Quick reminder that City Council continues to fund corporate giveaways that defy explanation . . .

Show-Me: "The City Council of Kansas City just voted 10 to 1 to declare some asphalt parking lots and grass fields just south of Crown Center as blighted so that the area can qualify for public subsidies."

  1. Does anyone in this town believe that the intention was for for "blighted" to be interpreted for legal purposes like KC government does it? The cocksuckers make the mob look like a bunch of boy scouts.

  4. The hubris of planners writing 50 year plans when they don’t even know what’s going to happen five years from now would be amusing if the consequences weren’t so expensive.

  5. I'm pretty sure KC did not invent this interpretation of 'blighted', it goes on in cities all across the state, I witnessed a much more egregious example in Liberty where they declared farmland 'blighted' because it lacked roads. Of course it lacked roads, it's fucking farmland.

  6. How to they make the distinction given most of Kansas Shitty is blighted?

  7. The definition of blight for TIF is that the property is not being put used to its best potential. Logically it means all land is blighted because someone could potentially build a more expensive development than what is already there.

  8. Well, land that has sat vacant for 40 years, contributing nothing to the tax base, but still consuming city resources is certainly not the best use. Cities are in the business of having citizens, kiddies. Sorry.
