Behind the scenes, we believe that Kansas City cycling advocates realized they were out of their depth and really just being used as pawns amid the toy train streetcar hype SO NOW they turn their attention West to this worthwhile cause that will make life very convenient for a small cadre of middle-class denizens and their lesisurly job. Still, this is a MUST READ that we'll see trumpeted on the front page of the Dead Tree Media some Saturday in October: Speak up for the Kaw Point Connector Trail in Wyandotte County

The UG was receiving a grant for the project, with the STATE handling the grant, and the grant is about two-thirds of the cost of the project, according to UG officials. The UG’s portion of the cost overrun, $250,000, was already included in the budget that had been passed by the UG.
The grant then was $1.2 million in federal funds and the UG match was $510,000 for a total project cost of $1,726,000, according to Heatherman.
Mayor Holland said Wyandotte County has been behind the rest of the metropolitan area in bike and hike trails. Holland loves other peoples money.
Heatherman said the $750,000 could probably be enough to pay for about 7,600 feet, a little over a mile, of sidewalks.
Since you're already stuffing our money into your pockets, why not go ahead and pave the damn path in gold?
Cycling advocates are finally waking up to the fact they are getting the shaft daily?

It's the poor slob tax payers in Kansas that have had the shaft given to them daily. Cycling advocates are just another group looking for handouts from those who can least afford this outrageous expense with half a mil in cost overruns. Kaw group are grant whores. Millions already poured into this park due to political connections with KS crooks.
