Kansas City Internets Taxi Fight Continues!!!

City Hall caved to Uber but that doesn't mean the local fight for Kansas City streets is over . . .

Let's not forget that Kansas City Transportation dude Bill George has more than a few tricks up his sleeve and his company is also powered by way Interents app . . .

Right now the hipsters are getting a great deal of free press because venture capitalists pretty much run modern day biz media.

But Bill George seems to be counting on affordability and 10 bucks sounds a bit better than the complaints about PRICE SURGING which haunt other Internets operations.

Also, hipsters tend to move on from one thing to the next pretty fast.

Anybody remember Groupon???? Lulz.

And so . . .

NOW KANSAS CITY TRANSIT MOGUL BILL GEORGE SENDS HIS INTERNETS BLUE CABS TO DO BATTLE WITH UBER AND THEIR PART-TIME ARMY!!!

Who will win will depend on local consumers and Silicon Valley commitment while Bill George and his family have proven over generations that they're in this town's transit biz to win.

Here's the 10/10 presser released over the weekend . . .

New City Ordinance Allows 10/10 to Operate in Kansas City, MO

Popular suburban 10/10 Taxi service is coming to KCMO.

Kansas City, April, 2015: 10/10 Taxi, the blue cars you see everywhere in the suburbs, is pleased to announce we will be entering the KCMO market in May 2015.

Since our founding in September 2010, 10/10 Taxi has provided more than 4 million trips in the suburban metro area. With a simple promise of a pick-up within 10 minutes, and a flat fare of only $10 for up to 5 miles, 10/10 has become the area’s preferred for-hire transportation service.

Due to a recent change in the Kansas City, MO ordinance, 10/10 will now be permitted to operate within the city limits of KCMO. Customers can use our mobile app zTrip to hail a 10/10 anywhere in the metro.

Bill George, CEO of 10/10 Taxi, stated, “We worked closely with the city council to craft a new ordinance that would allow us to bring 10/10 to KCMO. Customers that download our zTrip app will now be able to use 10/10 anywhere in the metro.”
The 10/10 fleet is powered by zTrip a unique ride-hailing app. 10/10 offers the same low price 24/7/365 and does not employ surge pricing. Our branded fleet is staffed by licensed professionals and fully insured. With the zTrip app customers can instantly hail a 10/10 or they can place a guaranteed order for a later time.

Available on both iPhone and Android platforms, zTrip provides the choice of credit card payment through the app or cash, as well as 24/7 live customer support.

zTrip is now available in more than 30 U.S. cities including Phoenix, Denver, Austin, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Tampa, and Orlando. For a complete listing of zTrip cities currently offering service, visit www.ztrip.com.

  1. This can only help all players in the private transportation business. The problem with small cities like KC that have traditionally had a small number of taxis is that you cannot depend on them for transportation. Sure, you can find something if you happen to be at a cab stand but if you are not, be prepared to wait and, sometimes, never see your cab.

The single most difficult thing for cab companies and drivers to understand is that by increasing the number of units on the street, people will begin to trust that they will be there when needed.

  2. 7:17 Very true, it'd be interesting to see research on this, but I don't know of any. From personal experience though, I agree wholeheartedly. Taxis are fairly dependable for high density, high volume nights like weekends at PNL/Westport/Downtown/Plaza. However, business centric needs for Taxis are horribly neglected.

If a colleague is coming in from another region I NEVER reccommend taxis. Particularly Yellow Cab (they are the biggest and most well known) Getting a ride Monday - Friday 8a - 3p is very frustrating.

  3. Last time I tried getting a cab, the driver couldn't be bothered to turn down the nasheed playing on the radio. I just gave up. It's about as business friendly as playing full blast Christian rock. Not my thing either.

  4. "“We worked closely with the city council to craft a new ordinance that would allow us to bring 10/10 to KCMO. ..."

Can I work closely with the crooked city government to craft an ordinance in my best interest? Sounds like a really objective process.
