TKC QUESTION TONIGHT!!! WHO SHOULD KANSAS CITY TRUST: MAYOR SLY OR CROSBY KEMPER III?!?! STREETCAR STUDY SEYZ KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN COSTS COMPARABLE TO OTHER TOWNS!!!

A bit of debatable economic data regarding the price of Kansas City's toy train streetcar experiment is worth discussing tonight.

We don't mind putting this question to the test given that other media outlets are blocking free speech or any intense debate.

Here's the debatable news:

Newspaper: Kansas City streetcar costs are comparable to other cities

Money line . . .

Mayor Sly James said the cost comparison debunks the claim by some critics that Kansas City’s streetcar project is the most expensive in the country.

“That is nonsense,” James said.

Accordingly . . .

THIS STATEMENT IS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO KANSAS CITY PUBLIC LIBRARY DUDE CROSBY KEMPER III AND HIS OFTEN REPEATED CLAIM OVER THE PAST YEAR THAT KCMO HAS THE SINGLE-MOST EXPENSIVE PER MILE STREETCAR LINE IN THE NATION!!!

Accordingly . . .

WHO DO YOU TRUST??? SHOULD KANSAS CITY BELIEVE THIS NOT-SO INDEPENDENT STUDY OR THE PRICE ANALYSIS OF ONE OF THIS TOWN'S PATRONS?!?!

You decide and also remember that our blog community is the only media outlet in Kansas City willing to juxtapose the statements of these two power players against one another because we value FREE SPEECH DISCOURSE more than any partisan allegiance.

Developing . . .

  2. If you hate the street car, you believe Kemper.

    Just like anything here.

    Facts must support the bias.

  3. That's an easy one. I'd trust Crosby Kemper any day over Sly James. And it's "whom."

But who cares if it's the most expensive streetcar in the US? It is far too expensive for what KC gets. It's a gigantic boondoggle for development interests, who will laugh all the way to the bank.

  4. Anyone who thinks they can trust a nigger, even if that nigger is spouting truthful or constitutionally accurate facts, anyone who trusts a nigger to be faithful to you, you are a fool. Niggers will stab you in the back... or in the wallet, if they can.

  5. I don't know about the streetcar. But I'd trust Crosby over Sly anyway. How can you trust a man whose name is SLY!!!

  6. The damage is already done. Courtesy of Sly James, Russ Johnson, and their rural rube minions Staub and Johnson.

  8. For $25.35 million we could have had a state of the art dedicated bus system serving downtown in full and profitable operation in 2014.

  9. James said it’s essential that it be ready for the public to ride in time for the Big 12 and other major downtown tournaments next spring.

Someone please hit the alarm bells please. Or maybe we can use the tornado siren warning system every time Sly opens his mouth on the toy train deal.

  10. Sly's desperate to erect a throbbing monument to his enlightened leadership.

  13. Anyone else notice this political maneuver no doubt designed to build support for a Main Street streetcar extension.

Local Partnership to Benefit the Children’s Center Campus

Kansas City, Missouri – On Thursday, July 2, at 9am, join with the Children’s Center Campus (CCC) as they celebrate the start of construction of a Sensory Garden being built by the KC Streetcar Constructors, the team responsible for building the downtown streetcar. Members of the KC Streetcar Constructors team have volunteered time, supplies, equipment and manpower to build the garden that will benefit the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI), Children’s Therapeutic Learning Center (CLTC), and the YMCA Early Learning Center. The annual CCC Independence Day Student Parade will follow the event.

Special guests include newly re-elected Mayor Sly James, the students and families of CCC, CCC board members, and the KC Streetcar Constructors. The special event will take place at the CCC Campus located at 31st and Main Street.

I'll tell you this, you sons of bitches, YOUR City is between a rock and a hard-on if YOU have to chose between a trust fund baby and a politician lawyer. Good luck with that, I'll keep visiting every once in awhile from the safe distance I've carved out for myself in my Leawood mansion.

  15. 8:33 not shocked they are now dragging the kid's into this politically motivated boondoggle. There is nothing subtle about desperate men.

  16. The streetcar is already an embarrassing bit of yesterday's news and it's not even built and running yet. And in just a few years with the typical KCMO lack of attention-to-detail, lack of interest in and ability to actually manage anything, and complete ignorance of maintenance, the thing will be even more of an embarrassment for the millions of tourists who have never seen a rail car before and will flock in awe and amazement.
7:28 is right. The expense of this folly compared to other cities is not the question. Given all the needs of the people who actually live here, it's simply a gross waste of money. Maybe Sly should build a gondola system at the same cost of other cities.
    Give Clay a call!

  17. With respect for TKC, the question is ridiculous!!!

    Who would I trust?

Sylvester James, a plaintiff's personal injury attorney with a history of not paying his taxes on time, bullying those who disagree with him, reneging on commitments, and too busy chasing after his own ego to insure his children are raised correctly

    OR

Crosby Kemper III, scion to a KC banking dynasty, who had the guts to walk away from the family business to devote his life to scholarship, public service, and the promotion of our city's library. One of the two smartest individuals to ever appear on the Ruckus panel. And if you've ever had the pleasure of meeting him, a genuinely nice down-to-earth witty man.

It's not a fair comparison, as you're talking about two entirely different personalities.

  18. Actually, 904, it’s a bit more complicared than that. Crosby sold something he shouldn’t have and lost his father’s confidence.

  19. Streetcar is not the silver bullet solution or to blame for the problems in this metropolitan area. To everyone that posts for sport or for cause, I suggest you look up the elected dealers sleeve in and out of KCMO. We increasingly look like a middle eastern state that blames a religion for our Ills.

  21. When will City of KCMO examine its connection to the Trump family - via the Cordish One Light Project??

“I heard what you said about the kind of people you think Latino immigrants are -- people with problems, who bring drugs, crime and rape to America. While your comments are incredibly ignorant and racist, I don't want to spend my time chastising you,” she wrote in a piece published on the Huffington Post. “Instead, I'm writing to say thank you!"

In the letter, the former "Ugly Betty" star added: “What you just did with your straight talk was send more Latino voters to the polls than several registration rallies combined!”
Here are All of the Companies That Have Dumped Donald Trump
Macy's the Latest to Dump Trump
Donald Trump Pinata a Hit in Mexico
Ferrera, who is of Honduran descent, noted that by associating Mexican immigrants with crime, rape and drugs, Trump’s tactic has served to, “energize Latino voters and increase turnout on Election Day against you and any candidate who runs on a platform of hateful rhetoric.”

Ferrera’s letter is a direct response to discredited statements Trump made in his presidential announcement speech last month, saying, “When Mexico sends its people… They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”

She pointed out Latinos are both the youngest and fastest-growing constituency in the United States, offering Trump the following statistics: “You are running for President in a country where the Latino population grew by over 49 percent from 2000-2012, while the rest of the country grew by 5.8 percent. What's more, we are the future. The median age of the average Latino is 27 years old, compared to 42 years old for white Americans. In case you need a translation, that means there are a whole lot of Americans who are Latino and have the right to vote. And, we're not going anywhere.”

Ferrera ends the letter by urging Trump to “Keep it up!”

Ferrera is the latest Latina star to speak out against Trump’s statements, including Ricky Martin, Shakira and Eva Longoria. In recent days, a number of businesses -- including Univsion, NBC and Macy’s -- have also suspended their contracts with Trump.

  32. Boy, Kemper sure has a lot of you fooled. His buddies at the Show-Me Institute are doing more damage to this city, region, and state than anything KC govt. is doing. If you're talking special interests, none is more special to Kemper than Rex Sinquefeld or his own ego. From afar he seems cultured and capable, but people who really know how he operates know the Kemper-er has no clothes.
