Eric Berry Cleared For Return To Kansas City Chiefs After Lymphoma Treatment

It's amazing how many sports newsies don't seem to have much experience with cancer or would rather mislead readers with jocular narratives about "beating" the condition - Using an action verb that doctors and survivors always advise against. For cancer survivors, there's always a chilling realization that there is no crossing the goal line, there's never any touchdown dance . . . The shadow of recurrence always looms in much the same way that death is always watching and listening to us all whether we realize it or not . . . Another pleasant thought for the overnight.

Anyhoo . . . It's nice to hear that Eric Berry might be in remission after a recent medical scare. In far less important news, he's cleared to return to Kansas Chiefs training camp.

Check the links . . .

ESPN: S Eric Berry cleared for Chiefs' camp 8 months after lymphoma diagnosis

SB Nation: "Not only can he return to action, but he's eligible to practice when the Chiefs open training camp. Not only did Berry defeat the disease, but he managed to stay in shape while undergoing lymphoma treatments."

NFL.com: "The Chiefs announced the surprising news Tuesday night that Berry has been cleared to take the field again on Wednesday morning for the first time since being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma last December. He missed the final five weeks of last season, and concluded treatment on his cancer in June."

Hopefully, more for the morning update . . . STAY TUNED!!!

  1. That is a shitty attitude, personally, I wish the guy the best and I hope he helps KC win a Super Bowl. That would be more appropriate TKC.

It is likely very important to Berry to get back to his livelihood, and his passion for football. Has to be frightening to suffer serious health setbacks so young. Glad he's returning to play, a rosary for him from me each week (been down the C road myself a few years back).
