TKC EXCLUSIVE QUESTION TONIGHT!!! SO, KANSAS CITY IS COOL WITH FORMER JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE SANDERS AND HIS GOLDEN PARACHUTE?!?

The legacy of questionable deals continues in Jackson County and right now our blog community has some questions of our own.

To wit . . .

IS KANSAS CITY COOL WITH THE GOLDEN PARACHUTE ENJOYED BY FORMER JACKSON COUNTY EXEC MIKE SANDERS?!?!

And aside from a few notable exceptions . . .

IF SO, MOST OF THE POLITICAL AND NEWISE COMMUNITY IN KANSAS CITY IS JUST AS WORTHLESS AS WE SUSPECTED!!!

Mike Sanders resigned his political office like a hobo in the middle-of-the night around Christmas time and the response from pundits and politicos was nothing but praise and accolades of the job that he did while in office. His excuse about spending time with his family was widely accepted from adults as if they were children hearing stories of Santa Claus.

And then . . . Our TKC blog community broke news about his new job at a prominent law firm FIRST.

- Credit where it's due, Mike Hendricks reported this fun fact . . . Mr. Sanders is under contract for six months at $10,000 a month under a professional services agreement to provide legal services.

- Additionally, it is widely noted that . . . "(Law firm dude) McClain contributed to Sanders’ political campaigns"

- About the new Jackson County contract . . . Remember that Jackson County Exec, Mike Sanders appointed the County Counselor and now "that contract with the county counselor’s office, Sanders will help with continuing negotiations on the acquisition of the Rock Island railroad corridor for use as a trail and possible commuter rail line. Sanders was instrumental in getting that deal brokered."

So . . . We will never see that vaporware Jackson County train but that doesn't men taxpayers won't be footing the bill for it.

Even better . . .

NOBODY HAS ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BIDDING PROCESS FOR THIS EPIC MIKE SANDERS CONTRACT WITH THE COUNTY COUNSELOR'S OFFICE!!!

Spoiler alert . . . We'll answer that concern. . . The County Counselor has a great deal of leeway when awarding contracts and this amount falls under his discretion. So far nobody has raised any questions about any possible conflict of interest . . . Because most of those questions normally go straight to the County Counselor which is a WIN for everybody who wants this shady episode in JaxCo history to go away.

And this hot mess is all good if not for one last hypocritical slap in the face to voters . . .

KANSAS CITY'S POLITICAL ESTABLISHMENT AND NEWS MEDIA CELEBRATE THE LEGACY OF THE FORMER COUNTY EXEC FOR HIS WORK THAT CLEARLY INCLUDED PUTTING TOGETHER THE PIECES THIS EPIC GOLDEN PARACHUTE!!!

As of this posting there's not one editorial from any pundit in Kansas City in this town on this golden parachute deal other than accolades for Mr. Sanders.

Sure, all of these contract moves are legal but none of it is anything to brag about and it's a far cry from all of that silly talk about reform and improving leadership at the Courthouse.

And now we look to the future where Exec Frank White owes his popularity to his long gone baseball glory days and a Royals World Series victory he had nothing to do with . . . Meanwhile the County Legislator is too busy securing their own interests to make a peep. One last thing, most of the Executive Office is still occupied by former staffers hired by Mike Sanders.

Again, it's hard not to admire the work of Mr. Sanders in brokering these deals but this vast array of questionable connections and EPIC contracts going on right under the noses of media and the local Democratic Party leaders should give voters pause the next time they're listening to promises of reform from Kansas City politicos.

Developing . . .

  1. Really, I think you just had to post that image and a few links.

jackson county will continue as usual.

KC will fail to live up to population growth in the outlying Northland counties and Johnson county. There are a lot of reasons for that, this might be one.

  4. Jackson County has always been a cesspool. Mike was never a reformer, he was just an opportunist. Isn't he the same guy who went on Dr. Phil?

He had good intentions, he just never lived up to them.

Shame that he turned into such a crook.

  5. A golden parachute is a retirement package. He got another job. Know the difference, jesus.

It beats giving niggers handjobs, which is what you'll enjoy doing in your golden years.

  12. NOBODY HAS ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BIDDING PROCESS FOR THIS EPIC MIKE SANDERS CONTRACT WITH THE COUNTY COUNSELOR'S OFFICE!!!

You might want to check on the limits for a sole source contract. If it's under those limits, it does not have to be bid.

It's take a phone call to the County Contracting Office, Paco. I know that's harder than "ALL CAPS" and three apostrophes, but if you want to throw stones, make the effort to answer your own question.

I don't have a position on Sanders, but lazy bloggers that don't make any effort to learn before they incite, brings back thoughts of an ass hole I knew in 4th grade.

  17. The taxpayer-provided general funds of both Jackson County and KCMO are nothing more than troughs for a little band of amateurish D-list celebrity politico wannabees to look out for themselves, families, and friends.
Any actual public policy matters that benefit the residents or businesses in those jurisdictions are purely by chance and a sideline to the basic matter of "what are you going to run for next?".
An incredibly expensive social club for losers who act like they're members of a middle school clique.
It would be funny, if it didn't cost so much and actual people weren't damaged by it.

I am hiring both of the Sanders children to be the Jackson County Parks Kids Patrol and Fun Crew. Please Clap. I will find some money in the budget to pay them each $50,000 a month until the age of 18, when we can renegotiate the deal. Please Clap.
