Celebrate KCP&L Price Hike Power Play

They say it's going to be a hard winter and this bit of perfectly legal court approved price fixing isn't going to help locals facing harsh times: KCP&L wins 11.7 percent rate increase for its Kansas City customers

  1. So the Missouri Public (crooked assed) Utilities Commission grants a rate increase over a nuclear power plant located in Kansas, with Kansas employees, paying taxes to Kansas and it is paid for by consumers in Missouri. Who needs border wars when your own fucking state bureaucrats are supplying ammo to the enemy?

  2. A public hearing about KCP&L rate increases in KS was held at JCCC by the Kansas Corporation Commission. All 3 members appointed by Brownback. The Chair is a career state employee and the other 2 are former state legislators. The citizens spoke out about a rate increase. It was repeatedly stated how a flat rate increase can't be controlled by conserving energy. One citizen clearly raised the issue of recent year CPIs resulting in less income. With raising medical costs, including medication, Seniors are left with the choice to pay for food, medicine or heating/cooling their residence. Missouri citizens already on losing side, now waiting to see how Brownback and his buddies dump on Kansans.

  3. The original Utilities Commission statement said this power plant would "lower monthly electric bills". Yeah, right !

  6. @ 8:19 - The money will go straight to shareholders. You got to love this system. A legalized monopoly that is allowed to take money from a captive audience customer base and give it to shareholders who don't give a shit about the KC metro area. And this is better than a state-owned enterprise?
