Kansas City Catholics Pray For More Donations Amid Aftermath Of Bishop Finn

A sign that the Kansas City Catholic faith community isn't as forgiving as some might mistakenly believe:

KMBZ: Kansas City diocese donations low

Money quote:

"Many parishioners withheld contributions to the bishop's discretionary fund when the child sex abuse scandal broke.

"Finn is still a bishop and is being paid by the church."

Maybe now the faithful might be a bit more generous in the brief interlude from one shameful Catholic scandal and on to the next.

  1. It sure takes a lot of gall, to ask for donations, after all of the pedophile settlements and other waste of money. These "religious types" are simply thieves that pass themselves off as "holier than thou" and get away with legalized theft. Not one dime!!!

  2. This is one of the great tragedies of this whole thing. People have used this issue to withhold money that served the poor. The majority of the settlements (most of which were unrelated to Finn) were covered by insurance. Much of the rest was covered by donations made specifically for legal defense. Claims in some publications that the Diocese raided parish funds are simply untrue.

Yet it made for a convenient excuse for people to stop supporting the diocese and Catholic Charities, the latter of which did not spend a penny on the bishop nor could it. So these self-righteous, mis-informed people rant about "not giving a dime" treat themselves to some nice dinners and new shoes while the poor suffer.

  3. My "rant" was certainly not "mis-informed", having witnessed the hypocrisy of the Catholic money grubbing machine, on a first hand basis, over fifty years. These people are no more than shills and thieves, no matter how you dress it up. Again, not one dime for these creeps.

  6. The Catholic Church is the single largest charity organization in the WORLD. It is estimated that if the Church were to cease operations immediately over 1.43 BILLION people would die within 12 months. According to Harvard University, such a shock to the social services across the globe would UNDOUBTEDLY lead to war on a scale not before seen.

So after you are done knocking those who donate, you may wish to thank them for keeping your world afloat. I don't see any other organization lining up to do what the Church does.

  7. Maybe it's time for the church to sell off some real estate

  8. 1:28 why? We don't need to, we have plenty of funding. We run balanced budgets and have a HUGE surplus. Our cash horde makes Apples 200 billion dollar cash stash look like chump change/.

  9. The entire "church" is a scam. It's always about money and little else. They'll say whatever they have to say to generate more and more money. Well, not from all of us.. Fuck em!!!
