KANSAS SECSTATE KRIS KOBACH STARTS KANSAS CITY RUCKUS TONIGHT!!!

An important discussion of Sunflower State politics with one of the architects of Trump's proposed border wall and possible Gov. Brownback replacement begins the latest episode of Kansas City's GOLD STANDARD political discussion show.

Description:

"Mike Shanin interviews Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach about school finance, KS GOP and his political future. Annie Presley, Jim Heeter, Terry Riley and Crosby Kemper III discuss the potential for streetcar expansion in the near future, the controversy surrounding the Lee's Summit school superintendent and the possibility for Libertarians having an impact on this year's presidential race."

  1. Kobach is a winner. If he wins the governorship along with Republican president Trump there will be no doubt that Kansas will have a bright future and will continue to cut taxes.

  2. Expect a few writers with the Star will go crazy if it ever happens.

But Kobach has more name recognition than any of his other competitors. That's for sure.

  4. WELCOME TO SHAM-AKUS......that weekly fraud for thought fight over the news of the day and the trends of the time. We interrupt your regularly scheduled Ruckus Weekly Review to provide this important public service announcement. And, we'll preface our remarks by reminding readers that the comments to follow should not be interpreted as a slight toward the performance of Mike Shanin as moderator, whom we enjoy.

    SHAM -- according to Merriam-Webster:

: something that is not what it appears to be and that is meant to trick or deceive people

: words or actions that are not sincere or honest

So you may ask---"Why do you point the accusing finger at KCPT and declare that the Ruckus formula is in fact a sham?"

Thank you for asking dear reader! As you no doubt have noticed by now, I have been repeatedly highlighting each week the glaring fact that Ruckus producers routinely and with few exceptions, assemble a panel of 3 Democrats and only 1 Republican or Libertarian to discuss the week's pre-selected topics with host Mike Shanin. While the casual or infrequent viewer may have never realized that they're being deliberately presented with a lopsided triple-time Democratic Party attempted indoctrination, those who recognize the panelists and their political persuasion will have noticed the massive discrepancy present.

Before presenting you with proof-positive of this KCPT contrived political sham, please recall that Ruckus panelists are identified only by name and oftentimes vague professional affiliation. The favorite job descriptor among panelists seems to be the murky veil of "consultant" which could be applied to all KCMO metro residents. The reason I mention this issue is to identify yet another major ethical lapse in the Ruckus format. If the goal is to inform and educate area residents, why are panelists not disclosing political affiliation and close personal ties to the people and issues being discussed? This error could be remedied easily by including said information on-screen, below the individuals name as it appears while they're speaking. Case in point, how many Ruckus viewers are aware that panelist Patrick McInerney served as Mayor James' legal counsel? Or that many of the "consultants" have received compensation for promoting City Hall objectives? When the panelists are giving their opinions on-air, isn't it only fair to disclose why they may never take a position contrary to the agenda pushed by Mayor James, the Democratic Party, and the mantra of Big Government/High Taxes?

I only ask for a balanced presentation and disclosure of facts, so that viewers are fully informed when listening to the weekly topics up for discussion. Is that really too much to expect from KCPT? Accountability from a PUBLIC television organization that likes to cite the importance of trust, integrity, and the pursuit of fairness in content, should not be a difficult benchmark to achieve each week.

  6. (PART 3)

    * Note: Steve Rose has appeared on the panel 3 times in 2016, and I'm being generous by recording him as a Republican (R) panelist. Mr. Rose, of course, writes for the ultra-liberal Kansas City Star and frequently opines against traditional Republican positions. The statistics provided below would be even more lopsided had I recorded him as an Independent or moderate Democrat.

Now dear reader, let's provide the math to accompany the above Ruckus panelist record, gleaned from the KCPT website itself.
    see here: http://kcpt.org/programs/local-programs/ruckustv/

Of the 18 episodes, through May 19, no less than 14 featured a panel skewed 3-to-1 favoring Democrats (78 percent). Four episodes featured a balanced 2-to-2 panel (22 percent). And exactly ZERO episodes featured a Republican and/or Libertarian dominated panel (0 percent).

Now, if you've stumbled onto this blog unaware that this is Kansas City's Last Free Speech Zone, and you're averse to occasional profanity, please turn away now, dear reader, for the moment of assessment requires it's use. And while I myself typically refrain from routine profanity, sometimes employing select language will best convey a writer's thought.

SHAM is too polite a word to describe this habitual pattern of stacking the deck in favor of the Democratic Party's views. Let's just be straightforward and blunt.....it's UNADULTERATED BULLSHIT. When 78 percent of Ruckus panel time was allotted to a Democrat majority, versus ZERO percent allotted to Republican and or Libertarian majority.....please note I'm being generous once again lumping together the (R)'s and (L)'s....it's plain as day that KCPT is operating NOT in the pursuit of fairness, but with purposeful bias and discrimination. In fact, discerning viewers may have noticed that KCPT believes that female Republicans are an extinct species, as not a single one has appeared on the Ruckus panel.

I thank you for your time dear reader, and welcome any comments you wish to share.

  8. 9:20 & 9:46 do of a GREAT job of rounding up the show and its history. I like Shannin but I think he has trouble bringing in quality conservatives to his show that is the best in KC.

  15. Absolutely agree with everyone here, supporting public television is important to keep Kansas City educated and informed by some of the very best professionals working in the business.

Mike Shanin is one of the best hosts Kansas City has ever seen and his work to further the discussion in our metro area deserves to be commended.

  16. As was quite astutely pointed out last week, some of the Democratic/Liberal panelists are far better than others. The 3-to-1 weeks are not nearly as bothersome when one of the D's is someone more level headed and intellectual (like Lisa who was specifically mentioned last week). But, some of the combinations of 3 are completely hysterical and make the show pretty abrasive to watch.

I think perhaps because Mike is a Republican KCPT includes him in the partisan count. However, as host and moderator, Mike doesn't get to talk as much as the panelists. And, while Mike does make a particular point now and then, he often times plays it pretty straight in moderating.

So, all in all I agree that trying to have a 2-and-2 panel more of the time would make for a better program. And, hopefully on many of these episodes a less extreme and hysterical Liberal could also be included to give more balance across the spectrum.

  21. It's hard to find quality conservative because they are mostly stupid hillbillies with a child's understanding of even the simplest aspects of government. And when you find one who isn't stupid, the tend to be as socially retarded and weasely Patrick Tooley, a grown man who thinks the world is a high school debate forum where no one can check his lies before they have to judge "his" ideas, which are nothing more than regurgitations of repackaged Reaganomics, a system most of us saw in action, while it devestated the Aemrican economy, undercut the principles of our democracy and failed to deliver anything short of massive wealth concentration and reverse robin-hood theft from the wealth creators to the bourgeoisie.
