

  9. A outsider will be the next Mayor. It is how the political landscape is forming. All the names thrown around last time who didn't
t want to go against a well funded (by Lawyers) incumbent will be lining up. Dan Cofran, Crosby Kemper, Jason Kander after he loses to Blunt maybe Mike Burke again. The list is just starting to form. No prior or current council member or Jeff City transplant will be Mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hell NO Jason Kander or any recycled democrat from Jeff City.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wouldn't it be refreshing if someone ran for office in order to actually DO something instead of the same old self-absorbed crap?
    Tweedledumb and Tweedledumber!

    ReplyDelete
  12. What business is being protected by the ordinance? I want to know so I can not go there.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The next mayor will be an outsider. Cleaver was the last real insider who was elected and that was by a fluke.

    ReplyDelete
  14. No doubt that Justus has a bigger dick than Taylor.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Taylor is getting paid off by one developer to make this stance against a small business, many other small businesses have been hit with the same problem over the years. Someone needs to bitch slap Taylor and get his corrupt ass out of office.

  16. Fully formed opinon based on about 1/2 the "facts". The Tony's Kansas City special. Thankfully, there's only about 10 people who comment here relentlessly and easily half of them don't even live in the city.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Taylor always looks like a kid wearing his dad's suit. Seriously, that guy is NOT ready for prime time, and his wife is an ugly bitch.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Crosby keeper couldn't get elected mayor of the downtown library if you put it to a vote. Jesus Christ, you people "live" in a bubble.

  19. With all of the alcohol rapes and murders in Kansas City, meaning all the rapes and murder in Kansas City are alcohol related we have to ask why the Kansas City City Hall is so desparate for the tax revenue?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I will vote for whoever fires Troy Schulte.

    Have at it chums.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Scott and Jolie should work towards the betterment of the city by firing Schulte

  22. I suspect that this has to do with the proposed MAC property investment at Armour and Troost.
They are trying to get package liquor at Armour and Gillham and Bars and nightclubs in themac development at Troost. Neighborhood groups and clergy are ready to challenge this full force.
The only neighborhood association to sign on is the Hyde Park Neighborhood association, its current president has tried this before only to have her own shit thrown back at the HOA ,AGAIN. I guess another homicide in a Troost bar is not enough .
Ckergy believe alcohol and 25 % below poverty are never a good mix.
Give Jolie hell Scott, we cant wait to vote her out

  24. Don't overlook a key statement in the letter: [While this was likely done to help one business]Why do we have an ordinance that is in place for all liquor businesses get a workaround for 1 business.

Maybe she should answer that question, then someone should find out who the business owner is and see how much has been donated to her campaigns previously or any campaign fund currently for her

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mike Burke would make a terrible Mayor

    ReplyDelete
  26. I wouldn't be surprised if Ed Ford ran for mayor. Last year Loar was telling people she tried to get him to run against Sly. She needs another puppet she can control. She already controls Fowler.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I wouldn't never have thought that Jolie would turn her back on neighborhoods . The violence, 2 murders at the point 2 at 57th and Troost.
    Severa homicides on Grand .
Bar owners take no responsibility outside of their establishments .
Im very disappointed in several council members, Hall ,Justus and Lucas do not return calls ,listen to their constituents.
I guess if you want to talk to Justus you need to pull up a,bar stool at Tower Tavern.
I live in Squire across from Hyde Park, the Hyde Park hipsters think that if the drop a bunch of whities on the corner to drink , piss and stumble to their homes or cars, the neighborhood will be better for it....that is till
they get robbed at gun point
They bar ends up getting sold to us ,we pack it,make money then the neighborhood wants to close us down and call the cops on us as suspicious.
One things for certain, you dont hear about blacks getting robbed at gunpoint, we aint cattle.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Black people don't get robbed at gunpoint?

Holy fuck this place IS an alternative reality. Black people are the primary victims of black crime.

Dat HPNA president so raycis she take a professional black boyfrien off da market sos us deservin black wimmins have to take from de dregs of society.

  30. Get the fuck outta here...

    ReplyDelete
  31. 10:19 doesn't realize he /She/undecided
is the best example of proof that racist pigs live west of Troost.
    Jolie played the race card

One person holding the consent back said he would give (a business owner) consent if she agreed not to play hip-hop music,” Justus said when offering an example of the requirements. “There have been some really unreasonable requests. It’s not at all the spirit of the conditional liquor license and it’s definitely not what we anticipated when it was crafted.”

  32. Taylor should rent out advertising space on his HUGE forehead. Jeez, you could run banner headlines across this space....
