Once again TKC accurately predicted this election outcome and the 70/30 earnings tax win which was still impressive but not the 80/20 split last time around . . . Just like TKC told you so . . .
Anyhoo . . .
TO START THE MORNING LET'S TAKE A LOOK WINNERS AND LOSERS OF LAST NIGHT'S LOW TURNOUT KANSAS CITY EARNINGS TAX VICTORY!!!
First . . . Take into account the losers . . .
Everybody Hates Rex
Pitch writes the best headline of this election: Rex Sinquefield is better off setting his money on fire than trying to defeat the earnings tax in Kansas City
The billionare makes the perfect punching bag and the success of the campaign draws away from all of the corporate welfare and the City Hall developer slush finding the E-tax provides.
Longstanding Kansas City Vacants Aren't Going Anywhere Any Time Soon
Yesterday they found some lady murdered behind one of many abandoned homes in Kansas City proper . . . Kansas City urban core denizens might want to realize that the effort to remove these structures was nothing more than a publicity stunt and this topic probably won't be revisited for another 3 & 1/2 years.
Kansas City Police Cutbacks Will Continue
The current budget could take 100 officers off the street according to the Chief of Police . . . Meanwhile, the administration sees this win as an endorsement of all their politics, fashion choices and public singing.
Now, smile with these Kansas City winners . . .
Mayor Sly Still King Of Kansas City
Credit where it's due . . . He was out in front of this vote and pushing this thing in KCMO and Jeff City. Mayor Sly is the champion of the earnings tax and he'll now work to extend it rather than find alternative funding sources like he once promised.
Kansas City Consultant Class Cash In!!!
The opposition to this tax was 4 lousy mailers, no TV commercials, no ground game and not a single yard-sign . . . Still, the local consultant class will be patting themselves on the back for the next 5 years and celebrating the lack of interest in local Democracy where most elections are won or lost before a single ballot is cast.
Kansas City White Elephant Stampede Coming Soon!!!
The toy train streetcar extension, a new airport more luxury condos and even more surprises are on the way . . . This vote ushers Mayor Sly's EPIC slate of projects that will probably be bankrupt Kansas City but sound nice to the local electorate.

KCUR: “By the vote tonight, the business community and the citizens have said the quality of life in this city is what we want it to be, and we want to keep making it stronger,” said Mayor Sly James
Developing . . .
New airport?
ReplyDeleteNot likely.
KC might love taxes, but it hates waiting.
Sly James = the man who sold kansas city into financial ruin.
ReplyDeleteLots of leaps in logic here but the police angle holds us. If KC isn't finding the money to adequately fund police now, then there is no incentive to change things given the margin of victory.
ReplyDeleteIf anything, look for greater cuts to police which will be a disaster considering the upswing in murders over the past few days.
New airport? People said the same thing about the Sprint Center, the Power & Light District, the streetcar, and the convention hotel... See you at the groundbreaking of the new single terminal airport... That's how this city works.
ReplyDeleteI love Rex. Great guy. Great activism.
ReplyDeleteMore robberies out at the K, Chief games too, it's going to be a long hot summer and all it takes is one trigger for the dominoes to fall wretchedly in this town. One serious storm during tornado season. Something is coming to town....and it is trouble.
ReplyDeleteSomething wicked this way comes...
ReplyDeleteBut state could still rule the e-tax out. So the fat lady not done singing yet.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot one more loser: Tony's Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteYou are now officially the favored blog of a handfull of lazy-ass, over-privileged white boys who would rather bitch, whine and cry on a blog combox than to actually get off their butts and accomplish anything.
This had nothing to do with Lyin' Sly's influence.
ReplyDeleteCitizens of KCMO know we are heading to bankruptcy at some point and we would be completely screwed immediately without this thing they just don't say anything about it!!
At least we sent a message to Kansas Side folk. You want to play in Killa City you have to pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And in shocking news, dog bites man.
ReplyDeleteOf course the E-Tax passed. This town is a bunch of sheep and gullies. S'lie wasn't going to let the city's corporate welfare slush fund go up in smoke.
The "Yes" campaign had zero to do with firing police, fire, and city workers. They are ALREADY firing cops WITH the E-Tax in place. So that was a lie. It had everything to do with having money to throw incentives at corporations to develop here. Point, blank, period.
And even though billionaire Rex threw a couple million at the "No" vote, there was never any organized campaign against the E-Tax. Yeah, Tuohy would go on Ruckus every few weeks or write blurb on showmeinstitute every few weeks. But, as mentioned, there were never any TV ads, billboards, yard signs. Yeah, got a couple fliers in the mail a short while back. But that was it.
Long live King S'lie and KC's culture of taxing the poor to give to the rich.
Thanks for trying Rex!
ReplyDeletequality of life?
ReplyDeleteLMAO!
Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery’s... female employees wearing “sexy plaid kilts and matching plaid bras with white camp shirt” moving to downtown from JOCO! Possibly P+L!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHuge win for downtown quality of life!
Tony:
ReplyDeleteYou respond remarkably similar to Trump when you lose.
Just sayin'.
You would think you would be used to defeats by this point.
Continue the bitching. Predictability is therapeutic.
Waaaaaaaaahhhh! Pay attention to me!
ReplyDeleteThe lesson for those who cheerlead the triumph of fraud (e-tax) is that lying works and that it can continue indefinitely — or at least until they are clear of culpability for it, either retired, dead, or safe beyond the statute of limitations for their particular crime.
ReplyDeleteThe e tax didn't pass 80:20 last time, you fucking stupid motherfucker. It passed by a nearly identical margin.
ReplyDeleteSo all your bitching and all of Touheys -brought-to-you by Rex lies and all of Dan Coffeys sad, sad attempts to pretend to be the "voice of Brookside" are all irrelevant.
Just like this commenter told ya so!
Relax the toy trolley and Burkes hotel is going to generate BILLIONS!
ReplyDeleteRelax it's just a fucking streetcar. The world doesn't end when the city build public transit infrastructure that you don't agree with. Get over it.
ReplyDeleteAll Rex did was show how low Lyin' Sly James and his Lyin'crew will go to intimidate, scare, and bully the lemmings into voting for this scheme.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, the Kansas City Atheist Coaltion had no relevant position on any of these issues.
ReplyDeleteOr any other that I can see.
However, of their supposedly hundreds of members, about SIX showed up to "help" (read, get publicity) at the fading Micah Ministry.
Perhaps they need new leadership?
And the lemmings bought it lock stock and barrel 9:30
ReplyDeleteNext up City will ask voters to approve a $1billion GO infrastructure bond with most of the money going towards the Broadway Bridge and Southland. Whatevers left will build 4 lane parkways in the northland nobody needs.
ReplyDeleteYou know, Tony, the reason there wasn't any "serious opposition" to the e-tax might just have been because serious people wouldn't oppose it.
ReplyDeleteThe same applied to Sly and his re-election. He was such a shoo-in that he only drew a couple of clowns against him.
And the clown you favored couldn't even beat the other clown in the primary.
Could just be me but I didn't see last night's E-Tax vote as a referendum on Sly James' leadership. Realize that the Star and other sycophants are saying it is but that's just the nature of the ass-kisser-to kiss ass.
ReplyDeleteJust another reason to never go to KCMO which I hardly do.
ReplyDeleteOf course the Etax is going to pass. Over half the people who pay it have no vote. You would have to be an idiot to give up that free ride.
ReplyDeleteHalf that Etax is paid by those working in KC, but not living in KC. Yep, pay to play 8:11 for the good jobs and then those earnings go to revenues for property taxes, fees, shopping, dining, tuitions, recreation, and more-- TO OTHER CITIES.
ReplyDeleteHow many KC residents don't get the paychecks that are spent on living in other cities?
No doubt the folks living outside of KC were betrayed and robbed by those living inside the city limits. Our hands were tied. We had no voice, no rights, no say whatsoever. I can tell you folks that there is an effort underway to end Earnings tax in Missouri. There is also an effort being organized to disrupt state funds heading into Kansas City. Further there is an organized boycott effort. You tied our hands during your ginned up fake ass election and now were are going to use those hands to choke the living shit out of crooked ass, mooching KC. Hello new Detroit.
ReplyDelete10:43 Your blood sucking coon town has already received literally billions in Federal and State Dollars over the years. Drive down any of your raggedy assed streets and show me where the money was wisely spent. The tax payers outside of KC have contributed enough. It God Damn hasn't been the local shill politicians or coon ran government creating the jobs. Please explain the great benefits those of us living outside KC get for our tax dollars? I guarantee you cant. Just look at the difference between job growth in the city and outside of the city over the last decade and get a fucking clue as to the negative effects your city finances has on those considering business operations in the KC metro.
ReplyDeleteYour leaders are fucking low lifes and pick pockets who just swindled everyone living outside the city and working for employers inside the city. Employers that can not tell anyone where the city contributed a fucking thing to their success other than just existing. I wonder how KC would do if those outside the city limits suddenly stopped attending events, concerts, festivals, buying consumables and purchasing anything involving a sales, use or convenience tax. I have a feeling we are going to find out soon enough.
Well, there are two solutions to your problem, 11:26.
ReplyDelete1. Live and work outside of KC. That way you don't pay the KC earnings tax.
2. Live and work inside KC. That way, you get to vote on the KC earnings tax.
Are you dense 11:38 simple solution is to end the e-tax. Then when you residents see how much people outside of Kansas City are supporting your asses you can then start paying taxes the same as the surrounding counties do for those things you need. Plus you will come to the conclusion very quickly how many freeloaders who don't do a damn thing live in that hellhole of a town.
ReplyDeleteShould have expected it. Coons and white trash don't know how to survive without stealing.
ReplyDelete10:43 here, not KC employed nor resident, but some friends, family, clients are. My point is some well paid employees at Cerner, Honeywell, paralegals, nurses, professors, media, pro sports staff, or whomever (couples earning double or more annual average, especially) are taking their good wages to other cities.
ReplyDeleteMany spend several thousands each year on other cities' property taxes for homes and vehicles, thousands to insurance, plenty to retail, dining, entertainment and loads to private tuitions and faith communities, plus more. The 1% is small or no consequence to their standards of living. They are concerned with viabilities for their
sources of income. They don't want to live in less desirable school and residential districts...a trade-off.
This is Killa' City! How can a taxpayer lose in this exciting and wholesome environment?
ReplyDeletesounds like Tony's a loser.
ReplyDeleteNot because of the etax victory, just in general.
If he is he should be fine given this is looser town KC.
ReplyDeleteKC = Home of taxes.
ReplyDeleteYou numb nuts living outside the KC city limits need to be boycotting KC effective immediately. I know most of you don't have any fucking scruples and would give Slime James a blow job if he told you to go there, but you need to put a stop to this shit. If you don't get some balls and do it then it wont happen.
ReplyDelete^^^ This is the real solution.
ReplyDeleteThe border war is back on.
"You are now officially the favored blog of a handfull (sic)of lazy-ass, over-privileged white boys who would rather bitch, whine and cry on a blog combox than to actually get off their butts and accomplish anything."
ReplyDeleteSays 8:10, the guy who's on here every day, several times a day.
