TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY TRAFFIC BACK UPS AND PARKING FRUSTRATION RUIN AMERICAN ROYAL BBQ @ TRUMAN SPORTS COMPLEX!!!

Kansas City media is keeping a BBQ crisis secret and only our blog community is willing to reveal the tragic deets of poor planning.

To wit . . .

FIRST WORD FROM TKC!!! VISITORS TO THE FIRST KANSAS CITY AMERICAN ROYAL BBQ @ THE TRUMAN SPORTS COMPLEX COMPLAIN OF TRAGIC TRAFFIC TROUBLE THAT RUINED THE LOCAL FOODIE CELEBRATION!!!

Here's the word from a brave denizen of our blog community who isn't afraid to skewer traditional wisdom and grill organizers. Checkit:

"Holy cow, what a complete mess the BarBQ was at Truman Sports. Horrible Event Organization. We entered on the East side of complex from Blue Ridge and were forced to drive in a single file lane around outer road. Single fucking file!!! We could see about 3-4,000 parking spots available near entrance but were not allowed to access. These spots were very near the event booths and tents.

"No, we were directed to the far West parking areas over by the Chiefs practice facility after driving in single file for at least 45 minutes. We weren't alone. It affected thousands of cars.

"Once we finally parked, we were forced to walk from far West parking extremes all the way across complex back to the East side of entire complex. Basically, it was collect $20 per car and welcome to the chaos. So who is the moron that designed the parking plan for this event? That person should be fired. Of course, the parking alone is probably $1/2 million in revenue, so they will just hope everyone was too drunk to remember the lousy parking plan. One fucking lane of traffic is all that was allowed once you paid your lousy $20 per car?"

This bold watch dog of our blog community then notes: "It would be great to post the name of that idiot that was in charge and let the lambasting begin. We won't be going to the BarBQ again."

There are far too many organizers to name. Ultimately, the Truman Sports Complex and it's parking lot is owned by the County. And like it or not, the responsibility for all things concerning County biz falls with Exec Mike Sanders.

The County touted this event @ the sports complex as a big win and now there is a media blackout given the obvious outrage over a troubling parking snafu. And so we post this public information in order to encourage accountability and warn local BBQ celebrates about a long wait for the failed festival of Kansas City gluttony.

  1. Parking was screwed but an event of this scale is going to have some problems. It's the 1st year for the Royal so I think there were some growing pains.

But I won't deny that like all things related to the County, your tipster is right about it just being a scam to earn more tax money for the bloated staffs and these politicians.

  2. The bbq is a joke. Your tipster is right to complain. He should demand a refund.

Seriously, this is one of the worst events in KC.

  3. You need to talk about the restroom situation. Serious lack of facilities for women and men. The planners are really off their game this year. Why don't they take a year off and come up with better management?

Listen, I had to schmooze with the media, raise money for Claire when the damn marks I usually go to are scared of getting visit from the FBI and I had a few poker games to play with campaign funds. I simply did not have time to make sure the idiots I appointed to the Sports Authority did their jobs. At least they collected the parking fees? I mean I am sure I can find something to spend it on in downtown Independence to bring a smile to Ken McClain's face.

    So back off Tony.

  5. "I simply did not have time to make sure the idiots I appointed to the Sports Authority did their jobs." No just one idiot...JIM ROWLAND. This jack-off could/would/will always screw the most minor job up to hell and at the same time swagger around like he's the smartest guy in the room. Never done shit in his career and still somehow scams patronage jobs. Sanders needs to disassociate himself from losers like Rowland. Don't sweat it Mike, he can't deliver 1% of the votes he promised you and has zero pull at City Hall and Jeff.

  6. This was a set-up, a fabricated excuse to say that because the facilities in KCMO--first the West Bottoms, now Arrowhead--are so inept, the Royal will take its premiere event and go to Village West. Neal and his Royal pooh-bahs will be able to extract their revenge for City Hall's refusal to tear down Kemper and give them their new toys.

  8. I have some serious connections in Rome. I will see if I can get the Pope to refocus from the refugee pain and suffering and prioritize Tony's Denizens who have to cope with the misery of traffic and restroom conditions.

Next thing you know, we will have to put up with delays due to the KC MARATHON.

  9. Will confirm parking mess, whole thing was a cluster.

  10. It was awful. I went the opposite way from west to east but it was the same thing. Crawled along and finally pulled up on the grass. It was the same for concerts this summer. Chiefs park the cars not the County.

    ReplyDelete
  11. We should all remember Roland from his city council screw-ups. I will also not be returning to this event.

  12. dont forget the pot holes when you call the pope.

  13. Every mass event in KCMO seems to be a massive cluster fuck these days. Miserable planning and worse execution: inadequate restrooms, awfu parking, shitty food concessions ... and worst of all, young Kansas Citians, of ALL races, running amok like drunken sailors stampeding a whorehouse on payday.

The one thing that always works well is collecting exorbitant amounts of cash from everyone who attends.

This is a poorly run city. Possibly more poorly run than ever before. Stay away. It will soon be bankrupt, with your help or without it.

  14. "running amok like drunken sailors stampeding a whorehouse on payday." Funniest thing I have read all day, if only because I have actually witnessed that metaphor happen.

  15. 8:22. Growing pain? These are professionals who organized the event. In my world, I'd get fired if I was in charge... Instead, nobody takes the blame and same shut will happen next year.
So what's the county cut for the parking fees?
Maybe the can lease a couple more top of the line Jeep Grand Cherokee.

  16. well with no mass transit, I guess the meat smoking niggers get what they bitch and whine for.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Are the Elders playing this event too?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Damn shame that this city can't do better, how are we supposed to make kc grow if we can't even run a bbq contest.

Hang your head in shame in front of all the barbecue world.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Just keep in mind that in KCMO it's not the events, projects, or programs themselves that are important.
It's the ANNOUNCEMENTS and the grandiose inflated CLAIMS afterward that the electeds, Chamber swells, tourist agencies, and other assorted hometown rahs rahs put their energies on.
And of course the local media which has become little more that press release readers and cheerleaders for every ridiculous claims these other folks make.
And worse news: These people are actually beginning to believe their own hype.

  20. Monty Summers the owner of Full Moon Productions, The Edge of Hell and The Beast owned the parking contract under the 12th St bridge, and he always did a great job of managing the parking there for the American Royal BBQ. Put a businessman in charge, and it would have worked.

  21. I actually was part of a stampede - but it was "OUT" of a whorehouse -- in the shithole army town outside Ft Polk --

beds were lined up like a hospital ward - some dude pulled a gun on a hooker -- and everbody scrammed

and..yes.. both the dude & the hooker were ...niggers

  22. the recent airshow with the Blue Angels was spectacular!

and ..yepp.. KC, MO Democrats fucked that one up too-- took HOURS to get out of the Downtown Airport.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The parking is controlled by the Chiefs, not the County. The mess was the Chiefs fault, and it was a mess!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I was all set to go to this barbecue thing, and then somebody told me that I wouldn't get to eat any of the competitors' barbecue. What the fuck? Can that even be true?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I blame the schools.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Chiefs were in charge of parking plan and of course keep the money. Apparently the guy complaining hasn't been too a Chief's football game.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It is and isn't the Chiefs fault here. Yes they hire people to run the parking and keep the money, but they don't care or oversee the plan the company puts in place. Same for Chief games and I'm guessing Royals games. That company is called Premier Parking, they also do the parking at Starlight. So the Chiefs and Jackson County should have better management of that.
