Once again let's destroy the myth that Mayor Sly is popular and beloved among Kansas City voters.

A KICK-ASS TOP RANKING CONSULTANT TELLS TKC THAT THE MAYOR'S ENDORSEMENT COULD COST HIS FAVORITE CONTENDERS BIG TIME AND THEY'RE HOLDING OFF ON ASKING FOR HIS SUPPORT!!!
Of course we have examples because we're just that good . . .

Council Dude Dick Davis knows the Northland now has NO LOVE for Mayor Sly . . .
Heather Hall is KILLING incumbent Dick Davis in general election polling and the last thing he needs is the support of a guy who has neglected the Northland and pushed an unpopular airport scheme.
And then . . .
Former Mayor Sly staffer Jason Hodges seems to be distancing himself from Mayor Sly . . .
Mr. Hodges is no longer with Axiom and sources close to him want to downplay his relationship with the Mayor. Affiliation with Mayor Sly simply isn't going to help him win back the votes he needs in the urban core, Northland or anywhere else but the editorial board meetings of The Star.
If Mayor Sly was soooooooooo popular . . . Then maybe the experience Mr. Hodges has attained while working in his office for the past 4 years might be seen as beneficial. Of course he wants to focus on his own qualifications but others have noticed that reference to the Mayor is growing is infrequent for this political hopeful.

Again, if Mayor Sly was so beloved and so popular than the support of Mayor Sly would be enough to push Council Dude Glover over the hump and help him defeat Katy Shields.
But that endorsement isn't coming any time soon and we only expect to see it if the council dude gets really desperate.

"The Mayor is going to be operating behind the scenes for the moment. He might help with donors or campaign staff support BUT he won't be front and center. AGAIN: IF MAYOR SLY IS SOOOOO POPULAR THEN WHY ARE COUNCIL CONTENDERS FRIENDLY WITH HIS CAMPAIGN HOLDING OFF ON TOUTING HIS ENDORSEMENT?!!?
Mailer season is almost here and we'll look for any close connections but right now the Mayor's support isn't winning votes in Kansas City and mainstream media seems too scared to report this fact. Natch.

ReplyDeleteYou are dead right. Shields wrecked JaxCo' financies. We do not want that kind of corrupt bitch to set policy for the Northland, and I think that is true in Brookside and Waldo too.
All Shields seems to be able to do is buy Freedom Inc., which does not give her any real vote totals. And she picks up some votes from women who want to vote for women, and that group is only material when almost no one shows up to the polls. The low turn out is the only thing that keeps Katie the Person of Interest in contention.
The week after Shields left office Jackson County Administrators found out that the County was broke. No joke.

Katheryn Shields still needs to answer for the millions of our tax dollars she wasted on the Fort Osage historic restoration. She wasted our money on a iconic monument to her own ego like a petit dictator in a former Soviet Republic. I will not be surprised if that monstrosity is still generating law suits against Jackson County that must be defended using our tax dollars.
