TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY RESTARTS SPRING CLEANING BLIGHT JUST IN TIME FOR E-TAX CAMPAIGN!!!

Let's finish Kansas City Friday afternoon with a bit of somewhat good news about cleaning up Kansas City neighborhoods.

To wit . . .

BROKEN WINDOWS CRIME FIGHTING THEORIES ABOUT BLIGHT AND FEAR OVER E-TAX REJECTION HAS INSPIRED KANSAS CITY TO PLAN AN EPIC SPRING CLEANING THAT SHOULD EARN A GREAT DEAL OF PUBLICITY!!!

Proof that public TV still holds sway . . . A groundbreaking documentary contributed to the conversation . . .

Check this snippet of spirited e-mail circulating that makes the connection . . .

"The City of Kansas City is the largest owner of blighted property and even though this current mayor made a campaign promise to tear down problematic buildings he has done absolutely nothing. Every Kansas City voter should view: Our Divided City, prior to voting on the e-tax. Then ask yourself is Kansas City being a good steward of my hard earned cash or are they not. If they are not then you need to vote no on the e-tax."

Now here's where it gets good . . .

CHECK THIS E-MAIL NOTING AN UPCOMING KANSAS CITY BLIGHT FIGHT PARTNERSHIP COMING SOON!!!

Checkit:

The City Manager has advised the City will partner with the Kansas City Community Release Center beginning May 1st to identify and cleanup overgrown brush, dumping sites etc. in public areas. This could include a public alley in a neighborhood that’s overgrown with weeds, trees, etc. The program will be completely managed by the City. The City has asked the Police Department for recommendations on cleanup sites.

The City Manager has also asked for suggestions for the abandoned/dangerous buildings for possible demolition/remediation. City Manager Schulte has advised that the City has funds specifically earmarked for this endeavor and has asked the Police Department for recommendations.

So if your neighborhood has any overgrown public areas or buildings that need to be demolished/remediated, send the locations to me and I will forward them on to the City. I need your suggestions on the dangerous buildings by 02-10-16, and suggestions on overgrown areas by 02-24-16.

Analysis from our blog community . . .

"It is reasonable to conclude that this project was due to the KCPT documentary and to the fact that voters are having a say on the earnings tax."

More to the point and a contradiction of "Kansas City Nice" curse of phony politeness enforced by so many denizens of our local discourse . . . Nothing ever gets done at City Hall without a lot of complaining from voters or politicos in desperate need of cash.

You decide . . .

  3. Northeast was supposed to have 100 decrepit homes torn down... That number was reduced to 95 then 92 and now 77. Don't believe anything they say

  4. They should tear into those niggerhoods and start destroying houses...with the niggers in them!

The area around the house I live in now is becoming very niggerized and I am hoping the renovations will be done and I can move to my all human building late next week. Realtor already told me I will be lucky if I can sell the place for a $20K loss and will probably be looking at a lot more thanks to the niggerification in this area and a nigger will probably buy it (I hate the through of selling to a nigger but I figure I can get rid of the place and it would be unfair to subject a human to all the niggers here) and he said I may want to convert this to a rental property and sell it in a couple years so I can deduct the loss if I do it right or we may have a more tax friendly president and congress in the next couple years who will make the loss on a sale of a residence tax deductable. I know that will mean renting to niggers and there is no way I will rent to a nigger, I'll just suffer the loss now. I'll lose out on a hell of a lot more money from renting to a porcher than if I just sell the place for a loss now.

This is just another sign of Kansas City trickery.

  7. This Mayor is learning the hard way that integrity is earned, not given because he can skin and grin with the best of them.

  8. No matter how many houses the City demolishes, I'm still voting NO on the e-tax. It's too little too late and when he needed to be destroying vacant nuisances, he was taking homes from people/neighborhoods who could have benefited from the clean-ups. Our eastside neighborhoods are a mess because the City owns and fails to maintain the lion-share of the eyesores in these areas. I've got a lot next door that I've maintained for the City for more than 8 years! I should send their asses a invoice!

  10. The city needs residents to tell the city which city-owned properties need to be demolished? How stupid does our mayor think we are?

    Oh My!!!
I see what the problem has been all these years. City Manager Schulte and Mayor James just haven't been able to locate any of the thousands of blighted lots and abandoned dilapidated houses. Of course, they don't know where the East-side is either, as there aren't many developers over there handing out bribes for favors.

SEND A LOUD MESSAGE TO CITY HALL

VOTE NO ON THE E-TAX RENEWAL
.....and then ask them, CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

  13. How about some spring cleaning at city hall? Like a city manager and a bunch of department directors

  14. ^^^ There's not special tax being used to justify it. It's a shame because many of them need to be shown the door. Like Pat Klein.

  15. So the city is spending tax money on blighted housing?
