Best thing about downtown KCMO is there's barely any reason to go there, so I won't miss it much. Oh, the jobs there? In another 10 years, they will all have moved to Overland Park.
This will be a smart move for Kansas City. We must get away from dangerous carbon emitting vehicles and gluttonous consumption of fossil fuels. We will move KC forward. We will pass the earnings tax on April 5th. We are making KC best in the nation.

This organization was formed from a group outta Denver.
Many of these groups suck up many government grants awarded to cities.
They want to FORCE their agenda down people's throats.
The also want to eliminate all traffic through wesport and Grand St. in tbe Crossroads District.
They dont care if it makes it
difficult for handicap /elderly or physically challenged.

I remember that jack up BS in KCK. I knew one of the dipshit squirrels responsible for making that happen and he said then, "Wwho cares if it works, it looks cool and will be awesome on my resume." ReplyDeleteIn '73 the yuuuuge white flight was underway in good 'ol DIRTY TRIX POLITIX KCK. We were stuck there for awhile with the other FD/PD/BPU/etc. employees' kids. Those downtown Dotte 'pylons' and zigzag, kiddie roller coaster narrow-ass road 'on the Avenue' was friggin' FUBAR! The ample, convenient storefront parking was done away with, we were told, for encouraging walking while enjoying an artscaped city center--HA! We rode bikes, rollerskated, soaped the fountains and water ballooned kids from rival CYO teams. We didn't venture there after DARK--no whud om sayun?

Oh sure. When YOU walk the sidewalks of downtown KC, all you see is fellow suburban commuters, some of whom even wear suits and Italian shoes.
But we're talking about the other 16 hours of the day. Walk those sidewalks then and your head will end up on a stick.
I'm probably the first on record *requesting* this as far back as 2013. I opposed the streetcar but we're getting it and with all the problems it creates, we're going to get our best ROI by diverting vehicle traffic to Walnut and Baltimore.
ReplyDeleteWhat traffic? There's peak hours and big events, but outside that Main St doesn't have any traffic on it.
ReplyDeleteIt's possible to walk down the middle of Main at 18th on a Sunday and not be worried about being hit because the only car will see you from three blocks away.
