A quick note and description of the Kansas City education presser event from Congressman Cleaver's office . . .

Congressman Cleaver Welcomes Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Road to Success Bus Tour to Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – Congressman Cleaver welcomed US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan to Kansas City this morning to talk about the importance of early childhood education. As part of his trip to Missouri’s Fifth Congressional District, Secretary Duncan launched his new “Ready for Success” Back-to-School Bus Tour. Congressman Cleaver joined Secretary Duncan, along with Cecilia Muñoz, assistant to President Obama and Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, at Woodland Early Learning Community School in Kansas City.

“Early childhood education is a vital part of our educational system,” said Congressman Cleaver, “and I am thrilled that Secretary Duncan is recognizing the great work being done here in our city to increase opportunities for students, from our youngest learners all the way through college.”

Early childhood education is one of the best investments we can make. There are approximately 6,000 three and four year old children within the Kansas City Public School (KCPS) boundaries, but only approximately 1,200 children are served in Pre-k classrooms that are funded by federal, or state grant programs, state child care subsidy, or parent fees. At Woodland, 82% of the children are prepared for success when they enter kindergarten compared to only 60% of kindergarteners district-wide.

Secretary Duncan’s bus tour will stop in eleven cities throughout Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

  1. Welcome to the 5th worst-run city in America Arne!

  2. Ever notice how Cleaver only shows up in town when there is some kind of photo op publicity event like this?

  3. Jim nailed it today.

"It’s the whole disgusting circus parade of identity politics, and PC witch-hunting, and trans-sex drum-beating, and girl-lugging-a-mattress-around-campus idiocy, and blame-it-all-on-Whitey whinging, and drone-strike-du-jour warfare, and out-of-control NSA surveillance monkey business, plus throw in the outrageous scams of “civil forfeiture” under a president who was supposedly a professor of constitutional law — the list of Democratic-sponsored absurdities and turpitudes gives me the vapors."

  4. Arne Duncan sends his kids to private school.

  5. You can only hope that Duncan left his wallet in the car and counted his fingers after shaking hands with this crowd.
Did he bring a big bag of money to spread around?
    That's the usual attention-getter.

  6. Is Emmanuel Cleaver getting fat? He's gained weight.

  7. Why on earth would anyone be here to look at our schools? To show how you can throw a billion dollars at something and still not be worth a damn?

  8. The Road to Success BUS Tour? That isn't going to fly in this town. It sounds way too efficient. Make it the Road to Success Trolley Tour, since it involves gobs of public money and little public benefit.

  9. Hope the jerk drove over to felony freeway and showed Secretary Arne the stoplights he insisted on.

  15. Arne Duncan, one-time basketball player at an Ivy League school, ran in the same Chicago philanthropic circles (Ford Foundation/Annenberg Challenge/etc.)as the young Barack Obama Jr.

Previously head of Chicago public schools, he did such a great job there (NOT!!), that Obama brought him to D.C. to work the Chicago corruption magic nationwide.

As Secretary of Education you control a tremendous budget (77.4 BILLION) and have discretion to steer contracts to your friends, supporters, future employers, companies who select you for Board of Directors positions, etc.

Those truly interested should review the Chicago gang who relocated to D.C. following Obama's election (Jarrett, Duncan, Emanuel, Dailey, Axelrod, Pflouffe, just to name a few, and where they are now and how rich did they get?

  18. The Secretary of Education comes through Kansas City and we greet him with two NIGGERS, ooking and eeking at him. How pleasant, I'm sure.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Avoid niggers at all cost.

  20. NaziDave feels compelled to prove that he's an asshole.

He never tells us who he is, or what he does.

He doesn't seem to have a job, either, hypocrite.
