No turnout votes give the deceptive impression that Mayor Sly James is "popular" when in fact Kansas City's top elected leader has lost most of his support from the community and only developers and lawyers looking to get paid support his reign.

THE MAYOR'S LATE PAY TAX CRISIS HAS DESTROYED HIS CREDIBILITY IN PUSHING THE NEW TAXES CITY HALL "NEEDS" IF THEY WANT TO AVOID BANKRUPTCY OR A LOOMING BOND DOWNGRADE!!!
The mayor's agenda is clear and no secret, along with more reasonable counter proposals . . .
Mayor Sly has consistently championed a taxpayer subsidized Downtown (or near Downtown) Hotel - Others hope that private biz will take on the effort without City Hall paying the tab.
He could accomplish this without an election.
A new airport is on the list for Mayor Sly's second term - Meanwhile, even the airlines are just asking for improvements and NOT a new facility.
There's already a plan to by-pass voters on this . . .
The plan to push another toy train extension is already underway by Team Sly . . . Voters have already rejected the plan, demand a citywide vote and want to wait and see how the first line turns out.
Fear of the Port Authority taking on this project without a public vote already terrifies Midtown Kansas City denizens.
Oh yeah, and Mayor Sly also wants to build a statue to former Mayor Kay at some point.
And so . . .
THE LEGACY OF MAYOR SLY IS AN EAGERNESS TO CIRCUMVENT THE WILL OF KANSAS CITY VOTERS WHILE SKIRTING THE RULES OF THE CITY CHARTER THAT APPLY TO EVERYBODY ELSE!!!

At least the rush to replace the current terminal at the airport has been pretty much stopped in its tracks by actually involving the major airline, Southwest, in the decision.
