Community service honor for one of the top columnists working in Kansas City today. Mr. Diuguid has his critics, just like anyone bold enough to express an opinion in public . . . NEVERTHELESS, this local writer is one of the most dignified and classy denizens of an increasingly rough discourse. For every accolade we hear that he has earned, most readers never know about constant threatening critical messages that he endures which often escalate into threats. So when is the National Association of White Journalists giving out their awards. OOPS, I guess that would be racist.
ReplyDeleteI do not intend this to be hateful in the slightest, but I live in the same neighborhood as this gentleman. We solicited him for a year to attend our neighborhood association meetings, to help us direct the energy and money into more positive directions. I do not recall him ever making time to come to one of the meetings.
ReplyDeleteI can understand why he would not want to attend. The meetings are horrible and nasty. Kindof like the neighborhood itself.
Ivory tower selflessness and elitist pontification are now the guiding lights of modern activism.
I know a young woman who was a target of a one of his articles. It was a smear job, total hack journalism. I therefore cannot take him all that seriously and, frankly, he is little more than a mouthpiece for the status quo.

Diuguid's incessant, drumbeat of misanthropic slog, directed at white people over the decades, are a tribute to success of Affirmative Action. Largely unqualified to post on his own Facebook Page without supervision, his stark and continual lack of nuance with regard to his one trick trope, Civil Rights, is an exercise in repetition and the insistence that a transubstantiation of the 160 year old sins of slavery, to whites here and now (Whose families,the lion's share of which, owned zero slaves.) are a free pass for blacks to expect cash and special exemptions from the Rule of Law for EVER!.
The "Narrative" of that bankrupt and self defeating Civil Rights trope, was "Equal Opportunity", that has now morphed (With the help of lickspittle shills like Diuguid.) into "Equal Outcome" and IS morphing into "Equal Outcome or even more violence in the streets".
Supported and encouraged by political, white, spineless satraps, brought into power with the black coalition who without fail, vote 96% Democratic, his position at the Kansas City Star is, to that publication exactly what the millions of Affirmative Action hires are to businesses all over America. A malodorous excrescence on our collective asses, that we are not allowed to remove, under penalty of law.

This says more about the National Association of Black Journalists than about Lewis. There simply must not be any really deserving candidates for this award. (And an editorial writer is not necessarily a "journalist"--think Woodward and Bernstein who actually researched their stories.) Lately Lewis' articles have all been about one teacher in one school. I know Lewis has had cancer and has recently lost his father, but really. To take liberties with Oscar Wilde, one article on Carol Christmas might be interesting, but weekly updates smack of laziness.

Another interesting point--Lewis is the product of an intact family. Has he ever addressed the lack of intact families and its impact on a large portion of the black community? As far as I can recall, his position is black problems are the result of racism. All black problems.

The only thing blacks can talk about is civil rights and the struggle. It is all they have ever done with few exceptions. it is like if the Kansascity royals just kept on harping forever about the 85 series and never won another game. justg keep on taling about the only thing you ever did, because now the only thing you ever do is lose.

Given that there are less than abot a dozen actual journalists left in this country I could care less that the st around passing awrds around amoungst themselves. Hell, the NAB has been doing the same shit for years. The fact that this guy has avaoided a NAZI neighborhood association does give him five points in my books. Professor Diuguid is a classy, intelligent educator. I respect him the most out of any journalist in this city. It hurts my heart to read people's unkind half baked opinions of him. He has mucho integrity and is also an interesting person. I am a fan and have been for years. Cheers.
