TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! TRAFFIC TROUBLE TURNED JACKSON COUNTY FIREWORKS DISPLAY @ LONGVIEW LAKE INTO A DUD!!!

So, it seems like the KANSAS CITY'S BIGGEST FIREWORK was easily eclipsed by traffic problems for patrons of a Jackson County fireworks event.

To wit . . .

CHECK THIS SUNDAY TESTIMONY OF TRAFFIC MAYHEM IN THE AFTERMATH OF JACKSON COUNTY FIREWORKS @ LONGVIEW LAKE!!!

Here's the word from a frustrated motorist . . .

Longview Lake fireworks experience

A friend and I went, got there around 7:45. I'd heard on the radio that the event started at 5pm, with music, but we had no idea it would be so crowded that people were parked from Longview and Raytown rd all the way south to Highgrove and beyond, and all down the grass median.

So, the display started around 9:45 and went about 25 minutes, the trees on the east side of Raytown rd blocked the view of all but a few of the fireworks and the final burst, though very loud, was underwhelming to look at, a simple golden burst in just a small part of the sky. Then, the apocalypse really began.

We drove down Raytown Rd to Highgrove, me being reluctant to cross the median over the curb in my little Honda Civic, and we turned left at Highgrove. I turned left on a road deceptively marked "Raytown Rd" and went bumper to bumper a few miles to some sort of marina parking area crowded with SUVs and people, and we had to double back the way we came, all this at a snail's pace. So finally we got back to Highgrove and over to Raytown rd, and back north, hoping to reach Longview rd, the way we had come. This was the worst part: the "authorities" had Raytown rd blocked off just before we got to Longview, with road hurdles with "road closed" and "high water" marked on them. High water? Really? So we all had to u-turn and snail our way back to Highgrove and then turn right, which thankfully got us to Main Street in Grandview and out of there.

All in all, we were stuck on that hamster wheel for over an hour, maybe 90 minutes. There were no signs that I could see pointing to the best way out, we just had to follow the convoy wherever it went. The event organizers must have been overwhelmed by all the people, and though I wouldn't want to be in their place, I'm sure it could have been handled better. Thanks for reading.

While other media don't dare to report anything but presser copy on a big display, we hope these deets help everyone put together a more organized event for next year. If anyone had a similar experience at this event, please feel free to share . . .

  1. I always try to wait a few minutes after the crowds in order to let the traffic thin out. It takes patience but I find it's better than standing in long line of traffic that are often dangerous.

  4. I went there and experenced none of the problems the poster experenced.

I went around 8:15PM. Parked at Longview Apartments at 8:30PM. Had a space by Longview Community around 8:45PM.

After the display, We waited 10 to 15 minutes so trafic to get better. Was at my home 15 minutes latter.

What display did you go to?

  5. Really. Sounds like King Loser was on the other side of the display.

I heard the explosives were underwhelming as a whole tribe of niggers got close to the launch site and stunk it up so bad it depleted all the available oxygen.

  8. Blaz Tavers, local gadfly/film critic7/5/15, 5:07 PM

4:48 is getting pretty creative with his barbs lately. I think he has found his creative muse, if you will. Nothing quite as exciting as seeing a young talent finding their voice.

  9. Roses are red Blaz,
    and if you've not heard,
    The typical nigger
    Smells like a turd.

    They stink up our city,
    and ruin our town,
    In fact the best town,
    Is when they're not around.

So face up to facts, Blaz,
    and riddle me this:
    Why does every nigger
    SMELL LIKE FUCKING PISS?

  11. Agree with 4:44 comment!

The poster was obviously unfamiliar with the area and went to the low side of the lake (Grandview side).

When leaving, instead of turning left on Highgrove to deadend south side Raytown Rd., he should have turned right and made his way to 71 highway.

But, I'll agree with the poster, traffic could have been directed better if he didn't have a clue which way to exit.

  12. Alex, I'll take "Boorish Hillbillies" for 2007/5/15, 8:41 PM

You can only type the word Nigger so many times until it loses it's shock value. When you type it repetitively in every comment thread, you start to resemble the anonymous internet fat kid, wiping boogers on the wall and giggling while pulling the cats tail. You just come off as lazy, boring and mildly retarded. But hey, it looks good you, so keep pounding away, literally and figuratively.

  13. Alex, I'll take "Sucking Black Cock" for 800, ding ding ding Daily Double

You can only type the word Racist so many times till it loses it's shock value. When you type it repetitively in every comment thread, you start to resemble the anonymous internet faggot, wiping cum from his mouth on his sisters panties as you pull that black cock from your mouth.

But hey, your a head in the sand, sad fuck, that enjoys watching your sister bang the nigger next door to your mobile home with used tire skirts. So you keep pounding your pud while calling out "Boorish Hillbillies".
