TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY PETITIONERS AGAINST PRICEY DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL PUSHED OUT OF PUBLIC PARK BY POLICE!!!

Take a look at problems encountered by local grassroots activists hoping to fight against higher taxes and bad hotel food by way a public petition.

KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS WERE TURNED AWAY FROM RIVER FEST AND THEY SUSPECT A POLITICAL CONSPIRACY!!!

Read the whole thing but there's the suspicion that the political elite are taking local petitions just a bit more seriously because the threshold of success is now lower thanks to abysmal voter turnout.

Freedom Denied on the 4th of July!

On the evening of July 4th, CITIZENS FOR RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT, went to the RiverFest. This event was advertised as "open to the public” and held at Berkley Riverfront Park which is run by the KC Port Authority, a city board appointed by the mayor. It was our intention to enjoy the festivities from outside the general admission gates and collect signatures on our petition to get the taxpayer funded downtown hotel on a ballot for the KCMO voters to gain insight before local government gives more of our assets away to developers.

Twenty or Thirty minutes into our collection process we were told by the KCMO police department we could not be there, we had to leave. We asked why? and were told “they do not want you here”. We asked who “they” were and were told just “they”. Knowing the Mayor controls the Port Authority and his disdain for our project, we decided not make a scene so we moved up near City Market where the busses were loading to take people down to the park. We continued to collect signatures.

Here again we believe this is a blatant abuse of power for a personal agenda and a clear violation of our first amendment rights.

AMENDMENT ONE: “ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof: or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; OR THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE PEACEABLY TO ASSEMBLE, AND TO PETITION THE GOVERNMENT FOR A REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES.

How sad for this to happen on any day let alone on the 4th of July!

  2. Wow, did Congress pass a law against Citizens for Responsible Government outlawing their freedom of speech or to assemble??

What's that you say? They didn't?

Then Citizens for Responsible Government should shove their gripes right up their ass for a fair hearing.

And learn to correctly spell AMENDMENT. Is that one of those things in the CONSDITUTION?

  4. They spelled it correctly.

ADMENDMENT ONE: “Condgress shall make no law respecting an establishment of redligion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof: or adbridging the freedom of speedch, or of the predss; OR THE DRIGHT OF THE PEDOPLE PEACEDABLY TO ADSSEMBLE, AND TO PEDTITION THE GODVERNMENT FORD A REDDRESS OF GRIDEVANCES.

True, CFRG is “free” to speak and write all they like. But that “freedom” stops there — they do not have the “right” or the “freedom” to encroach upon another person or upon that other person's property.

This “Do Not Encroach” is a pillar of the English Common Law, upon which much of the Constitution is built. Do Not Encroach is a part of Judaic law, Islamic law and was around long before America was discovered. Do Not Encroach was around long before there was even a United States Constitution to which a First Amendnment could be applied.

And somewhere, the founding fathers cringe.

  6. Remember when Sly barged into the toy train meeting at Brookside uninvited and in a panic?

Did the police say you'll have to leave they don't want you here.

No he got his five minutes to make an idiot out of himself then sat down and frowned for the remainder of the meeting.

  12. Lots of beautiful park surrounding the Ag Museum for that American Royal proud tradition. Plenty of RV parking near, playgrounds, and around the clock security patrols in a family friendly area. The convenient Legends shopping and dining is only a few miles north adjacent the site for the Dairy Farmers of America headquarters.

This side of the state line has the real "KANSAS CITY", not that other city that should have renamed long ago. Try "Missouri City", Missouri.
