Sons Of Anarchy's Chris Franjola At Stanfords
So how does a 'Bobby Kennedy' look alike comic from New Jersey go from co starring with Chelsea Handler on her show to hosting 'Sons of Anarchy?' You can find out tonight and Saturday at Stanford and Sons Comedy Club/Restaurant in Overland Park. It's Chris Franjola doing the honors as headline comic from both shows.
Franjola has that David Letterman style and wit while he expresses his views on everything from being single all these years to what the hell is going on in America today. His style and good looks have made him one of our brightest and hottest comedy stars today. Don't let all that fool you, he came up the hard way in LA as a writer, actor and comic before Chelsea Handler discovered him for her show, Chelsea Lately. Both Chris and Josh Wolf, who was at Stanfords a few weeks ago, co starred with Handler for her five year run. They wrote and helped produce the show as well as being on nearly all the programs with her. So much so, that Chelsea gave them their own show a few years back, called 'After Lately.' Chris followed that up with hosting the post show on 'Sons of Anarchy' much like 'Talking Dead' the after what we just saw program that followed the series. So he has become a well known media comic today.
Chelsea left the show just over a year ago to put together a new Chelsea Handler program that will begin this spring. It will be her version of 'The Daily Show' with Franjola being her 'main man' not only doing comedy with her but out in the field as well, kinda her Lewis Black. Handler has just started her new Netflix doc's which have gotten great reviews and she will follow that with her new series with Chris.
This will be Franjola's thrid time to Stanfords since we brought him in while he was still on Chelsea Lately a few years back at Legends along with Josh Wolf. He was kind enough to replace Tim Meadows who got a film role this past week, and will be back this spring.

By the way Stanfords does Murder Mystery twice a month on Sundays for the most part. Those tickets are sold on Groupon. Next week will be a kick with the popular comedy couple Dante and Rebecca from NBC'S Last Comic Standing where they met and have been together ever since doing movies like 'Inappropriate Comedy' tv shows including 'Fashion Police' for Joan Rivers and both hosted the AVN Awards They met Ron Jeremy there last year and 'RON JEREMY' WILL COSTAR WITH THEM NEXT WEEK AT STANFORDS. Now that will be fun and different. Many here have seen Ron on stage at Rockfest as well as his own show on reality tv. Ron not only is the biggest name in Adult films but has been in mainstream movies as well like Reindeer Games with Ben Alffleck. See them next week at Stanfords. For Valentines week its comedy icon Jimmy JJ Walker.

ReplyDeleteHe is just a terrible host. He has no command of the interview, can't ask a question without uhhh ummmmm. He's very annoying. Should've gotten Hardwick to do it. He's good at these after shows.
This is genuinely the worst live segment I've ever seen on television! The host is completely clueless.
Not only does he clearly miss social cues any normal human being would pick up on, but he has zero sense of pacing or how to control or influence dialogue. You can see the actors being uncomfortable with how lost he is and I've watched this aftershow for multiple episodes!
Yeah it was quite terrible. It was so cooooool how he kept pointing at me through the TV too ;__;
Absolutely H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E effort.
Truly terrible television. Please learn from this FX. The show itself deserves so much better.
Kudos for dumping Franjola, if even for one episode.

ReplyDeleteI find all the hate funny. Glazer introduced Ron White to KC. i worked at the club at Hooters OP when he did. Small crowds back then about 1999 I think. Give White credit he appreciated Craig giving him a break and came back to a sold out week when he got Blue Collar a couple years later. The Glazer over the decades has brought to KC almost every big name there is, was or will be for now. I give the man credit. He put us on the comedy map. I heard talk bout Stanfords on that kinda new show @midnight. Good show. Louie CK loves Stanfords and so do many on air media stars. Way it is. Embrace it they are icons in this industry like em or not. Way it is bitches.
ReplyDeleteAgree with the Dean guy. Stanfords is one of our few national names that matters or has over the years. There's Kelly's, Gates, Bryants, Winsteds and boy STANFORDS. Yep they put us on the entertainment map for comedy and just having stars in smaller venues like Westport. Been to the new club, good food, saw TJ Miller, great show about one month back. No reason to hate on the Glazer boys, they have sure lived crazy lives. One of them has that book. So yeah they are cool with me.

ReplyDeleteUnl&ike the hate monsters I will post my name. I read all this malarky on here this afternoon. I had bought two tickets to see Franjola, my gal loves Chelsea. Went to first show, packed so was the restaurant. I see maybe four comics a year at Improv, Stanfords, Midland and even Uptown. This guy was just one of the best. I was surprised. I am not a Chelsea fan. He did a bit on being older and ending up in our P&L ditrict last night. How he was too old, the girls were all wanting to dance to 'you got a fat ass' songs it was classic. Loved it. Would sure see him again. So you hate monkeys picked the wrong comic to belittle, he's fantastic.
