Kansas Death Penalty SCOTUS Smackdown!!!

State sanctioned killing in the Sunflower State inspires spirited argument among the highest court in the land that still can't speed up the process or change the fact that no one has been executed by the state of Kansas since 1965. At the Supreme Court, Justices Are Furious With One Another Over Death Penalty Cases

  1. So the writer is obviously against the death penalty. So why is it becoming easy to get state governments to allow "assisted suicide" but those same people oppose the death penalty? They use the same drugs

  2. This is why in Kansas you carry without a permit. Someone has to protect you.

  3. According to the story in the Star, the Justices were pretty much in agreement about the murdering brothers. Now Slate says they went at it hammer and tong. How can it be both? Is one spinning some yarn, or are both spinning? It almost makes one lose his faith in the honesty and integrity of journalists.

  4. "... the justices tend to go into beast mode when capital punishment is involved."

That's the point, Capital Murder is meant to satisfy our most primitive, & shameful, urges.

If murder is wrong, then so is state sanctioned murder. It adds to the devaluation of life, leading to more murders.

Why are Christians such blood thirsty savages?

  5. Byron, I am a Christian and as such I am pro life on ALL issues. I am against abortion, I am against the death penalty, and I am against assisted suicide.

If murder is wrong, the do you oppose abortion?

  6. Everyone is Pro Life till your love ones are killed by a thug.

Then you very quickly want an eye for an eye.

  7. What a waste of taxpayer money.
Kansas hasn't executed anyone since the 1960's, and isn't about to do it in the next 50 years either.
It is all political posing, and I'm tired of paying for it.

Kansas: repeal the death penalty if you don't really mean it.

  8. As it is with bureaucrats the only time murder deserves death is if you of a fucking justice.
