Social media chatter doesn't offer much of a critical perspective about testimony of some post-menopausal lady extolling the virtues of Kansas City Mayor Sly James whilst revealing her side of an old school Clay Chastian dating story.
Given her social media screed here are a few things to consider . . .
- She admits she didn't file a complaint at the time. This sounds like the 90s, so it's not like we're talking pre-civil rights era lady persecution where nobody would have believed her. Even back then, Clay was far from universally beloved.
- Fair play, good for her if she really wanted to share this story and she puts her name on it and is willing to take the risk associated with making this charge.
- She notes/alleges Clay Chastain apologized to her and she accepted his apology.
- Only now in defense of Mayor Sly James is she coming forward with her allegations as a late tax challenge she describes as a "technicality" could disqualify the Mayor from reelection.
Sometimes love is a "win at all costs" game and now YOU DECIDE if you believe the word of this white lady . . .

Board of Healing Arts member denies leaking Milton Wolf stories

Topeka — A member of the Kansas Board of Healing Arts released a statement late Thursday denying that she was the source of news reports that helped doom tea party-backed candidate Milton Wolf's campaign for the U.S. Senate.
In a three-page statement entitled "An Open Letter to Kansas Citizens," board member Ann Hodgdon of Lenexa also denied that she initiated any investigation into possible ethics violations by Wolf.
"I did not initiate, launch, or make any suggestions to the Board of Healing Arts or its staff to conduct an investigation of Dr. Milton Wolf," Hodgdon said in the letter.
"I did not provide photos of Dr. Wolf's Facebook posts of X-rays and commentary to the media; nor to the Board of Healing Arts," she said.
Wolf is a radiologist from Johnson County who ran unsuccessfully for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate. He lost in a close race to incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts, 41-48 percent.
Wolf's campaign suffered a serious blow in February when the Topeka Capital-Journal reported that a few years earlier, Wolf had posted x-ray images of gunshot victims on a Facebook page, along with dark-humor comments about them.
The posts had been removed from Facebook before the story was published. The newspaper did not republish the images or identify how it obtained them.
The day after the story appeared, however, Hodgdon notified the Board of Healing Arts that she would recuse herself from any disciplinary proceedings that might involve Wolf. Both Hodgdon and her husband were financial contributors to Roberts' campaign.

State Rep. J. Basil Dannebohm, R-Ellinwood, stood out during his first week in the Kansas Statehouse.
Dannebohm invited failed U.S. Senate candidate Milton Wolf, a conservative and controversial tea party Republican from Leawood who railed last year against the Republican establishment, to be his guest in the House chamber as Gov. Sam Brownback delivered the State of the State on Thursday.
U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Dodge City, survived a bruising summer primary challenge from Wolf, and went on to re-election in November. Anne Hodgdon, a Lenexa Republican and staunch backer of Roberts as well as a member of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, was among those curious when they saw the photo of Dannebohm and Wolf in the Statehouse. The two also went to a dinner function in Topeka after the speech.
Dannebohm “told a trusted friend of mine that he’d taken Wolf because it had been a ‘set up’ by Clay Barker and the Moran camp in order for Basil to get information from Milton to report back on,” Hodgdon wrote on her Facebook page last week.

I myself, believe this 68-year old woman has an imaginative memory and conveniently concocted a story to slime Clay Chastain, in a he-said/she-said lie, without crossing the line into making a false criminal charge.

Neither the story or the bimbo's communication style pass the smell test. Given the timing and the company she keeps I might suggest that this is typical dirty Missouri politics. As sly well knows from his childhood, when your pants are down around your ankles it's time to call in mommy to try and pull them back up. It has been 20 years since I've sat silently by and watched whacko Clay Chastain try to upend KCMO. And now as Chastain tries, by legal technicality, to deprive Kansas City of its finest Mayor to serve in the 43 years I've lived here, I'll share 'my personal Clay Chastain story.' It was 1994; my divorce from 'Senator you-know-who' was final and my kids and I had just moved to an O.P. duplex. My new next-door neighbor invited me to join her for a KC Symphony performance downtown. Following the concert, we went to the Phoenix to have a drink and get a bite to eat. As we were eating, a nice looking man approached the table and introduced himself as Clay Chastain. He said he'd seen me at the Symphony and was 'so taken with me' that he'd followed us to the parking lot and then to the Phoenix. It had been many years since I'd been single, and while I should have been creeped out by being followed, I was instead flattered. [duh.....] As single-people conversation goes, we then each gave a brief overview of who we were, etc., and I found him to be very bright and interesting. So when he asked, I agreed to meet him the following evening for dinner at a restaurant on the Plaza at that time called Fedora. Over dinner, I learned much more about him (he loved to do the talking); he said he was an engineer by education and had designed a streetcar plan for KCMO that he planned to present to the City Council. I love public transit so when he invited me back to his house to see the plans he'd drawn, I bit. I drove to his midtown house and he did indeed show me his beautifully pencil-drawn plans; pages and pages of them. He was, up to that point, the consummate gentleman. So when he went over to play a classical piece on the piano that was in his living room, I sat down on his couch and listened - he was quite an accomplished pianist. He played for maybe 15 or 20 minutes, and when he finished, he got up from the piano, approached the couch, and leaned over to kiss me. I slid gingerly away, saying (as I stood up) how much I'd enjoyed the evening, but it was getting late and I had a long drive back to Overland Park. In a split second, his good looks transformed into rage, and he violently tore my blouse completely open at the buttons. I kneed him as hard as I could, which gave me the extra couple seconds to run out of his house to my car. He ran after me, enraged and screaming like a madman, as I backed out of his driveway at high speed - to safety. I realized of course that I'd made a mistake in going to his house, but he had been such a gentleman, I couldn't fathom I'd be in danger. The next day, he called my office many times, but I told the receptionist to tell him I did not want to talk to him. A few days later, he called work again, and this time I took the call and personally told him to never call again; he said he understood, but just wanted me to hear his apology. He did not call again. But I saw him about a year later when I was at the Nelson-Atkins Museum with a girlfriend. Although I quickly looked the other way, he instantly recognized me, and tried to talk to me. I declined - so, what did he do? The creep followed me from gallery to gallery until I finally stopped dead in my tracks, looked him square in the eye, and told him if he didn't get out of my sight, I would call security; and they would call the police; and I would tell them my whole story. Thankfully, that made an impression and he disappeared. Some years later when I read in the media that he'd been accused of calling and trying to date women who had signed his streetcar petitions outside grocery stores, I thought about coming forward, but decided my privacy was more valuable. Now, my privacy doesn't seem that relevant as the very unstable Clay Chastain 'legally messes with' Kansas City's great Mayor Sly James.

Anne Hodgdon is awful. She's a gold digger that marries for money and then flaunts her money in front of everyone on Facebook by bragging about extravagant trips, jewelry, cars and symphony tickets. She also uses Facebook as an opportunity to dog on Wolf, Dannenbaum, Vratil and now Chastain, I'm sure more stories will come out and I'm sure A. Hodgdon will be the common denominator.

But in the past 2-3 years Anne has become bitter, angry and incredibly vicious in her attacks on well ALMOST EVERYONE who she sees any differences with. It is a shame to see this graceful woman become so vocal in a public way about many things she is not holding all the facts on. It makes those who do know the facts , feel sorry for her. Until now many of us have sat by and watched her unravel not willing to say anything thinking this will pass, but ANNE, MAYOR SLY JAMES IS A BULLY, CROOK, LIAR and should not be returned to office for a second term. In fact if disqualified (and he did break the rules to file for the office) hopefully someone who actually cares about Kansas City's future will step forward for a write in campaign. All of a sudden conservative when she's married to JB Hodgdon. The issue of guns or abortion or electing Brownback isn't important, it's seeing her name on an invitation. A commenter earlier is absolutely correct, people feel sorry for her because she looks so crazy. Because she is crazy. She used to hide it better I guess. Nobody knows if she is sane or just really mean. Either way she lies all the time and usually hurts the politicians around her. Either way people feel sorry for her. Republicans don't want her. Democrats don't want her. Brownback and Kobach and Kansans for Life take a $1000 from her every year and put her name on an invitation, that's about it.
