TKC Saturday Night Playlist: After Mizzou Racial Drama, What Have We Learned???

Hard to believe it has been about month since a hunger strike @ Mizzou sparked another round of racial unrest in America's heartland and a slew of keyboard warriors called to action.

As usual on the Internets, there has been a great deal of blind hateration that's neither entertaining nor insightful in this discussion of diversity. After all, just about every online outlet that doesn't censor comments is simply home to a great deal of rage porn as people are prepared to curse Cheerios because of their wasted lives.

Still, there is a worthwhile discussion out there for those willing to look hard enough and beyond the hate.

From a Conservative perspective, this is probably the best take on the hot mess that doesn't come from online denizens but from an old school newspaper man . . .

George F. Will: America’s higher education brought low

Read and learn, a great many intelligent points delivered without racist ranting.

Still . . .

An increasing amount of vitriolic diatribe seems to be emerging in the American discourse that it's getting hard to distinguish one litany of complaints from the next. Cynics might say that none of these lives matter if they're just going to be used for an endless array of griping that only serves to fuel debate that's ultimately unproductive, unhelpful and really just an exercise in venting for people who have taken the greatest technological breakthrough of the modern era and turned it into a glorified soap box.

But there is hope . . .

Throughout the world we're finally starting to have a discussion about Free Speech and even locals are starting to think about the rights that protect their mostly misguided missives.

If nothing else, online discourse from Mizzou to Mumbai reveals the value of an open discourse now upheld as a basic human right.

Free speech isn't good for biz and doesn't help heal hurt feelings but focusing on the power of the discourse is possibly the greatest achievement of the Internets so far, or at least right up there with the keyboard cat.

And once again, pardon the quick rant, as we celebrate free speech for the late night and realize that even an honest comment ranks above so many fake mainstream media polite conversations.

All this has inspired tonight's playlist . . .

And this is the OPEN THREAD for right now . . .

  11. I learned that blacks are RACE players and there is no new low for them when they want to distract from work and achievement and get a free pass on something. I also learn that even a college education won't help stupid people survive in a normal society. All MU did was pass the responsibility to educate on to a future employer and these clowns are going to learn some damn hard lessons in the real world. Again our institutes of higher learning fail by pouring adulation on people that have to learn it all doesn't go their way on demand.
