TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! INSIDERS: KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN AIRPORT BLIGHT DEMANDS CITY HALL ACTION BEFORE KCI OVERHAUL!!!

There's another airport that's confronting disrepair and it's not the convenient location that most Kansas City metro travelers enjoy far out north.

To wit . . .

OUR BLOG COMMUNITY EARNS FIRST WORD OF AN UPCOMING FIGHT TO FIX BLIGHT @ THE DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY AIRPORT BEFORE CITY HALL RUINS KCI!!!

Some local denizens noticed the old school parking, weeds, busted fences and all around dank atmosphere around the Signature terminals during the airshow and now the complaints are starting to resonate when INSIDERS talk City Hall Aviation priorities.

One insider seyz . . .

"What's going on @ the Downtown Airport is being kept secret and the fact is that Kansas City is losing a lot of money on a facility that's being under utilized because of bad contracts and horrible management. If we're gonna talk about making KC a BIG CITY PLAYER then it's the corporate travel and high end luxury clientele that we can better serve Downtown which needs to be discussed before we screw with everyday travelers who love KCI convenience . . ."

Right now the Downtown Airport is nothing special to look at but the long term vision from insiders is an elite destination packed with corporate private jets and home to power players across the nation . . . Certainly, that vision is more upscale and inspiring than Mayor Sly trying to make sure everybody gets hassled by TSA and eats at the multi-billion-dollar taxpayer financed new Chili's they want to build @ The Airport.

And so . . . Kansas City Insiders are drawing attention to aviation downtown that Mayor Sly has overlooked in favor of building his legacy on poorly planned public subsidy rather than private investment.

  1. Corporate jets?

You should know that by now.

  2. Can anyone name ANYTHING that is owned and operated by KCMO city government that is well-run and maintained?
    Anything?

  3. wouldn't it be nice if Southwest flew into KC downtown airport [with their 737's]? Let's offer that one up.

  4. Well, 9:32...the elevators in City Hall. They are well-run and maintained. Because they are automated! Back in the Wheeler admin, when I worked for Charlie, they still had elevator operators and the iron lattice gate. (same as the Jaxco courthouse.) Little old lady operators. Union members. That trip was slow as could be. This was before Facebook and TKC, mind you--but by the time your 8 minute ride up to the 29th floor was over, you knew ALL the gossip!

Now I doubt those gals made $15 a hour minimum wage.

  5. That's because the elevator operators were niggers! Of course the problem was finding one who could count to 29 without using his hands, fingers and muh dik! The niggers used to rape women in those elevators so they went to automatic ones. Thank God.

  7. The Harlem Neighborhood Project8/31/15, 10:58 AM

Mrs. Shields promised the Harlem neighborhood next to the downtown airport that we would receive city help to make our community a thriving neighborhood again. We appreciate that she made this commitment and maybe this project will be expanded to help our neighborhood.

You comment reminds me that Jim Glover is gone. Life is great in KC no matter what!

  9. 10:04, SWA would likely find the downtown airport suitable were it not for the obstacles to the south that prevent an instrument approach to runway 1 (the main north runway). As it is, we that fly into downtown use the approaches for runway 3 and then circle to land on 1. Circle-to-land minimums are higher (803 feet versus 250 for the south bound, straight in approach to 19) which would cripple air traffic on a low ceilings day with a north wind.

  10. KC cant even keep one airport maintained, let alone two. Shut the damn thing down or sell it to someone who knows something about what they are doing.

  11. Downtown airport is maintained by the Aviation Department. The KCAD is profitable and can afford to maintain the downtown airport if it wants to. This is another preview of what to expect if every spare dollar has to pay for a new KCI

  12. Shut it down and give the land to an apartment promoter. Downtown Airport was supposed to be a tool to get businesses to move downtown. Well, that didn’t work. Either it pays its own way or shut it down.

  13. The sports team’s charters love Downtown Airport; no TSA & free parking. Maybe the citizens need to start enjoying these benefits.

  14. First Word ? What ? No !

  15. Good idea 10:04! Southwest can move all their operations downtown, hire a bunch of fucking niggers to throw the baggage around, pay for new baggage handling facilities and traveler amenities and rental car facilities and....oh wait that's the stupidest idea I ever heard of!

  16. First step on saving some money would be to contact for private fire protection.

  17. Who ever is in charge of Maintenance is doing a poor job at both airports and should be fired. This is the worst case of not doing your job I have ever seen

  18. Another denizen with paranoia.

    Yawn.
