This week most of the interesting online debate focused on the racism of people who prize animal lives over those of their fellow humankind.
For good reason, many noted initial outrage over a dead lion far outmatched outcry (from the middle-class white community) over so many controversial police shootings of African-Americans.

This is a fun argument that everyone is guaranteed to lose and doesn't really do much to advance any particular issue or cause.
Still, in Kansas City we've also had consistent controversy about the value of animal lives given that the ritzy set would much rather throw forever tax money at the Zoo than do anything really substantial to economically uplift the inner city.
It gets worse . . . Those same Kansas City supporters of the Zoo money pit also overlook the dangers of captivity endured by animals and really only support posh after hours events for the hoi polloi that their campaign donations secure.

And let's get even more raw on a Saturday night . . .
Media denizens who really know their stuff understand that people so often degrade themselves just like animals for a chance at fame, fortune and dancing with Ellen Degeneres.
And while Internets trolls are so often obsessed with race, let's not forget that the topic is really a question of power . . . Recently our own KCPD Police Chief confronted pointed questions about his attention to a sick hamster over the lingering questions of a deadly police shooting.
In Kansas City, doggies who fall victims of abuse are often much more celebrated and earn more sympathy than denizens of the urban core who catch a bullet or a beating . . . Most people blame inner city residents for enduring violent crime simply because of their address. Whereas doggie victims of abuse get nothing but love . . .
But I digress . . .
Fact is . . . Kansas City news patrons often prize doggie and animal interest stories over those news items concerning the plight of humans. However, some argue that valuing the lives of beasts makes us more sensitive to the struggle of all living things.

I think it highly unlikely Lincoln was gay based on the flimsy evidence offered and like it or not the evidence that Jefferson had children by slaves could not been proven either. DNA analysis was done and could not verify it. People are just trying to lower them to their own moral level.
