The Levota saga: A cautionary tale
The recent nuclear destruction of Levota's political career, although interesting in itself, bears as a cautionary tale for budding insiders. A truism in politics: Be careful who you step on while your on your way up, as you may need them on your way back down. Or, as the good book says, pride cometh before the fall. Here are just a few of the many contextual dots in the Levota career trajectory that the MSM will be too lazy or uninformed to connect, but that led in many ways to the events of last week . . .
1. Sketchy LeVota Voting Record
"Phil A. LeVota, an assistant county prosecutor and incoming chairman of the Jackson County Democratic Committee, voted in two elections this year in Independence after moving to Lee's Summit in August 2003, records show.
"Intentionally voting where you don't live is a Class 1 election felony in Missouri, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
"LeVota said he never knowingly defrauded election officials or anyone else."
2. Campaigning Concerns For The LeVota Clan
"Phil LeVota, current member of the Missouri State Democratic Committee, has been hit with a $15,500 fine for a string of ethics violations stemming from his 2008 run for a municipal judgeship in Lee’s Summit. He will only have to pay ten percent ($1,550) of the fine if he can manage to stay out of trouble for the next two years.
3. Newspapers Claim Feds Have Been Following LeVota Fam
"USA Today - "The FBI is questioning Missouri lawmakers about allegations that legislative leaders demanded campaign contributions in exchange for prestigious committee posts, legislative sources told The Associated Press on Tuesday. Two lawmakers said they specifically were asked about House Minority Leader Paul LeVota, a Democrat from Independence."
"It looks to be a cold winter for team Levota as their enemies accumulate hourly, and their purported "friends" look for the next gravy train moving out of the station. A cautionary tale of woe for the unwary."

The Brothers LeVota finally got what they so richly deserved. How come no one is exposing Independence Councilmember Chris Whiting (Mayor Boom Boom's) hand puppet who was Paul's sidekick in their failed super unfunny stand up comedy act some years back and Paul's best high school friend who graduated with him. Whiting was endorsed and funded heavily by the Brothers LeVota to win his seat in Independence where Phil is draggin in a hefty hefty lobbying contract. Whiting spent many hours in Jeff City and his cell phone would have a ton of his and LeVota dirt on it. When Whiting wasn't playing bat peters with Paul in Jeff City I bet he had to be telling the girls if they asked to spank his pee pee he wouldn't say no.

ReplyDeleteReally Tony? How about some context? In 2009: State Rep. Ray Salva told the Associated Press that the FBI was investigating then State Rep. LeVota. FBI denied they wee investigating him and RAY SALVA GOT INDICTED for Social Security fraud. How is that scandal for LeVota?
ReplyDeleteI agree with 9:36 AM. It's easy to just pile on without telling the rest of the story but no one has time for that now. I'm on the county committee and in 2006 Phil was running for County Chairman and the powers that be didn't like it. The KC Star (No one else) alleged voter fraud. If you remember, the Republican Secretary of State investigated and found no wrong doing. How is an allegation from the Dead Tree Media that was investigated and not true rise to the level of a "scandal?" IF it was true, he would have been charged with a crime.

All law enforcement has do do is talk to Courtney Cole, explain how much time she is looking at for what she did for Paul and Phil (not counting the sex acts) and then start taking down everything she says through the tears.
ReplyDeleteI don't quite get all the crap? Paul was a junior senator in the minority. He was one of 9. He didn't have any influence in anything to even get involved in corruption. There is no money to follow. He got caught in a social scandal and resigned. And Phil is a private attorney. What's the crap about him? He's not in public office and is just a sleazy lawyer. Without his bother in the legislature, Phil's lobbying law firm is caput, and he is probably looking at prosecution.
